So, my dad bought this game for me to play with him on the xbox. He wanted me to get beyond light because most of the game's content was behind a paywall and we thought, okay, if beyond light is purchased, then most of the game's content would be playable, since the base game is beyond light. The deluxe edition was $70 and the base game beyond light was $40. I bought beyond light for $40. The purchase was made and nothing got unlocked. Instead, I got a personal story quest that I'm not even interested in at all. So, to unlock something he wanted me to play, he sent me forsaken, and we beat the mission. All together, that was $55 since forsaken was $15. Now he wants to do something else and that requires the deluxe edition, which is $47 dollars more. So all together that would be what? $102? For something that should have been from the very start $70? He lives in a rural area and I was having a fun time playing gambits with him and getting him into crucible but bungie suspended him from gambits because of his low quality american internet, accusing him of disconnecting. Behind paywalls and poorly explained expansion packs (what are you paying for?) This whole thing is just a cash grab to rip off older people and friends. Everything is behind a paywall and you quickly suspend people. We were discussing this on the microphone, and he's more than willing to pay just to play this game with me, but I'm completely furious that this is happening at all. Games online like Heroes of the Storm are completely free and do not suspend players for poor internet, they'll just put players with poor internet in rooms with other players that have poor internet. You're suspending people why? Because you haven't figured out how to make that work? Or because you know it'll force groups into your money paywall making schemes? I'll bet you're not dumb enough for it to be the former. So you have this craftily designed game with paradoxically mediocre gameplay, poor moderation, purposefully confusing sales descriptions, and a paywall scheme that naturally preys on family and close friends with no other options. All of this whispers to me that you probably aren't apologetic either and you're PROBABLY going to fight a refund if I tried, and you're probably willing to remove posts like this from your site since customer service is something you PROBABLY can't afford to commit to competitively. I'm embarrassed for you and your community. This isn't a professional new way of designing games. It's a conniving snot-nosed scheme that I'd expect to be sold second-hand by a creepy alien named Xur.
