Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the raid. The mechanics were fun, the encounters were fun. The raid was good. But I don’t think that raid deserves the level of worship it receives. All the weapons were subpar at best. The shiniest turd of them all being the pulse. Touch of malice was good yeah, but really only for that raid and only for one encounter.
If you told me Vog or Crota or Wrath was your favorite raid for d1 I wouldn’t question it. But the community seems to all just lose their marbles over any mention of kingsfall and I don’t know if that’s nostalgia or genuine.
In my personal opinion Wrath was executed better in just about every aspect. The guns were worth using, outbreak prime quest was more intricate and the gun was useful outside of the raid. The armor looked great. The mechanics and encounters were fun and interesting.
Both Kingsfall and Wrath were the start of a more mechanic heavy raid theme that has been carried over into d2. Both raids would be fun to see come back into d2. I hope the end of d2 is an amalgamation of all destiny content to that point. Even if the game is cod levels of gigabytes, having every single raid and activity would be in my personal opinion “Peak Destiny”.
Anywho, if you worship kingsfall, tell me why and what about that raid made it the “best d1 raid”
Edit: it seems a lot of the responses I’m getting are kinda telling me that I’m a hater or just had bad experiences with the raid blah blah. It’s not that I love the raid and would love to see it come back. I appreciate all the responses but something a reader of my post here needs to understand, I think the hype behind kingsfall is overrated
Most of the King's Fall weapons were really good actually? I'm confused as to why you think they weren't. Also speak for yourself, my team went flawless in Trials with someone using ToM. Very powerful gun if you're willing to make some sacrifices.

Bearbeitet von cycofreak3: 6/29/2021 8:26:22 PMNeat weapons, each encounter was completely different from the last... there was a bit of everything, puzzles, cool boss encounters, jumping and basketball. I know you'll find most of that in any raid but not basketball. Seriously though for me it was a combination of all that and lore. Every boss you fought wasn't just a boss, the entire raid was an act of worship until we reached Oryx and killed him. I just love the Hive lore and the way they work, by slaughtering his forces, we were worshipping Oryx. Overall though I honestly can't say if that's nostalgia alone or if I'd honestly love to have it back. I remember enjoying VoG and it has a special place in my heart but I'm already over it, so... Oh and Wrath was definitely great as well with more unique encounters such as the death zamboni and it had Outbreak Prime and uts quest. It was probably the better executed raid in some ways but that's partly due to the fact that it happened to come after King's Fall, just as that came after Crota and VoG.

Taken king is when the destiny universe exploded and changed what everyone thought or the hive and brought new subclass and weapons. Not just a raid. A continued story.

You can’t tell me with a straight face that you genuinely believe appearance-wise that VoG weapons and Crota weapons looked better than King’s Fall weapons.
If you told me Vog or Crota or Wrath was your favorite raid for d1 I wouldn’t question it. Ah yes, can’t wait for “defend confluxes, fight giant Minotaur model and big hydra”. You think Crota’s End, a -blam!-ing strike was better than King’s Fall?
In my personal opinion Wrath was executed better in just about every aspect. The guns were worth using, outbreak prime quest was more intricate and the gun was useful outside of the raid. While I agree with you that the outbreak prime quest was more enjoyable, the raid itself was equivalent enjoyability wise. This isn’t a mind-blowing opinion. I did more raiding in D1 than 99% of the player base and I would say it goes VoG->KF->Crota->WoTM
-
Definitely preferred WotM, Kings Fall was amazing to run the first time and was a fun experience, but runs after that are just stand still for 2 hours if you are doing it with an LFG team and loses almost all enjoyment of the raid for me, and most of the loot was pretty average minus a select few. I think people just have some rose tinted glasses when looking back on it, and the fact that Taken King really brought the game back to life and KF was probably a lot of people's first raid. Oryx is definitely the most epic raid boss from any raid though, and I LOVED Touch of Malice in D1, so I can see why people like it so much, but I do agree that Wrath had much better weapons, though I didn't like the armor very much until Age of Triumphs.

Preferred wotm and vog.

Kings fall was a personal favourote due to the amount of bosses. I mean if you think about it in hindsight now. The only raids to feature 4 bosses were kings fall and last wish. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed all raids but these 2 are at the top of the tier due to the amount of boss fight encounters. It makes the raids longer and actually makes them feel like a raid itself! You kinda work your way up in those raids by taking down the best entities that the main villain has to offer you before you finally work your way to fighting the king of them all. That'd ehat made kings fall so goated. Not the loot. But just the experience and sheer size if the raid! I wish bungie did more like this with every raid but it's sadly not the case anymore:( just have to hope the witch queens raid will be of that scale!

Only thing I hated was when we defeated sisters and we're about to start oryx, people would leave left and right lmao
-
Cause it's the best raid. Best boss. Oryx>>>>>>>woke savathun.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von michael: 6/28/2021 10:28:36 PMOnly raid that I feel like blinds people with nostalgia with vog. Yes for its time it was good but id literally rather do a leviathan lair than d1 vog. I can look at vog fairly objectively because it was not my first raid in d1. I played since vanilla but was completely solo until house of wolves so I didn't know what it was like to do vog when it was a fresh and nuanced experience, and maybe that is for the best because it means I can see its flaws for what they are and good lord does it have some that completely ruin it... it is a bottom 5 destiny raid imo. The d2 version is what it always should have been. In terms of kings fall I place it up with wrath of the machine as tied for the best one, if anything Id probably give the edge to wrath because of the loot and the impeccable encounter design even though I think king's fall has a much more engaging setting and theme/story.

Wrath was overrated. 2 boss phases is lazy. The raid was great up to that point
-
I can get why Kingsfall is so loved. It is an extremely well put together raid with great mechanics, and those weapons were pretty good if you ask me (scout, shotgun, sniper, heavy machine gun). The encounters were very good for the most part and fun. Now vault of glass on the other hand, was an absolute snoozefest. Some of the most boring encounters in any raid thst just slogged on for an incredibly long time. Confluxes and oracles can't even be considered encounters if you ask me. Atheon and Templar were good, but everything else? 😴😴😴. I couldn't tell you why everyone loves that raid for any reason other than nostalgia. The d2 re-release is wayyyy better
-
One word really.
Darkness
That is all.
-
Kingsfall is my favorite raid. Can't really explain why. Wrath of the Machine was also phenomenal. Haven't really enjoyed a raid since.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von YATM: 6/28/2021 8:09:38 PMKingsfall was the best because of the memorable boss fights. I love vault of glass and wrath of the machine, but Crota is not even in the top five. My list: KF LW (riven no cheese is the best final boss IMO) VoG WoTM DSC SoTP CE GoS CoS Leviathan EoW SoS

3 AntwortenLiterally the worst raid they've ever made I'd rather do the D1 taniks activity prepatch

Bearbeitet von HUNTSPOINT20: 6/28/2021 9:12:28 PMbecause that raid showed the potential of what a good raid should be. It had Epic Boss fights and yes the weapons were sub-par but those Boss fights were terrifying. Remember when i first fought Golgoroth my team was pissing in their pants we couldnt be him for hours.

5 AntwortenFound it so boring like most raids

Bearbeitet von Kouz_MC: 6/28/2021 7:44:17 AMIt’s because of the format. The storytelling was amazing, the taken and new subclasses revolutionized how we played the game, we had to pursue Oryx, beat him after an immersive campaign, and then had to go beat his new form in the raid. Kingsfall was the pinnacle of the expansion. It was beautiful and filled with emblematic bosses. The dreadnaught had plenty of secrets and offered many different activities including the court of Oryx. Several strikes were added, each of them were creative and engaging. I think a lot of people shared great memories also because that was when Bungie enjoyed the biggest success/crowd. I mean there were 5 to 6x more players, and those numbers were not made of recovs. That said Oryx fight was so bugged with that last ogre teleporting that many of us were extremely salty, and the leveling system was upsetting many others. Last but not least, you probably missed those 3 touch of malice trials runs.
-
Context is everything. Kingsfall was the raid that released with The Taken King expansion. Taken King was where Bungie fixed a LOT of the problems associated with vanilla Destiny 1....and the community got a glimpse into the potential of Destiny as an MMO/RPG/FPS hybrid. Much of that community good will spilled over onto Kingsfall because the community really liked The Taken King....and it was the climax of a campaign story that people really liked. The Final Death of Oryx. But...yeah...as a standalone experience, there are much better raids than Kingsfall IMO. Kingsfall felt too much like a mechanical exercise, and too little like a firefight.
-
I am not a Kingsfall loyalist, but it was pretty good. Personally, for me, the Golgeroth fight is one of my favorite raid fights. Especially if you drop orbs back to back and rotate gaze, really fun. The scale of it was really cool as well. The ship jumping at the beginning is a great example. The sound and atmosphere is really great and oryx music was epic. Definitely better then the two raids before it IMO. I thought wrath was the most fun as well. But Kingsfall really felt like a mission to another world, which it was, to take out the big bad. Oh, and the lmg was a solid gun from that raid and sniper was decent. Otherwise yeah, not so great. Armor was really useful in raid though, more than most. Yr3 ornaments look pretty good too.
-
1 AntwortenI think it's more nostalgic. The previous raid before kings fall was crota which was a glorified strike tbh. Oryx was the greatest threat we faced at the time. Golgoroth was one of my favorites encounters of all time honestly. Wrath was top tier for sure.
-
Bearbeitet von juppstrunz911: 7/2/2021 7:07:11 AMWell I liked Kingsfall because of the encounters. Did not really care for the Loot. Guns were crappy like you said. But it was the raid we had the most fun on.
-
The raid was fun, but I enjoyed the Crotas end raid/ dlc more The guns were better and allowed for elemental primary
