On Series X that’s 819GB of space that cost $200 US to expand and requires a proprietary SSD. The days of Bungie allowing this game to grow uncontrollably are over. The console market won’t tolerate it.

It's a bit disappointing that they have to restrict storage expansion to PCIe to avoid the headache of ignorant consumers trying to expand their storage using HDDs. SATA SSDs are cheaper per GB than NVMe (PCIe), and, in my opinion, aren't a significant downgrade when loading games. OS boot, yes, it would be, while fast boot/startup is a not an enabled feature. The proprietary requirement for Microsoft sucks, but it's a movement toward a subscription-based gaming model. I think they want to eventually phase Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass into a single subscription service rather than the current segregated model.

If your a console gamer who plays alot of games. Its almost mandatory to have an external drive that you can transfer games to and from.
