Let me preface this by saying that I am not a new player by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve been on and off with the game since D1 and can usually find some sense of enjoyment with the game when I return.
With that out of the way, imagine you’re a new player that is working through the new light campaign and you get to the crucible side of it. For those of you that haven’t decided to pull the new light campaign from the kiosk, yes, crucible is a big part of the quest line. You join your first match and you might do decent or you might, like most new players, keep dying to ability spam and weapons that are no longer obtainable. In the current sandbox the biggest ability abuse is stasis. For a free to play user this can be frustrating to go against but for those of you that paid for the dlc you’re on the same level. I won’t focus too much on stasis for this post but I will say stasis is total pay to win right now.
The main point of this post is to focus on sunset weapons and matchmaking from the point of view of a new player. You can send me all the hate mail you want but if Bungie wants to keep new players on board then sunsetting should remove all of those weapons from the sandbox. You have a portion of dedicated players that severely outmatch new players in skill and loadout with most meta weapons in quick play being sunset with no way for new players to obtain them. This creates a sense of hopelessness amongst new players which eventually leads to most of them leaving. As time goes on the player base will diminish leaving only the dedicated players. This may not seem bad to some of you but your matchmaking times will get longer and matches will become less fun as it inevitably reaches a sweat fest of tryhards. This will eventually push out the few of us that stayed as we conclude that the work is not worth the reward.
In my humble opinion one of two things should have happened if destiny were to breath new life into the player base through new players. Either Destiny 3 should have happened or sunset weapons should have been barred from crucible use. Regardless a reset needs to happen so that new players can find enjoyment upon entry.

2 Antwortenpushed away vets to. wont touch ability freeze tag meta.

Sunsetting has made any old weapon only viable IN pvp. You ban every sunsetted weapon from pvp, and then there really WOULDN'T be any point in putting in effort for new weapons. They'll be useless in EVERYTHING then. Not to mention the kick to the already blue balls of those who put in effort for their gear.

Just check out the post I made.

Honestly, I prefer the “sweatfest “ if it’s too easy I lose interest immediately, I want an enemy just a deadly as me.

LOL and to think you believe this is pushing away new players.......nope bud sorry to tell you its pushing away the entire community except the cheap kills no skills crew who like to slide corners with a no skill felwinters or use a 120 one shot handcannon.

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von CeramicSugar248: 12/31/2020 5:06:10 AMIf you come to destiny for pvp your doing it wrong period There are some really good fps out there with dedicated servers, weapon balancing, techniquely stable, good spawns, decent match making. Destiny doesnt tick any of the above boxes in terms of good pvp experience for new or existing players. so its a rather mute point regardless of sunsetting or stasis

Crucible is pushing away old players too. Deleted after pay to win crucible ice simulator dropped.

How about you let them decide for themselves before you make assumptions
