The drop rates for Ciphers is so **disastrously** low, that you guys really need to get ahead of this, and offer the player base some sort of explanation. My only hope is that this is some sort of **bug** that manged to get past the quality-testers, and that this wasn't a deliberate strategy.
Rght now its looking like the drop rate for ciphers is less than one per hour of game play, which is simply unacceptable. Not only is this level of **stinginess** (there is simply no other word for it) shocking, it is a worst-case scenario. In that you have both a large loot pool AND a currency that being heavily-throttled.
Result?
I played for several hours yesterday, and managed to get a grand total of 4 Ciphers....and THREE of those were because I played on two characters, played the initial strike, and was lucky enough to get a two-for-one drop on my second character. Three hours of world play---including two 1020 Nightfalls netted me ONE Cipher. The only gun that I received was an Omolon sidearm that has been dropping in the game for THREE years now. WTF?!?!?
Here's what stinginess with rewards costs you:
I LIKE 450 ARs, and had the reward structur for this even been reasonable, I'd have been happy to grind to get good rolls for these weapons to position myself well for the upcoming year and replace the ones I will lose to Sunsetting.
But, given what's going on right now, what WILL happen I will resentfully put in the hours to get the cosmetic items from Eva....and then I'm out.
UNREWARDED grinding IS NOT CONTENT.
Dragging out thin content with super low drop rates will not incentivize players to play more. It will make them angry and cause them TO DISENGAGE from the game.
The player base has been telling you this for years, but you just **stubbornly** refuse to listen......
Why?

4 AntwortenSpent my stashed bright dust for that amazing warlock dracula chest in 3 minutes. Then realised I was done with the event's loot thanks to the available non-cash loot <-> required time investment axis. So I got all I wanted. In 3 minutes. From the cash shop. See you in beyond light. No preorders though.

18 AntwortenJanuary of 2015, right after Bungie got back from their holiday vacation, they sent out random packages from an "unknown benefactor" to every players account. Mine decrypted into a scout rifle called Another NITC. It rolled with Firefly and Outlaw, basically it was a Fatebringer scout. I used that scout forever, up until Bungo pulled their first of several "soft resets" when Taken King launched. It was such a nice, unexpected token of appreciation. To my recollection, Bungo has never done this since. Something has changed in the culture of Bungo since those early days.

2 Antworten
My only hope is that this is some sort of **bug** that manged to get past the quality-testers, and that this wasn't a deliberate strategy.
That excuse has been used 1 million times before by Bungie. They either have extremely incompetent quality-testers or are incredibly dishonest. I lean towards the second possiblity.

1 AntwortenThe original loot cave of D1 is proof that if the rewards are generous enough even the most bland activity becomes alluring and exciting because of the payout. Once the basic content is done the rewards are the rewards... not the journey already traveled probably countless times.

2 AntwortenHow else would you get a cipher? I thought you only got them from the pass and from that little mission on mars
The player base has been telling you this for years, but you just **stubbornly** refuse to listen......
And this is really the heart of the issue, Bungie doesn't listen, and more over they don't learn. No other company in gaming has gotten as many second chances as Bungie and no other company has managed to fumble the ball as consistently. Say what you want about Call of Duty, but they at least manage to change up the train wreck each year. Festival of the Lost should have been a lay up, but instead here we are, already glimpsing the problems.

Because they dont want to plain and simple. In their minds they believe we will leave the franchise if they are too generous or they just are people from Birdbox with blindfolds on. They probably got on ear plugs as well. They dont want to hear anyone with sound reasoning or logic telling them how to make the game better. Plus their play test environment is much more accurate than our hand-on data we give them daily.

I completely agree. The Haunted Forest takes 15+ minutes by itself on top of having to do other activities that have like a 1/10 chance of dropping a cipher. I still have yet to get a Horror Story after 10+ chest unlocks.
-
Would it being more obtainable really be considered generosity? We...are kind of the ones who fund these events and so getting what we pay for is...how do I say it...to be expected? Them being STNGY is a problem.

12 AntwortenIts amazing to see how many people consider someone to be a white knight just because they've defended literally any of bungies positions. They're all acting surprised that someone can actually have their own opinions rather than just siding with or against a corporation.

3 AntwortenI did three Ordeal strikes, I received a Cipher after each one. It looks like you need to go flawless through the strike to get the best possible chance..

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von CookieNiki: 10/7/2020 6:57:50 PMYou are 100% right, obviously, but unfortunately I don't believe this is happening because of some bug that managed to dodge whatever quality test they made (if any at all). To be completely honest, when I saw in the TWAB that this was going to be a one month event, I immediately thought to myself that Bungie would use all the means they have to stretch this event as much as they could, to work as a filler until we're near BL launch. Low effort copy/paste event, with two recycled weapons and on top of it a insanely absurd low drop rate of the only currency that gives access to 83% of the final chests. And to add insult to injury, if you happen yo have any cypher and use it, all you get from those chests are 750 power legendary weapons. 750 POWER! Yeah, this is clearly Bungie at their "best", no doubt about it.

I thought everyone was joking, or just not lucky or as they said a bug. After idk how many hours of NF, gambit, crucible, I walked away with 2 lol. 1 which is almost a guarantee from the quest you start and the 2nd 1 from gambit. This has got to be the worse piece of crap I have ever experienced. This is an event, I said this before, an event shouldnt jave this level of grindyness to it. It should be fun with a tiny bit grind to get the style/gear you want. They treat these events like it's some sort of end game raid, which makes it not desirable to play if it's this stingy. There are few games I play that do events like these, and it's nowhere near as stingy or unrewarding as what bungie does. It's like, every time an event drop its rewards and grind gets more stupid and stingy. Again it's an event that comes 1x a year, there shouldnt be this lvl of grind to it, it's just boring as fk. I just walked away, screw it I dont care what I miss out on. P.S. is the new armor only available through everpurse? Or they drop from the cypher chests as well? Just wanted to know because there wasnt any explanation to how to get em. Thanks in advance
-
And then you follow that up with " I will resentfully put in the time to get the cosmetic items". This community doesn't get it, Bungie dont care if you hate it as long as you play it.

Bungie finally drove Kelly insane 😂🤣

3 AntwortenThe really sad part is that if players could get literally hundreds of drops per day of the weapon they want, maybe it could hurt a tiny bit by giving them a lot more minor materials. Maybe, but highly unlikely. All a player can really get from grinding forest chests is 1-2 weapons with the roll they want. They can't sell extra god roll weapons, and having more than one is merely a convenience, since they can be freely transferred between characters. Maybe Bungie thinks it would be worse to give a player a hundred chances at their god roll and not get it than to give them 10 and not get it.

4 AntwortenGot 1 Chiper today. All excited! Opened the chest and got an old 750 chest piece. If this is some sort or trick and treat thing then i got tricked :(

21 AntwortenBut this is what YOU wanted, this is what YOU defend! Now you say it’s no longer ok? 🤯

2 AntwortenIts almost like theyre designing destiny like a mobile game. Has the penny dropped yet kelly.....

2 AntwortenCareful there, Kelly. This is dangerously close to criticism of bungie.

1 AntwortenHow about a Decipher per Umbral engram, eh? Lol!
-
4 AntwortenSo you have finally opened your eyes to the blatant disregard bungie has for its playerbase and overall greedy tactics they constantly pull. It's okay we were all there once. Believing in bungie. Thinking they could do no wrong. That everything was Activision fault for the state of the game. Now you know.

3 AntwortenI had recently pre ordered Beyond Light deluxe edition as the next step in my Destiny travels but have been getting really pissed off with the unending grinding for absolutely -blam!- all reward I have been chasing the Dreaming City Ghost Drop (Starlight Shell) in order to complete the Dreaming City Badge for the Cursebreaker seal You have to complete the Dreaming City f*****g ascendant challenge just to get this poxy ghost to drop I have lost count as to how many times I have completed this just to get multiple drops of armour and weapons of the same type over and over again I have had enough So I have cancelled my pre-order of Beyond Light and will only be playing the free options from now on
