The drop rates for Ciphers is so **disastrously** low, that you guys really need to get ahead of this, and offer the player base some sort of explanation. My only hope is that this is some sort of **bug** that manged to get past the quality-testers, and that this wasn't a deliberate strategy.
Rght now its looking like the drop rate for ciphers is less than one per hour of game play, which is simply unacceptable. Not only is this level of **stinginess** (there is simply no other word for it) shocking, it is a worst-case scenario. In that you have both a large loot pool AND a currency that being heavily-throttled.
Result?
I played for several hours yesterday, and managed to get a grand total of 4 Ciphers....and THREE of those were because I played on two characters, played the initial strike, and was lucky enough to get a two-for-one drop on my second character. Three hours of world play---including two 1020 Nightfalls netted me ONE Cipher. The only gun that I received was an Omolon sidearm that has been dropping in the game for THREE years now. WTF?!?!?
Here's what stinginess with rewards costs you:
I LIKE 450 ARs, and had the reward structur for this even been reasonable, I'd have been happy to grind to get good rolls for these weapons to position myself well for the upcoming year and replace the ones I will lose to Sunsetting.
But, given what's going on right now, what WILL happen I will resentfully put in the hours to get the cosmetic items from Eva....and then I'm out.
UNREWARDED grinding IS NOT CONTENT.
Dragging out thin content with super low drop rates will not incentivize players to play more. It will make them angry and cause them TO DISENGAGE from the game.
The player base has been telling you this for years, but you just **stubbornly** refuse to listen......
Why?

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von Veldrin: 10/8/2020 12:29:43 PMThis is definitely not a bug. As a low-content looter-shooter developer, what Bungie is right now, this "bug" is definitely intended. They need grind to keep the players playing the game.

1 AntwortenAh KG we meet again. Its nice to see you on the right side of things, and as another hardcore player since d1, I agree fully. I've been disappointed in the holiday events in destiny for years and for a simple reason. Rewards. You play another game during halloween or christmas and the rewards usually feel worth it. Something to grind for, something new. I uniquely themed set of armor, weapons, ships etc. In destiny it's just "oh here's a mummified Arcadia, ghost and sparrow". Its boring, bland, unimaginative. This year does not have a new weapon, or even a weapon skin for the "new versions" of the returning guns. We don't need some god tier weapon either, just something to stand out from the rest of the game. Imagine coming up to Eva and looking in her inventory and seeing a jagged/damaged scout rifle all covered in cobwebs or something. That would hit the theme. Put that next to a UFO themed ship and you have yourself a Halloween event. Obviously that's not especially creative in itself but it popped into my head in about 10 seconds, so what's the dev team doing? We need more themed loot during holidays. Christmas should have icy themed guns/armor too. Not just dawning color shaded guns KG we've had our disagreements before and I'm sure we will again but we definitely need to stand together with this type of thing. The events are underwhelming to say the least and the store is way too expensive. I support in game shops but not for $10 emotes and $15 armor ornaments. Let's not fight, whether we agree or not, but we can debate if that's what it comes to.

7 AntwortenYup, managed to talk my buddy into farming for some Cyphers today. After about 3 hours and he’s gotten 4 he said “welp, I’m going back to Division where my time matters.” That a true statement. Right now they have an apparel even going on and the loot is actually obtainable. Got to say that I don’t know if I can do this grind to 45 keys or not...

Bearbeitet von akyruz: 10/8/2020 3:59:10 PMChanging a "number" in an item drop rate seems to be hard... but changing an activity matchmaking system (like in forges) takes less than 24 hours... priorities, my friend. EDIT: It's like Bungie employees themselves are paying cyphers out of their salary... or if we have too much fun with this game we will create a space/time distortion and the whole universe will collapse.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Althanash: 10/8/2020 6:09:18 AMHas to be a bottleneck somewhere. If the rolls are random the ciphers need to be flowing more freely. It's not that they refuse to listen. They simply keep choosing the path of least resistance and worry about it later. Like a few games out there. We're forever in Beta release instead of a finished product. It's the price we pay for settling for lack luster half baked games. I'll take my time grinding this event this year cuz warlock go skrrt skrrt. But to have expected anything well structured was dumb. They're polishing the looks of Beyond Light then gonna go on break for a month while we deal with the problems they "didn't foresee tm". TLDR: Event was a copy paste with an added bottleneck to keep people playing repeatedly. But companies (especially Bungie in Destiny) need to start wisening up. Their players aren't as dumb as they once were. Ooooh before I forget. They did get generous when they added infusion. They get too generous we swing to far in the wrong direction and we're back at square one. Hopefully they get as close to balance as they can.

3 AntwortenI have 4 you can have mine... why u guys spent time on such a useless event for weapons u will never ever use?

1 Antwortenep round 7 final boss the chest he drops seems to have a high cipher drop rate :)

2 AntwortenThey made a conscious change which means they know but they just don't gaf.

Why? Whatever do you mean with "why"? Of course Bungo isn't gonna be generous! Whattya think they're makin, a rewarding loot-based game? Course not! This is an FPS attempting and failing to be too many different things for too many different players, built only for the slog and those susceptible to it. Same reason why sunsetting's a thing. Same reason why nothing will ever change. And you're here askin' "why". You already know why. Everyone knows why! Even those who don't wanna admit it!

Honestly, I play for 6-10 hours daily. I’m home on disability. I’ve gotten a total of 8 which includes the 3(one from each character). Bungie this is awful. I know you want to spread this event out over the 30 days but seriously, all you are doing is making it not worth playing. I have clan mates already giving up because they have jobs and school so they don’t have the time at this rate. I’ve got all the masks. I might as well say screw the ship, sparrow, and ghost and farm coins and candy for materials out of the goody bags. This is usually my favorite event for my all time favorite holiday, I mean come on I got married on Halloween. This time around you’ve made it completely non-enjoyable

2 AntwortenOn top of that the weapon drop rate from the cheats seems poor. I hoarded 5 decoders and opened all 5 chest -> no auto. My friend opened 3 and also received no weapon drop. Considering the poor cipher drop rate it doesn’t give any incentive to do this event. Oh but don’t worry I got some old weapons that are being sunset to drop at 750. Nice.

6 AntwortenShit would be patched within an hour if we were getting too much ciphers. Guaranteed.

Bungie playtests
-
How very bold of you to assume Bungie playtest this joke of a game.
-
2 AntwortenMate, if even you are getting pissed off with this game, then I know it’s time to leave. May I suggest Avengers? That’s keeping me going until cyberpunk. I haven’t played D2 for a few weeks now and I gotta tell you, it feels good!
-
I believe they know and are investigating the issue. Chill out. Relax.
-
5 AntwortenI must've taken all the ciphers cause I've gotten one on almost every strike.
-
3 AntwortenMaking things slower to obtain = being a bad human being. Some people really feel emotionally attacked when they don't get the easy way.
-
3 AntwortenWhen fireteam members open chests with ciphers, do you also get the drops?
-
I’m just waiting at this point..... keeping an eye on the well rolled raid weapons and that’s about it. No point in stressing and they are notorious for wiping your time and hard fought gains. Just look at the hopscotch pilgrim through until god knows when. I look forward to the DLC and hoping they also add to their mistakes rather than just erase (literally half of everything owned!)
-
It's a part of their current monetization strategy.
-
I logged on for roughly an hour and a half yesterday. No ciphers but I got 7 umbral engrams and 401 candies. Bungie probably meant they would be generous on candies and chocolate coins and not ciphers.
-
Don't worry, it'll be fixed for next year's Festival of the Lost. =]
-
Wow, Kelly, for once I have to wholeheartedly agree with you! :) This is a real issue, but one which I've become sick of long ago and have been a lapsed player since March this year. I've just had enough of the game overall.
