Armor looks....
All armor has nothing to add functionally. It's not like wearing more than one piece of a specific armor set gives us any bonuses. Everything prior to season 10should be an armor ornament.
Compared to let's say Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Diablo 3 as an example.
What is we had a Fire, Arc, Void or Stasis set. Where wearing more than one piece would give other bonuses to a max when wearing the full set. Then you would have to choose which armor to wear for specific activities.
Example: Holdfast set. Every piece equipped gives you a 5% resistance to Fallen. Wearing the full set gives you a 10% damage boost to bosses and champions.
Example: Season 12 set. Every piece gives you a 2% damage boost to all stasis abilities. Wearing all 5 pieces nets you a resistance to cold attacks by 20%.
You could combine some sets as well... 3 pieces of Holdfast for 15% resist to fallen. 2 pieces season 12 for 4% more damage of stasis, etc... Mix and match.
We could have a set for each elemental subclass. A set for every enemy type. A set for weapon type...
Example: Season 13 set : Each piece that you wear increases Rocket Launcher velocity and damage by 5%. Wearing the full set increases maximum Rocket launcher ammo by 3 and your AOE resistances are increased by 25%.
Example: Auto Rifles, SMGs, LMGs, Suros Sidearms, have increased reload and handling speed for every piece of armor you wear. Full set: Stowed rapid fire weapons are automatically reloaded. Once you ready your weapon gain a 3 second boost to range.
Who cares about the looks... make them more functional!

Bearbeitet von Veldrin: 9/15/2020 2:03:08 AMI don't like your idea at all. Reasons: Looks matter (The right look gives you a damage boost about 20%) The RNG is already bad enough and your suggestions would make this problem even bigger Not even talking about sunsetting which makes the problem bigger itself Your suggestions are way to restrictive/RPGlike. I don't like too much restrictive RPG elements. I prefer the mod system and I would go one step fruther and allow every mod in every armor. Why the -blam!- need I raid armor or dreaming city armor to equip FALLEN mods. I tell you why? Artificial Grind for a better revenue for bungie. There is a whole SUBREDDIT for fashion/transmog/appearance. It matters. Maybe not for you. Yeah there are a lot of gamers that press "random" button while creating a character and then helmet stays on. It is crazy HOW MANY players like that are out there. But there are same amount of players that invest hours and hours with shaders and different armor sets and whatnot to make their guardian look exactly how they want. People are different. There are the mathematical players that care only about efficiency, looks are tertiary. THen there are players inbetween and then there are players that care about the look of their character very much.

That would require Bungie to actually make an effort which they have not done in years.
-
While I think this is a very interesting concept, they use Mods for much of that already. Not to mention, to implement this, they would have to create whole new sets of Armor for everything. What would be more likely to happen is they would be added as more random perks to everything instead of as sets. Also, the Armor perks are already overly complicated and often underwhelming. This would add a whole other level to the bad RNG of D2. One more thing, most Guardians do care about appearances. We are supposed to be Demigods after all, not Space Hobos.

4 AntwortenNah. Looks are important. D1 sets looked crisp. Details in the armor were accentuated. In D2, the armor is more dingy. The aesthetics can be improved.

2 AntwortenJust get rid of graphics and go back to text based online games like the good old days😝 Shoot dire promise at bigdog655 You have been killed by bigdog655 using arbalest Bigdog655 approaches your corpse Bigdog655 crouches Bigdog655 stands Bigdog655 crouches Bigdog655 stands Bigdog655 crouches Quit Do you really want to quit (y/n)?

Screw armor lock. I hate armor lock.

They look like shit tho

i've been saying this for years along with damage resistance on your selected subclass as well. gonna be a void warlock today? get x% damage resistance to void attacks/weapons. i mean, if i'm a sunbreaker i should be able to stand in a pool of fire and not be damaged near as much, ya know?

Bearbeitet von franram: 9/14/2020 6:29:49 PMThe thing is though endgame revolves around creating your guardian. And the most noticeable way of expressing this is through armor or weapons. So if someone wants to express themselves by customizing their appearance, and bungie doesnt deliver armor pieces that are worthy of wearing, then it takes away from an important aspect of the customization. Take d1 y3 age of triumph armor sets. Those were arguably the some of best looking sets d1 had to offer. So now there was a grind that people chased just customize themselves. The armor inherently might not be stronger, but it stylish enough to get people to participate in endgame content thus making your gameplay rewarding or at least you were doing it for a reason. If there are less reasons to grind for armor besides it being sunset, it means your play time is shortened and doesnt feel rewarding.

It would just give Bungie more things to have to balance, and honestly (and no offense, but...) I don't think they can handle that.
-
I like the idea of having set bonuses.

The true end game is the Barbie Runway for our guardians to walk down.

The Fashion War IS THE ONLY WAR!

People say they don't care about how it looks but billions of dollars of microtransactions prove that in general we absolutely do care. We play a superhero, we want to look cool. Not everyone of course, but in general. As far as functionality, they've thrown their lot in on the Mod system for v2.0 so sets of pieces like in Division 2 are not going to happen and would make the whole system even more convoluted than it is now.
