1) a movie ticket is like 8-10 bucks. This is 3 times that.
2) this is on a streaming service you already paid for. So... thats a thing.
3) there isn't much hype for this movie. At all. In fact its widely expected to suck from the sounds of it.
*edit* 4) I see some people pointing out that 30 dollars is less than a movie ticket for "whole family". And a "whole family" could watch this for 30 dollars. I think that's dumb because the going rate for on demand movies is far less.
Frankly I hope this strategy bombs hard. I would hate to see "you can watch this movie on a premium service for 30 dollars lol" become a thing post covid.

Supply and demand. First milk the chums who will spend $30. In a couple weeks it will be a reasonable price. Are you new to capitalism, kid?

2 Antworten1. They are testing what the market will bear. 2. The movie has production costs to recover, and investors who expect a return on their money. If you feel it’s too much, keep your wallet closed. Let’s Disney know exactly how you feel.

Somebody has to fund the CEO's bonus, now that the parks aren't bringing in the cash. It'll be on dvd at your library in six months so just wait for that.

Some high quality expensive shit I guess

Especially since the movie already exists, and all they did is make it live action

7 AntwortenIt's only getting a theatric release in China, everywhere else it's streaming only. I don't think they have high expectations. The remarks by the lead actress supporting the Hong Kong police certainly didn't help either. But let's face it, this will likely do well in China (and China alone), and during a movie lull no less. It will likely be seen as a (relative) "success" and further give hollywood an excuse to double down on appeasing the Chinese market.

I mean I was pretty excited about it ngl, and besides who doesn’t watch a Disney movie as a group so if you have a family of 4 than that’s not bad. Think it is dumb that you have to pay for it still, but what you gunna do theaters are closed
they better be open for Kingsman
Eh. There are people who spend that much in a week on coffee or beer.
Sorry, all out of salt.
One time purchase to enjoy with the while family? Regardless, I was going to see it, but now I am not.

1 Antworten1st: Where do you live that a movie ticket is so cheap???? I need to move there! Tickets here are $11 for the cheap showings. Most showings are $15-20, with 3D, IMAX, etc. being even more expensive. It sucks to go to the movies. 2nd: The logic here is that you're paying once. If you saw it in theaters, you have to pay for your ticket, your wife's tickets, your kids' tickets (if applicable). If you're a family watching Mulan, you save money by watching it on Disney+. Don't have to pay $50 or more just to go check out a movie at the theater. For $30, you can show the movie to as many people as you can fit in the room. If it's only you and one other person tho, you're definitely getting ripped off. And Disney is perfectly okay with that.

I remember the good ole days when satellite dish’s were big and bulky... https://imgur.com/a/X2N25yK and The Disney Channel was free.

I dunno, but I'm about to put in the old VHS and I want some.

1 AntwortenWhy is -blam!- censored, but Zanthar isn’t? It’s the same name just spelled different. Bungie wants me to pay $30 for Mulan but they won’t let me praise Lord -blam!- in peace. Smh.
