Bungie, it's time to talk about Bastion. This gun is the definition of busted. It's been seeing more and more use every week, and I'm afraid by the time it's addressed, it'll be another Erentil situation where a fusion rifle with extraordinary capabilities and extremely high ease of use is able to run wild in the sandbox for the better part of the year before Bungie even acknowledges it.
Let's compare its stats to that of Erentil, the undisputed best legendary fusion rifle in the game:
Charge Time
Erentil- 860
Erentil w/ Accelerated Coils- 820
Bastion- 780
Damage
Erentil- 336 (7 bolts x 48 each)
Bastion- 631 (21 slugs x 30 each)
Bastion charges 9.3% faster than Erentil (4.9% faster than Erentil w/ accelerated coils) and does 87.8% more damage, or 1.87x.......
Are you -blam!-ing kidding me?
The reason I call it a foundationally unbalanced exotic is the fact that it has no real limitations. It has a charge time faster than the TTK of almost all primaries, and does enough damage to kill three opponents in a single shot.
What real counter is there to that?
Strafing? Nope, it's hitscan and only 6-7 slugs are needed for a kill. Yes, the user can miss over two-thirds of the slugs and secure a kill.
Timing? Nope, it's charge time allows people to use it in a reactionary manner which is counterintuitive to the intended use of high-impact fusion rifles. Rapid-fire fusion rifles are intended to be used in a reactionary manner, while high-impacts are supposed to be used preemptively. Bastion is a fusion rifle that can be used like a shotgun.
Now I'll share a personal experience that I believe supports my point.
I played a team in Trials last night that got to game 5 simply because they were all three using Bastion. They took us to the brink. We won 5-4.
Their average stats between the three of them is 0.88 KD, 1364 ELO, 37.7% win rate. None of them have ever been flawless.
Our average stats? 1.41 KD, 1923 ELO, 72% win rate. All been flawless 10+ times. According to DestinyTracker, we had a 92% chance of winning.
Their win rate for the week was 50.7%, up from their usual 37.7%.
I'd provide the link but I'd rather not get "met with Ninja justice" for breaking an imaginary rule. Anyone can look through my game history and match it up with the stats I provided.
The reason this is relevant is that it shows how a weapon like Bastion can singlehandely improve a player's performance. This team was hot GARBAGE and they able to compete with much better teams simply by equipping a busted exotic.
Please address this sooner rather than later, Bungie. Weapons like this shrink the skill gap more the longer they go untouched.
And if you don't have an actual argument other than that you enjoy using it, or the false narrative that PvP nerfs kill weapons in PvE, don't bother commenting.

12 AntwortenStop complaining and get good! It’s a fusion rifle. Expect to get your ass handed to you. It’s a fusion rifle! 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️

My erentil still kills cossitently at 35 meters with firmlly planted + rangefinder . Bastion will hardly hand you a kill past 15 meters. Sure it does more dmg and charges faster but you gotta be very close so i don't see your point

1 AntwortenMan, every time a fun gun is discovered there are people screaming for nerfs. Last month it was Hard Light. Some people were having a blast using it, and others like me were having a blast countering it. Bastion is making a comeback, that’s cool.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Pocket Fox: 5/3/2020 4:56:50 AMSo one team in Trials gives you trouble with a weapon you don't like and you run to the forums to whine about it?

1 Antworten
Bungie, it's time to talk about Bastion.
No, it's not. Stfu.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Soupreem: 5/3/2020 2:29:34 AMHere's what you missed; - Bastion maxes out at about... 12 meters, Erentil can hit 20. - Standard fusion rifles are usable, but completely godawful right now, so it makes sense that the one that's got some form of power is the only one being widely used. - OHK on supers requires most of every pellet in a single burst to hit, with a gun that takes .78 seconds to charge. If you're losing out of super to anything, Bastion included, that's completely on you. - Going on the "usage = power" argument, Bastion isn't even the most used Special weapon in any gamemode. Revoker, Beloved, Mindbender's, and Astral all beat it. - Need I also mention you can't use Revoker with it? The absolute best game speed controlling weapon in Trials? That can also kill .78 seconds faster at Bastion's absolute fastest? At any range? You have summoned me.

1 AntwortenDamn. Little Johnny is upset that his skills were put to the test by a team running Bastion. My takeaway from this post. Kudos to the Bastion users. I wish they would of won and sent you crying back to your momma. Learn to adapt your play if the gun causes you such pain? Naaah. It’s easier to cry nerf on the forum. That’s what scrubs do. You’re not a scrub so grow a pair.

Comparing an exotic to a legendary....smh

Well that didn't take the crucibabies long to move on to their next "nerf it" target.

3 AntwortenSomeone on youtube makes a video and BAM! Its suddenly a problem lmfao Yall fûckin suck. Stop watching videos and try your own builds.

1 AntwortenIt's pretty easy to keep at arms length once you know it's in play, especially with its range and charge time. If you're just pushing any red corner and not respecting the damage/consistency of Bastion, you're likely to die Completely counterable and your anecdote just sounds like your team didn't respect what Bastion can do in its wheelhouse

I think you mean fundamentally, sorry to be a dick

5 AntwortenMindbender has 50% more kills then Bastion in Trials. Why are we talking about Bastion again?

I see why people cheat, broken guns make them do it...,CHEATERS PLEASE KICK EVERY BASTION USER OFFLINE LOL

1 AntwortenSo you got killed by someone you thought you should beat easily with a weapon hardly anyone uses and is basically a charge time shotgun... yeah... been there... got over it and played the next game

1 AntwortenThe gun has shotgun range.

3 AntwortenYeah I think bastion is a little bit to strong and isnt as counterable as the "most skilled" loadout HC and Mindbanders but whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
