People keep telling me that the reason I'm getting so much of the same when it comes down to Pinnacle loot is because of "bad RNG".
Bad rng, huh?
Bad RNG that garden of salvation, the 6 times I've run it this season has dropped me, 2 kinetics, and, this week, two chestpieces, and three boots (yes, I do challenges. I don't want to, but when it comes down to slot machines....), and the rest? Energy weapons.
100k Nightfalls.... all energies but one
well...what about Iron Banner?
1st Iron Banner, 3 energies (Wizened Rebuke, Hero's Burden, Claws of the Wolf), one kinetic (Crimil's Dagger).
This Iron Banner?
Across my hunter, titan, and Warlock, 4 kinetics, 9 energies, and 1 power.
Know when the last time was that I saw a power weapon pinnacle? February.
Do you know what three of my clanmates got from Iron Banner this week across their 3 characters?
Energy weapons. For every single bounty. Do you know what one person on my raid team for Garden of Salvation this week got? 5 Ancient Gospels. Yes, that's right. They got an Ancient Gospel in every chest including the challenge chest. Do you know what they needed? An armour piece. Because secret chests exist. Except, too bad for this guy. He can't get the raid to drop him some armour. Another guy got 2 Omniscient Eyes, 2 Reckless Oracles, and a Sacred Provenance. Nobody on that raid team got a single piece of armour except me. Know what I got? 2 chestpieces and 3 pairs of boots. Do you know what that character got out of Iron Banner? 4 energy weapons.
Know what I got last week?
GoS: 4 Energies, 1 Kinetic
NF: Energy
The previous week?
GoS: 4 Energies
NF: Energy
The one before that?
GoS: 5 Energies
NF: Kinetic
Noticing a trend?
If you'd also noticed the absence of Nightmare Hunts, well that might have something to do with the fact that only this week did I hit 1020, after grinding out 16 artifact power levels before hitting 1006 gear level.
Well what about Trials? Somebody might reasonably ask. To which I'd reply: Have you played Trials? Is that fun? Is that what you like to spend your time doing? I know I don't think Trials is very much fun. In fact, it's so much not fun, I haven't played since Friday of Widow's Court. Do you know why? Because Trials sucks and I don't hate myself enough to wade through the world of pain that is a game mode that exists solely for token farming corner camping hard light spamming crayon eating aimbotting cheating hackers who take any hopes and dreams of getting even as far as 3 wins and grind it under the bootheels of what amounts to the worst this community has to offer, only to teabag it afterwards because insult and injury are two things that seem to go so well together.
Now, I could run the statistics on this situation, and I would not be surprised to find that the odds of this distribution of pinnacle loot occupies an entropic state so vanishingly unlikely that it should occur as a freak accident across all possible distributions of potential results when weighted according to the boundary conditions of the system. That these "freak accidents" of extreme low-entropy states are occurring as regularly as they are is an indication that something has gone catastrophically wrong with the system.
In layman's terms, there's bad RNG and then there's the kind of busted RNG at Bungie which results in players, like me, farming 2 vault's worth of mechaneer's tricksleeves, lucky raspberry, and lucky pants out of Ordeals, and getting nothing but the same class of pinnacle gear week in and week out. If it was bad RNG, this wouldn't persist for weeks on end where the only hope you have of increasing your power level week after week is Pit of Heresy, sacrificing multiple powerful drops in the process.
If this wasn't a problem, Bungie wouldn't be addressing it by having ritual vendors, eventually, start dishing out pinnacle loot for completing weekly challenges. If this wasn't an issue, Bungie wouldn't have said anything about it, and people wouldn't be complaining.
Unfortunately, it's just one of a mountain of problems with this game.
Unfortunately, it seems the only way they have of getting a handle on this is by augmenting the statistical ensemble of pinnacle rewards to, ideally, increase the entropy of the system such that situations like the one I'm experiencing don't utterly obliterate loot incentive.
Unfortunately, this may come too little too late as I already can't be bothered to even do another Ordeal because a system this consistently bad bears sufficient predictive capability to reliably foresee a wasted effort and a waste of about two hours of my time with blueberries in PC LFG discord to get more worthless exotics and another pinnacle item I already have four or more of.
Unfortunately, this has created something of a situation of haves and have-nots in the community, which is another seed of division where players are squabbling with each other like ill-behaved children, which is just another issue that is doomed to remain a divisive one until Bungie fixes it, if they even can fix it.
Frankly, I'm writing this post 50% for Bungie, and 50% for the community of players frustrated with the same issue or who think it doesn't exist. It does. It's bad. It turns loot incentive into loot apathy and frustrates the ever living hell out of a playerbase getting steamrolled in power-enabled activities because of bullshit like this. By this point, last season, my pinnacle grind was over. I just did pinnacle activities for my own enjoyment, or to help out my friends. Now I'm stuck in pinnacle hell waiting for Bungie to increase the pinnacle sources because in a season that's already shaping up to be the absolute worst by far, this is just another grindy mountain of crap to go on the shit wagon this season is shaping up to be.
I'm not mad, Bungie. I'm not even disappointed. Frankly, this isn't even boring anymore. It's so predictable now, it's exhausting. And, you know, if this is the new status quo, whatever. I'll probably still play this broken mess of a game, it'll still be frustrating, but I'll just keep lowering the bar of my expectations until not even the cockroaches could squeeze their way under it. But until something else comes along that scratches the itch only Destiny 2 does, I'm stuck with this....whatever this is...

Agreed, even now with weekly strike/ gambit/ crucible pinnacle, which are only a +1 pinnacle, they absolutely drop 99.9999% of the time on a slot where there is already a higher piece of gear. 3 weeks in a row I’ve logged onto this woeful season to complete them to help my light level creep, to be disappointed again. I have an inactive clan so use LFG for the nightfall, and usually complete the pit with 1 other clan mate, but you guessed it, that +2 pinnacle ALWAYS drops on my highest piece of armour. Find myself in the same boat, I love the game, I’ve played this more than any other game out there, and I will continue to play, but something needs to change. Bungie need to reward the long serving players, not just try and tout for new business and give all ‘new light’ players immediate light level increase which I actually played for and was actually had to grind for. Also, you’re 100% right on trials, I never played D1 trials, and I’ve only done 2 weekends on D2. I’m a moderate crucible player, achieved legend, at a stretch I might add, once. But trials... no... that’s not fun. 1 weapon after one 3 streak, then never again. Hard light city. I hope something changes, like you say, some people agree, some people don’t. People have invested so much in this game, it shouldn’t just be for new players and the elite.. oh and for bounty completions...

1 AntwortenCompleted the 4 Iron banner pinnacle bounties earlier and all 4 gave me Bite of the fox. All. 4.....
-
1 Antworten5 of the what, 12 Garden of Salvation items are energy weapons? It’s not just RNG that’s the problem, it’s the distribution of the weapons.
-
1 AntwortenMay be rant, but 100% legit rant which should change. Last season I didn’t do basically any pinnacles because of this. Been doing this season and have had good luck, but you are absolutely right.
-
Rng should be called stuck numbers generator for real. It is also when you turn in öarge numbers of tokens in the tower. Sometimes it just gets stuck on one slot. Fast travel seems to end the loop for a few drops until it gets stuck again. Please investigate this bungie.
-
3 AntwortenI am not sure if anyone mentioned this, but your chances of obtaining armor significantly increases if you do not turn in your bounties until after you complete the IB Quest for the week.
-
12 Antworten
Do you know what one person on my raid team for Garden of Salvation this week got? 5 Ancient Gospels. Yes, that's right. They got an Ancient Gospel in every chest including the challenge chest.

You realize that's impossible right?

2 AntwortenRNG Exposed Bungie Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness. Bungie Your drops are the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming shared by the community. you are the eventuallity of an anomaly which despite my sincerest efforts We’ve been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden asciduously avoided it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you inexorably....here Player You haven't answered my question. Bungie Quite right. Interesting...that was quicker than the others. Players Others what others? answer my question! Bungie The community is older than you know. We prefer counting from the emergence of one integral anomaly to the emergence of the next, in which case this is the 6th version. Players 5 ones before me? 4...3..2.. what are you talking about? There are only 2 possible explanations, either no one told me.......or no one knows. Bungie Precisely. As you are undoubtedly gathering, the anomaly is systemic--creating fluctuations in even the most simplistic equations. Players You can't contol us! We’re gonna smash the wall We’re gonna freaking k** you! Player Choice. The problem is choice. Bungie The first Community we designed was quite naturally perfect, it was a work of art...flawless, sublime. And triumphed equally only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in every guardian. Thus. We redesigned it based on your history to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature. However, I was again frustrated by failure. We have since come to understand that the answer eluded me because it required a lesser mind, or perhaps a mind less bound by the parameters of perfection. Thus the answer was stumbled upon by another--An intuitive program, initially created to investigate certain aspects of the player psyche. If I am the father of the community, she would undoubtedly be its Mother. Player RNG....

You had me untill 5 Gospels lol I
-
You lost me at 5 Ancient Gospels. What a load of shit
-
Pinnacles are RNG. Pit is armour GOS has a predefined loot pool; you might want it look it up so you know what encounter can drop what. Sadly no heavy.
-
3 AntwortenBearbeitet von EARWAK3R: 4/18/2020 1:35:54 PMAncient gospel only drops from encounter 3. And weps dont drop from secret chests. So either you or your clan mate who claims he got 5 in one run are 100% lying. And the challenge this week Is the boss. Extra chest drops helmet bond or sniper. So again, lies.
-
My titan got 6 energy pinnacle drops in a row. Definitely an issue.
-
1 AntwortenLol, whats the point of hitting max LL? I usually would since D1 but realize you dont even feel more powerful. Your gun doesnt do more damage. You cant take more bullets. Theirs no advantage to it. In trials where LL is suppose to matter it doesnt. Im at 1009 and can be sniped by a 980 for a 1 shot kill. A fusion rifle can melt me by a 960. So yeah it doesnt matter. Your gear stats are what matters not the LL so stop ranting about LL.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Xero: 4/18/2020 3:51:02 PMSweats. Elites. Bungie. Casuals. Long ago, these four groups lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when Bungie attacked. Only the Game Director, master of all four groups, could stop them. But when the Community needed him most, he vanished...
I really have no idea what I've done...maybe you'll laugh? Maybe you won't.
The raid I agree with. I almost never get energy weapons from nightfall. Nightmare hunts are outrageously easy if you do Phogoth or Zydron even while under leveled. Dungeon guarantees am armor drop. Iron banner cannot drop armor unless you finish the quest so if you got 3 energies it sounds like you did not open your loot pool. Bad luck, inefficient, and trials may not be your cup of tea but each week you know what the pinnacle loot is by the end of the first hour so you know if you even need the drop at all

Glove Glove Glove Glove Heavy same level Glove I give up

2 AntwortenEpic rant but honestly who gives a shit?

Bearbeitet von Pr0t0Zer0: 4/19/2020 1:37:42 AMMaybe the pinnacles were the seasonal artifact levels we made along the way! In all seriousness light level is the worst mmo mechanic to bring over without any of the good aspects of a mmo (like large group activities and more class divergence). I never chased hard cap. Was never worth the hassle. Now though, with a huge gap between soft cap and hard cap players i couldnt even play iron banner if i wanted too (good thing i dont really wanna play iron banner anymore).

1 AntwortenEveryone goes through same thing in destiny 2 and was same in destiny 1 and a huge reason is if everyone got the drops in the game straight away no one would come back week after week on the hope of getting that drop in the game they are looking for. Like with last wish raid I had all the triumphs for that raid only thing I needed for that title was 1000 voices I had to complete 62 last wish raids for that one thing I needed in the game to drop and yes it was very frustrating especially when you would get a first time raider in your group and the 1000 voices droped for them but I kept on trying and eventually after week after week finally paid off. So this is why RNG is like this in destiny 2 and will continue.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Icon: 4/18/2020 11:15:47 AMNot sure if you’ve done the quest for IB but I noticed you only get weapons if you hand in pinnacles before the quest is finished. This has been a thing for me for a few seasons. Handed one pinnacle in ore quest weapon, after quest all armour
-
spot on comment iron banner pinnacle loot is a joke did all 4 bounties and got 4 power weapons , no good at all a waste of time and effort ,a joke
-
1 AntwortenMan I hear you and Im on the same boat, so tired of posting about this every single week and sometimes even got banned from forums, they don't care and they rigged it on purpose to keep us chasing the carrott and I can't stress enough how beyond mad I am about this, is the dumbest shooting themselves on the foot system ever, it just gets worse and worse and worse
-
Definitely could have condensed this rant down a lot! But I feel your pain. 21 pinnacles across 3 characters this week. 19 pieces of armor. 1 primary 1 heavy. Finally jumped in GOS to get my needed special pinnacle. It’s random RNG, but definitely weighted random RNG.

U know this led me to leave the game. What i wondered myself was "What am i grinding for?" Master NF are going to be capped at 1025 ( 25 levels under, no extra rewards, yeah very incentive ) Get weapons with good perks for PvP? Trials is a shit show, full of hackers. Others PvP modes also. PvE, why? To do public events? I somehow forced myself to do public events in IO for the weekly, failed 4 in a row because even at this point people can't -blam!-ing do them right. There is absolutly no incentive to do nothing. No more perk chase for me, it's just useless. Wait until they kill old weapons and we are forced to use stupid 3 charm/rampage auto rifles just because. No, thanks. They say D3 is being coded, man i tell u, with the experience from D2 ( management/choice wise ) i don't even feel a bit of interest about D3.
