Personally, I think Gambit suffers from the same problems as PvP in general: you are restricted by the latest meta, people will use the corniest garbage to get the win, matchmaking is garbage, the loot drops too infrequently and has mostly been nerfed into irrelevance.

Gambit is a good gamemode overall. It's just the fact that people spam the meta (looking at you Truth mains) and that Bungie tried to mix PvE and PvP in a way that is pretty complex (yet still fun).
