With out the majority of players participating, the mode will wither and die.
Forbes even wrote about it and articulates the situation very well.

I welcome discussion, but will ignore the knuckle dragging “get good” response.
Thanks devs for your hard work!

Trials philosophy at heart was to have a sweaty pinnacle activity to appeal to the top 10% of the pvp. So an activity designed for 10% of the population will eventually be played only by 10% of the population. The obvious answer if you want to make it more accessible is a form of SBMM, but then you're going against the initial philosophy becoz the top 10% hate SBMM. So it was destined to fail sooner or later. But is it really a failure or are we just misunderstanding the objective of the playlist ? Grandmaster ordeal is in the same category, a sweaty pinnacle activity for the top 10% of the pve. So you can't put a "reasonnable" light level coz it will piss them off if too many finish it without needing crazy skills. People always assume that every activity are for everyone or almost. But maybe they're not. At least it makes way more sense if it was Bungie original idea to have the extreme parts of their population in their own things even if the 80% in the middle stay away from those. I'm actually surprise that the trials weapons are not in grandmaster ordeal, with different skins. That would wrap up the whole thing. Obviously the big issue is that the top 10% PVE can have fun by themselves in grandmaster. But the top 10% PVP can't do the same in trials, they need some of the 90% in it too to have fun.

Paul Tassi couldn't win 3 games on the same ticket. I'm going to go ahead and say he should just give up on Trials and hope a streamer carrys him. That's embarrassing.
-
1 AntwortenI duuno, Season of Boredom is letting me get a lot more sleep since there’s nothing remotely interesting to do in Destiny right now.
-
Hey look, Paul Tassi is back, to complain about yet another thing in D2. Who's surprised? Not that I don't agree with you in principal, but can we stop listening to Paul, or caring because it's in Forbes already?

Trials is super reliant on your enjoyment of Crucible. I played around 3 hours of trials yesterday and had a blast, even when we were losing. If you don't enjoy the sandbox or crucible in general, then you are going to hate trials.

29 AntwortenBearbeitet von EARWAK3R: 3/30/2020 3:04:17 PMThats because its not designed for the majority. Its for top tier pvp players. Its endgame. Its supposed to be super hard by design. Pve guys get raids Pvp guys get trials Both are somewhat exclusive unless youre naturally good, or have great friends. Its not hard to understand. I cant play trials, im trash at pvp. But whatever. Let the pvp guys have fun. We're not all good enough to have everything (me included) and thats ok.

Bearbeitet von FataLVisioN_Oo: 3/30/2020 6:03:48 PMMy buddy who is a 1.1kd and his two buddies who are .9kd and 1.0 kd went flawless 9x this weekend. If they can do it anyone can. They literally just grind trials all weekend playing card after card persevering through the arse kickings while learning/adapting/ improving their craft. Instead of getting beat then quitting and coming here to complain like what I see most people doing on these forums. I do see a major flaw in the loot system though and from a frustrated players point of view. I have a buddy who typically cannot get 3 wins but he plays quite a but. He'll end up with 300 tokens and no way to use them. Which that would irritate the life out of me lol. There should be daily repeatable bounties that are kinda grindy that award weapons tbh instead of tokens.. and just use the tokens to buy a card every weekend... or just remove the tokens and purchasing a card all together and leave the card in your inventory... don't really see the point in buying a new one every week. You should be able to preview your card in your inventory and switch from there what type of card you are going to run.

I feel a major problem is the token system If your a person who finds people off of lfg your not gonna have a good team sync or anything you’ve never played with these people Then because all the good teams are gonna be farming tokens your first game will be with a team that should be 7-0
-
I have no idea why this is so surprising to everyone. Trials was like this back in D1, Bungie brought it back exactly the same way it was. Why did you not think it would end up the exact same way?

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von FdYAcsoyPKN83gLE: 3/30/2020 2:45:46 PMA guy spammed me messages (while playing the match) on PSN because I was good at killing him with a mountaintop, and he said I had no skill. :/ The guy wasn't even discreet, and he called me "lame" like he destroyed all the mirrors in his house. lol

7 AntwortenIt's an endgame activity for PvP. It's not meant for everybody (myself included) and Bungie has never promoted it as being for everybody.
-
1 AntwortenWhy are player who have reached their 7 wins allowed to reset their card to begin with. Just keep them in that top bracket and have additional rewards for them for further wins at the high end. Keep them out of the lower win bracket for the rest of the week. Personally I couldn’t care less, it’s not for me. Anyone who willingly puts themselves up to face the sweat lords of destiny PvP is crazy lol. Let those guys stew in trials on their own. A little slice of hell of their own making.
-
4 AntwortenTrials should be for the majority of the players. Going flawless shouldn’t. I agree with the article.
-
Here's my take on the problem with trials as it is now: 1. There's no adept weapons/armor to incentivise going for a flawless run. 2. Because of reason 1 as well as the reward intervals, you actually have more incentive to just farm 3 or 5 wins to farm tokens to get a god roll from a smaller loot pool. 3. The tokens resetting every weekend is just another way to get more blueberries into the game mode using FOMO so that the streamers and higher skilled players have scrubs to farm. 4. Cheaters, no explanation needed here. I'm by no means a great or highly skilled player, but I had no trouble going flawless multiple times in D1. I agree it's a tournament for the skilled and they should be rewarded, not asking for a handout or a carry. However, with the current way the mode is setup, why would anyone bother to try for flawless? The casuals will get tired of getting farmed and wasting their time, and soon enough the higher skilled players will get tired of non-stop sweats (and cheaters) and the game mode will be a ghost town.

Change the word trials for "Destiny 2"

Aztecross also summed up the situation very well. https://youtu.be/HcA9qtdDohQ

It's the state of the pvp game. The push to a AR meta especially with hardlights no aim spam lethality it's made pvp well....meh. not that skilled play isnt there...its just in a place where you are highly incentivized to creep around on your knees and endlessly spam HL. And I dont recommend any nerfs. And I know Sidearms are in a good place. But HCs need some love as do various other weapons and archetypes. We need a quick sandbox update here. Especially in light of all the nerfs that went down with the current season of terrible content. Also to guardians: please stop creep walking on your knees in crucible. You are immortal paracausual space magic wielding warriors. Its effing embarrasing.
-
5 AntwortenI just watched Aztecross' YouTube vid about the state of Trials and Mtashed's vid where he had two games with hackers and all I can think about is when that one guy from Bungie said in the developer insight vid that they didn't wanna bring Trials back half-baked

3 Antwortenlots of destiny isn't fun. but when you say it the hardcore freak out and are like "don't make it casual."
-
3 AntwortenI said this numerous times before it launched and was laughed at. People will come back and try it for nostalgia, but it mostly benefits hardcore players, streamers and account recoveries. Once people realize it's nearly an impossible task they will fade away, leaving a very small percentage of regulars who will then talk about it being a boring sweat fest. And here we are. Bungie needed to adopt tiers to flawless. If you've gone flawless with a specific character for the week, you should only be able to pick up a new card that will put you in a pool with other flawless players. Doing so will move the god tier teams/players away and allow the rest of the player base to feel like they have a fighting chance. It will also significantly reduce account recoveries, so it gives people a fighting chance. It allows people to still earn flawless (which 7 wins for the majority of the player base is still a big accomplishment) to visit the lighthouse, but also gives the sweaty players a place to continue competing. Add more rewards for going flawless on a flawless only card. Best of both worlds and nobody feels alienated or hopeless.
-
1 AntwortenIs Trials even meant for the majority? Isn’t it PvP endgame for the best competitive players? I tried it once and never went back. I know when I don’t belong.
-
Once the cannon fodder is gone THEN the pvp sweaties will start complaining.
-
10 AntwortenTrials should be 100% sbmm. Otherwise it will always be unfair and frustrating.
-
4 AntwortenLook, Forbes is a great magazine but when it comes to video games? I would not use it as a source for anything video game related. Please just speak for yourself when it comes to what you would prefer. You don't play with the majority of the player base. You aren't the majority of the player base. You are part of the player base. You don't need to include many people behind you to try to make a point. If you observe something that is clearly wrong, fine bring up constructive criticism about it. we don't need 30 people saying what the lionshare of the player base is doing. you don't have a GPS tracker on anybody, you don't know what everyone else is doing and why.

https://www.polygon.com/2016/10/26/13394068/destiny-trials-of-osiris-ruined-cheaters-ddos-spam These articles existed back in the days too so? People were never happy since D1, things didn't change.
