I don't know when you added the seasonal mod system to the game as I took a really long break in playing, so my experience is with Season 9 and 10. Overload and Barrier enemies grind the fun to a halt. It goes from doing a challenging thing that you may be underpowered for that you were still accomplishing to a thing of tedium. The super duper hard nightfalls aren't even out and I don't even feel like doing thing. If they were in the game, if I was at the very tippy top of possible power with everything perfect for them, I wouldn't feel like doing them. It isn't a fun challenge. It isn't just a fun thing to do. The legendary lost sectors aren't fun. Throw in that you can essentially just wipe them clean with a frame and all you are doing is setting it off and staying out of the way. Clearing the bunker isn't fun. It's a chore you have to do to do something else. And that makes me look at reasons to play. To what, get max power? Why do I need to? You are just going to bump up the number again next season. My gear will be useless because you will optimize the system in a different direction to make me use weapons I really don't like using.
Let me put this a different way. I want to feel powerful in this game. Not invincible, but powerful. I want to be dangerous to the enemy. If I am not careful, even on patrol, I can get smooshed. It doesn't happen often, but the feeling that I am essentially just as vulnerable as a dreg is stupid. Go into things 200+ below my current power level and I can get wrecked if I am not careful. Why should I need to be careful when going up against pawns? Going up against a barrier dude in a 1000 nightfall ordeal should not be me instantly wrecked. You say it's the burn, ok ok. Why do my guns not produce the same levels of destruction? Why does an anti-barrier SMG or sidearm not maul that barrier? Why do I have to pour magazines into someone far too often to trigger the perk?
Look, I get it, you want to challenge players, which is great. I like being challenged, I like having to be conscious of whats happening and plan and know the strategies, but this is all just so tedious at this point.
I've got a friend that is at the point where all he wants/needs is pinnacle gear and what that means is all he wants to do is the activities that reward that stuff and it's all just stuff that is artificially inflated challenge by requiring players to hamstring themselves with ineffective weapons for everything out of a special circumstance.
Want an option idea?
Don't make the mods required. Don't make me carry hard light solely because of match game. I don't NEED to carry it, but I do because it's better than everyone coordinating guns because you decided we needed one of each. These things should be beneficial to us playing. Something that makes the situation less tedious. Make these things perks, boons to the fight, not requirements. Maybe anti-barrier instantly rips the shields from an enemy. Maybe overload rounds short circuit the crap out of any kind of electrical enemies. Maybe unstoppable rounds stun all yellow bar enemies. The point is to make having these things advantageous to the journey. Otherwise I am going to end up doing what I did with the super duper version of the sundial. Ignore it completely. The second I looked at the modifiers and then the LFG where people wanted only specific subclasses and I noped out. It's not that I'm not a team player, but I didn't put up with that in D1 and I'm not going to bother in D2.
You can do better Bungie.

Seasonal mods technically have always been a thing if u count the fact that once Levi and its Lairs became obsolete those mods(that could only be used in those places) became pointless but they really became the thing we know today in foresaken

1 AntwortenBungie definitely favors challenge over fun. So much so that the game often feels like work/chores. I think they don’t really have a good understanding of how and why many people play video games in the first place. If not that, I can only assume they are doing everything they can to prolong any pursuit because if they didn’t people would be done with things very quickly. The answer to that isn’t to prolong things with uninspired, repeated grinds. It’s to open the game up, give players more options, and infuse the open world with variance.

7 AntwortenI agree the challenges are not FUN. I have a quest from Rasputin for legendary lost sectors. gather a fire team go in, can't get it done. wait a bit 2 weeks get some light levels try again still can't get it done, but we get farther. The main problem is that the barrier guys are virtually unstoppable. In the quarry there are 2 of these guys at the end. they both have machine guns that never run out of ammo, never need to be reloaded and by the time you get the shield down, they have healed all or most of the previous damage, anti shield weapons should be ripping the shield apart in short order. Not to mention if you work on one the other is shooting and will kill you with just a few bullets. Tried different weapons, swords are useless, as soon as you get one swing in they stomp and kill you. Nothing takes the shield down fast enough. Even if you get the shield down, while you are trying to kill one, the other is killing you. It is a lose, lose situation. certainly not fun! Went on line read how to do these things, and everyone is recommending weapons I do not have and cannot get. They all say get more light levels. Why make quests that you get at week one when you know players will not be able to do them until they get to max light level and have certain weapons? It is ignorant of the dev team to assume every player is rushing through content in one week and has all the best weapons in the game at their immediate disposal. Not every player has been playing D2 since day 1.

7 Antwortenadding fortnite systems into the game ruined it

Hope they don't have one of those streamer events again, you know the ones that take days to complete and spreadsheets to fill in. I'd like a dungeon to run, not watch a like and subscribe, donate here event.

Game feels like work.

Destiny 2's "Challenges" have never been fun.
-
3 AntwortenVery well written. Thank you! You’re getting where about 95% of the playerbase who played D1 was 2/3 months into D2.

5 AntwortenTried a legendary lost section today. 😳 Got instantly pummeled by a collapsing brick building. So I take it, those things are for a team of 3? 6? 12?

Moved on to COD Warzone, PvP player, just can't deal with Bungie's BS anymore. They have no idea what the -blam!- game they even want to make. It's just random thrown together, meaningless, bounty grinding, unbalanced non sense. It's a lost vision riding the coat tails of the original story writers.
-
Exactly why I am now playing another game.

5 AntwortenI never understood why people (seem to) care about max light and I don't know why Bungie keeps relocking old content behind higher light levels. Nightfall, sure I can get that. Nightmare hunts, really? But you keep the RAID and Dungeon at 940?? Not to mention the same people who say the light level is prestigious and makes content more challenging hit max light week friggin 1 of a new season therefore making the "challenging content" trivial by default. I also think Bungie's "challenging content" modifiers are stupid. Like alright how do we make hard content, put like 15 negative modifiers and make the light stupidly high cause why not. So dumb.
-
But they never wanted to challenge you, they made tiny little maps with tough or rather badly designed enemies so it takes more time to finish the event, it's a cover for the fact that they've done nothing new at all
-
The new champions are fun.. With that being said.. It would be nice if they added all the previous weapon types into the artifact so that we had more options when engaging these enemies.. As well as adding them to exotics too because outside of only a few of them they have no place in end game content Exotic smgs ars and sidearms should have overload and antibarrier mods Scouts handcannons and bows should have unstoppable and overload They could also tweek overload a little bit in my opinion by making it a charged shot like it is for an unstoppable round because sometimes even after landing all my shots it doesn't overload champion
-
3 AntwortenThe seasonal mods started when Shadowkeep launched. I agree that the champion system was a huge mistake and should never have been implemented. They kill the fun.
-
I don't mind things being challenging like legendary lost sectors(where enemies are tougher by the activity being a higher lvl) but so sick of the champion enemies,Got sick of them early last season and really stupid that the mods are only for specific weapons or different sub classes(arc grenade for overload champions but melee for unstoppable champions is solar.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von GrayWolf: 3/23/2020 11:00:33 AMAgreed. There is challenging and there is painful and that is the side these mechanics fall on A Seraph SMG with Anti-barrier Mod that does not destroy the Barrier unless you try unloading 4 clips by which time you are dead
-
4 AntwortenI’d rather play Space Engineers.

There challenges have never been fun. Every challenge I have done and all the people I have done them with over the last 3 years have all come to the same conclusion every time –– "Thank God I never have to do that again". That pretty much sums up most of Destiny to be honest.
-
This season artifact with mods on these weapons is the worst ever so far. Who gets up close for dps unless it’s one to punch shot gun . It’s about time we get to choose not you. It’s for us to play not be guided by rubbish mods on weapons a lot of us never like to use . Making us use weapons we don’t want isn’t fun. Make them stronger so we want to use them. Not barrier or overload mods . So not enjoying this season

Super duper hard nightfalls? Doing the same strikes yet again? No thanks...
-
u never really get any stronger it just feels like “ ok u won’t die from 1 shot now cos ur this certain power level ” its a bit of a let down and kinda ruins that moment when u see a guardian at a super high level whose worked hard on gaining XP u should think “hell Yh this guy is gonna kick ass here comes the Calvary” then he gets one hit killed by boss stomp 😑
-
Back in the days when it was hard because of mechanics and sheer creativity and ingenuity (looking raids)... rather than modifiers and tedious detail. Those were the days.
-
Challenge for challenge sake is unappealing. I liked being bloated with power.

Your wall of text hurt my eyes !!!!
