Why are we just waiting? Break the loop!
So I've never really understood the story of Destiny. It hasth always been a mess of cryptic and random things happening. We are fighting the philosophical "darkness" with powers from "the traveler".
From wherever there are 3 different races of aliens that seem to never die and just multiply faster than rabbits. I'm guessing the are all can self reproduce..
We always get references to the "golden age" whatever that is. Seemed like a awesome time.
Anyway my question and thoughts has always been. Where do these aliens come from and why the hell dont we go to their planets and exterminate them instead of just waiting for the endless attacks and invasions? Clearly we can't seem to win in our own solar system.
The story in destiny is so hazy and I wonder if they just make shit up as they move along? There are like a 1000 lose ends in the Destiny story. Going back and forth, right to left...
TBH I dont care to much of the story BUT to be this game Is just running around in circles and it's getting a bit boring to say the least.
Let us go to like the cabal / hive / fallen world / planet or whatever and put an end to them. Spice things up and stir things around to break this endless loop.
Somewhere on the road this game just turned right towards a cliff. The little core and soul it had is gone I feel atm. Instead of finishing the first story they added 999 more.

1 AntwortenI understand your frustration and gut feeling that possibly we missed something in d1 to tie up those loose ends and the answer is WE NEVER FREED PRAEDYTH FROM A VEX TIMELINE IN THE VOG!!! But in D2 you free CAYDE 6 from a vex time line. Don't ya think d2 over lap with d1 same game? But because we never freed praedyth we can't go to Mercury like we did after we freed CAYDE 6 in d2!

It’s not that simple true we need something different to happen to break the cycle but finding that is hard plus there’s a chance we could lose the dreaming city by breaking the loop

1 AntwortenLet's be honest, the cabal empire are going to home here. Because they are stupid. We will kill all their command in this system. We are not going to leave sol period, we can't. We don't have a fleet. Etc. Unless the awoken from the pocket dimension come with a super army but that will never happen. Not everything has to go out of the system. The only way we are seeing anything different is in throne worlds. Which are different universes.

1 AntwortenLooky here, it's someone who knows nothing about the lore! Every race has it's origins explained already. We can't leave the solar system, the fallen's homeworld got destroyed in their collapse, the hive are interstellar and occupy entire star systems, the taken are just a hive subspecies under the control of savathûn, the vex is too much for me to condense but they're basically as old as time itself and originated from the garden before time(possibly the black garden?) Back when the gardener(the light, but NOT the traveler) and the winnower(darkness) were buddies and coexisted, doing their own thing. Then the gardener wanted complexity in everything that exists and became the enemy of the winnower.(fellow lore nerds, I simply oversimplify for the uneducated) just read the unveiling lore book and the books of sorrow for the vex origin. After the universe was born, the microscopic species known as the vex was peaceful, and the radiolaria(vex milk) that multiple vex can combine into found a way to create shells for them to control and move around in(the vex we know today). Details are hazy from there, but oryx during his conquests, gained taken powers and wiped a people called the ecumene from existence. The vex saw this and created a mind to understand what's happening. That mind learned the sword logic and now all the vex follow the sword logic, but the mind got taken by oryx. The cabal are a vast empire, and calus' daughter is implied to be in control now. Aside from the red legion, all the cabal are friendly with us, because of calus. Calus basically is obsessed with us, and doesn't want to be our enemy, but wants us to join him as part of his plan to be the last living thing. Actually learn before you start going on about not knowing stuff you're too lazy to research.

Care about the story or don’t care about the story. Pick one. We don’t have many ships capable of leaving the solar system, especially in any sort of efficient manner. The colony ships of the Exodus program had their passengers in cryostasis. The Fallen’s homeworld was destroyed by the Hive in their own version of the Collapse. They came to our Solar System chasing the Traveler that had abandoned them, now they’re simply stuck here as they’ve lost their way. They don’t seem to have any centralised base of operations to our knowledge and are scattered amongst several factions, so good luck there. The House of Kings remained hidden in Old Russia for the entirety of their existence on Earth. The Hive are vast. Oryx’s brood has seemingly been rendered extinct or close to it with the defeat of the Hidden Swarm. However, two equally vast broods still remain in the form of Oryx’s two sisters, Savathûn and Xivu Arath. The former has a keen interest in our Solar System and has been worming her way into every single nook and cranny she can in order to gather as much intelligence and plant as many misdirections as she can. The Vex are unknowable in number with their Network. The only surefire way we have of destroying them would be to allow the Taken to do it for us, but that would be handing an advantage too large for us to combat straight to the Witch-Queen herself. The Vex aren’t even properly combatting us. The only Vex to take the offensive were the outcast Darkness worshipping cult. We haven’t even see Vex designed for combat yet or “Warrior Vex” as they’re described. The Cabal empire is vast. We’ve fought various Legions over the years, but the empire survives. Ghaul is dead and the Red Legion have been obliterated but now Calus’s daughter has supposedly taken the reigns if the leaked machine gun lore tab is to be trusted. Calus himself is a non-hostile entity who wishes for us to join him so that we can share in the honour of being amongst the last living creatures alive as the universe ends. I know you want variety and I know you said you don’t care, but what you propose makes no logical sense in the slightest, particularly when all of our enemies outside of our Solar System outnumber us and we would leave the City vulnerable to attack from the other three.

The thing i always think is weird, is that the current technology seems to be more advanced than the "Golden Age" tech we are constantly working with or finding. Most of the "golden age" computers look like they run on windows 98 and most of the cars we see look like they are from the 90s. The golden age space ships only look slightly more advanced than what we currently have.

3 AntwortenAll races are extra-solar and we have no interstellar capabilities. Also reinforcements aren't being sent in from elsewhere. All the enemies we fight just live here now.

36 AntwortenSo. Cabal home world is guarded by probably 97% or the Cabal empire. Going there would be a great disaster 2.0. Hive operate out of Throne Worlds in the Ascendent realm. Their Hive gods, known as the Osmium heirs, cannot be killed truly until they’re killed in their throne. And even then they can live on like Oryx and Xol by use of weapons and using the Sword Logic. Anyways. They are again heavily guarded and given the asexual reproductive methods used to make hive armies, they’d have endless armies given measures and reason; they also have the take, which are tougher versions of races enslaved to one cause. The Hive also don’t use their home world because of the syzygy. The fallen have no home world. It was destroyed by Oryx and the hive. This was where the Traveler was before Sol. Fallen would be the most likely race we could destroy but honestly; doing so would be pointless. They serve the least ultimate threat and share common enemies with us. We’re better off joining forces with them. In a way same applies to the Cabal. We can’t just go off on true offensive battle tactics because it wouldn’t serve us any good. Our enemy’s base structures are some of the most heavily guarded. We’d be wiped out. You saw what the Cabal did to the city. Imagine the defences set up for somewhere they already held ground in. It would be a slaughterhouse. And we’d be the cattle.

2 AntwortenI noticed in one of the comments you said you weren’t interested in reading the lore, but since you’ve acknowledged that you don’t read lore you should accept that that’s why you feel like there’s a lack of information, because all these holes and loose ends are addressed in the lore. The Hive actually do reproduce faster than rabbits. The Fallen had a higher population than humans for centuries, and the Cabal Legions are very large, and naturally it would take a very long time to reduce their numbers so much because Guardian combat is small-scale and not full out war where thousands die at a time. The Golden Age has been explained since Vanilla D1, no mystery there. 2 centuries of scientific and technological advancement after the arrival of the Traveler. Chubby already told you about the alien homeworlds, but there’s even more reason why we haven’t gone there. We don’t have interstellar ships. A handful were made during the very end of the Golden Age but they all failed. And if we can’t win in our own solar system there’s no way we can win invading another species’ territory. Destiny has several storylines/arcs going on throughout the world of Destiny -because that’s how life works- that are given continuity, beginnings, endings, depth, etc. through gameplay and lore.

It would be nice to do the impossible...but you're relying on bungie writers, don't expect any omfg moments unless it is in the lore, which of course everyone reads... /S as a MF.

And most races also pull their troops from other systems too. We also don’t even have the technology to go to other systems.
