(disclaimer: total rant)
Am I the only one who really dislikes snipers becoming more and more prevalent, especially towards the higher skill-brackets? Mind you this is PC / MnKB.
Might be anecdotal but feels like past few weeks/months there's been an increasing trend where more and more folks have adapted the (very effective mind you) style of sitting in a select spot with a snipe holding the tightest angle possible and waiting for someone to walk into your crosshair -sorta playstyle.
The relatively low-flinch coupled with the rather enormous head hitboxes doesn't help in providing sensible counterplay. I would know, since I'm an average sniper at best and it's still easy enough in this game that I've gotten upwards over 4k crucible sniper kills in total (there's better folks with a lot more, just giving the number to make a point). You can hose a sniper at 30-40 meters with that range's primary and they'll still get the headshot on you as often as not. If nothing else the p2p latency will give it to them, since in their screen they shot before the flinch ever happened properly.
Sniping in this game is not hard when you compare it to other FPSs.
Note that I don't blame folks for doing it. I can grab a sniper and counterplay playing corners like it's CSGO.
But honestly when this becomes the QP experience with +3-4 snipers stuffed into the opposing team in the already too small maps we got, it becomes something I genuinely don't enjoy. Other games do that sorta stuff better.
Least with shorter range engagements I get to utilize the great movement mechanics coupled with the gunplay, which I do enjoy quite a lot in this game specifically.
Not calling for nerfs or the like. Just getting that out of the system. Now I'll get back to getting good as someone will probably advise me to.

2 AntwortenI just avoid the snipe lanes and do the 3rd person peek with my sword or an emote so I don't get picked off like that. There's always a sniper in every long lane, it seems

5 AntwortenDestiny PvP on PC is an absolute joke. I know all of the PC mains are going to hate me for saying it but the game very clearly plays like it was designed with controller limitations in mind... and then ported to PC with MnK support. The insane bullet magnetism of destiny combined with the precision of a mouse makes the game a twitch shooter of OHKs and it’s terrible. Tell me I’m wrong but 9/10 “good” PC players have exactly two skill sets. Skill 1: smashing A, D and their crouch bind while furiously clicking with spam rations/thorn at head level Skill 2: QuickDraw glitching/swap cancelling to and from their sniper/shotty The game is a literal shit show because anybody half decent with MnK is basically guaranteed to atleast land a body shot, even while flying around the map, and being flinched, at which point they insta swap to their 95 aim assist spare and clean up while smashing A D and crouch.... Or they are shotty apes, who do effectively the same thing in reverse, They slide strafe at you with spam rations until they can QuickDraw glitch 15m you with mindbenders..... And luckily having any sort of game sense on PC doesn’t really matter because 105 fov combined with Instant directional changes from a mouse flick makes fixing mistakes easy.... making 90% of the outplay potential come from who reacts fastest. D2 PC is basically CoD on crack. It’s garbage in its most putrid form.

You're absolutely not the only one!

3 AntwortenIt's not that way on the console. They can be hard to use, especially if any lag is present. If you don't have flinch reducing perks, you are in a world of hurt.
-
1 AntwortenIts not just snipers all weapons need a 50% reduction in aim assist.
-
As a console player, i even feel it. Mostly because those using them have an MnK input which kinda ruins the fun in general but it is what it is...
-
4 AntwortenAlso on pc controller players with their legal sniper aim bots ..... horrible to play against
-
2 AntwortenIt’s very tedious and annoying, but, you need to grind for a fastish shooting scout rifle with explosive payload. Before you enter any lanes emote and get some 3rd person hacks.
-
2 Antwortenrelatively low flinch Yeah don't make me laugh. Wait. Too late.

Yeah I agree and I think anyone familiar with high level pc pvp will too. Going against a good sniper is incredibly frustrating and sometimes feels like theres simply nothing you can do. The worst thing is its not like you can say “wow they are so good and it is impressive that they are able to hit that shot” because the hitboxes are so big and the bullet magnetism is so strong that sniping isn’t too difficult. You can play kovaaks for a couple hours a day for a couple weeks and be as good as literally anyone.

I used to enjoy crucible before snipers became so dominant (and other OHK guns / abilities). Give me a gun fight any day over the crappy one hit kill stuff.
-
I dislike the special weapon spam the most. Nobody wants to fight with their primary anymore.
-
Snipers are horrifically broken..... yet forum dads been crying about erentils lol
-
Scout Rifles could really use some extra flinch vs. snipers. As it stands, snipers can actually use flinch AGAINST you, letting their reticle bounce up towards your face and getting a headshot that way.
-
1 AntwortenSnipers need a nerf to aim assist in my opinion. I admire snipers and do it myself a lot but I hate a sniper meta, makes the game too passive.
-
Use jotunn against snipers and jump around corners.
-
You’re not alone man, if I see one more a Beloved or Revoker in game I’m gonna lose it. I look forward to trials but I am not at all looking forward to the Revoker spam.

1 AntwortenSnipers definitely need a change. Primaries are too weak to compete. I could try to counter a sniper with a pulse. A smart sniper would hug the wall and just peek shot me with one click, while i have to land 3 shots with my pulse. Even if i flinch them enough to miss, theyll just go back behind the wall. Only snipers counter snipers. Trials will be all snipers. You could use a sniper 85% of a game and 15% primary.

3 AntwortenIf you know there's a sniper down a lane, your job is to NOT challange that; unless you have a sniper yourself, and even then it's still a dobious choice of action. If you don't have a sniper to challange with, the enemy sniper OWNS that lane. Your job is to flank that sniper. Anything else is feeding the enemy. Most maps have 3 alternate routes to get to a position, use that to your advantage. Push when your team is pushing, not 1 at a time. If you, yourself, are sniping and you notice that you are loosing more of the snipe-on-snipe battles than you are winning; best tip I can give is to recognize that and just stop challenging those sniper-lanes. Try out new angles on high trafic areas, and try to flank the enemy snipers. You beat them by not playing their game. I snipe a lot, and that's how I get downed: 1) People stop pushing MY lane. 2) People flank me. 3) People push me from two angles, boxing me in. P.S. Once you get good at flanking and engaging at opportune moments there are A LOT of fun moments to be had ;)
