Post your reasons below, keep it civil.

If so, see below
there have been many great viewpoints on both sides of the aisle.
Overwhelming majority still oppose the change, as it is.
I think the biggest concern, is the grind for a good roll can take an entire season as it stands, that would be insulting to lose it immediately after. Another big concern is, the materials we sink into our favorite guns will be wasted, if we decide to masterwork at all.
Finally, many fear that the weapon rotation from Bungies creative team will not, in fact, be fresh weapon ideas, but simply reskins of old tired weapons, in order to create an artificial gear chase, which would act more like a revolving door, than an evolving world.
If bungie can address these top 3 concerns, that would go a long way to showing some good faith.
I didn’t like it in D1 Year 2, so I’m assuming I won’t like it now.
-
Weapon retirement is literally the worst possible thing that could happen...and it’s going to happen.
-
14 AntwortenI get it, but just like when the vog weapons got retired before the dark below, the crotas end weapons were really good replacements so you didn't feel the pinch a lot. However, that was all curated loot. You knew what were jumping in the vault and hole for. With today's random rolls...on raid gear...I won't be entering anything. The majority of the time I play quick play so you can always flex any weapon muscle in there.

Bearbeitet von Lull9: 3/4/2020 10:04:24 AMIf YOU don't want to use old weapons, don't. Stop and delete them. YOUR problem is solved. EZ. Leave the rest of us out of your pathological need for a moldy carrot+stick to get beaten with.

2 AntwortenI personally disagree with this change. This won't encourage better weapons, this will encourage just making replacements, Spare Rations is no longer usable now some other 150 with rapid hit and/or killclip/mkc will takes it's place, I also see a lot of reskins. This also discourages doing older content. Why do a raid when all it's stuff is worthless. When people complain about how others use a pve "meta" what does it matter? If they wanna play the game with that loadout all the time let them, it's how they want to play, and trying to make them "change their way" goes against the "play the way you want" that Bungie has been telling us we can do which with this weapon retirement will not be the case. I still use some Year 1 weapons from time to time because I enjoy it, if they retire stuff I won't be able to because it simple is too much of a disadvantage to me. As far as the size of the game which people claim this will help with, firstly the guns aren't being removed they still will take space, secondly why not take out stuff people don't use, like different language audio, just download the language they need not all of them. And I'd be fine if they made something (Disc, USB drive, HDD/SSD) that has the game on it and room for expansion. Overall I don't think this will be a worthwhile change. If retirement is made a thing metas will only be replaced with other metas and options will be limited. This doesn't fix anything.

2 AntwortenThe minute I heard about this any and all motivation to grind for pinical weapons just left my body. Why even bother when they'll be totally worthless.

1000+ hate its damn

Bearbeitet von Sonnabirk: 3/4/2020 1:07:02 PMI voted "Hate it" Why not retire armor too then? Imo its not good to go into this direction with the game, Bungie should focus on other things. I rather they focus perhaps on armor as a stat, if lets say for example I wanted to build more tanky I should be able to do so like you can in Mobas. But if you build a hero tanky your dps should be a little bit lower and such. Full resilience just feels like a cosmetic lol, I have 95 resilience on my Titan and that is perhaps 25 more health lol. :D

I don't play PvP but if fellow PvE players eant to use Yr1 weapon load outs, in fact, any weapons they want to, then that's fine by me. I choose to change my load outs and experinent with new guns and I vault the older stuff I used to use all the time (namless, better devils, etc.). Those weapons are still viable but I got bored with them. PvE encounter design needs to improve to encourage weapon experimentation. I'm late to the party, but just played the Corridors of Time Part 1 mission (where you first find Saint 14 in the bubble). This was a lazy bullet sponge servitor and tank mission and was truly terrible game design!
-
this is my retirement plan, delete 75-80 items from vault, so I can move the goodies from my characters into the vault, carry very little. Then it's delete, carry or upgrade as I go with an emphasis on upgrading for like for like. I get a higher Duke, pulling out my Duke and running Duke and so on and so forth. It'd be nice to know what's being retired.

You can have my guns when you pry 'em from my cold dead hands (not a gun guy IRL, just always wanted to say that lol)

Bearbeitet von CHAN9E: 3/4/2020 8:21:33 AMI gotta hand it to them.. In the working world of trade's and journeymen.. This is the equivalent of 'starving ' someone out of work until they quit and go find a new job.. it prevents an unemployment claim and keeps things civil.. Bungie is basically starving us out till we quit.. It's an old game, they lost a large part of their base, they have no profit margin to squeeze blood from any further.. it's free to play base game.. they are bleeding money with staff and devs getting salaries. They want to obviously move on without telling us to pound sand.

As I've said in other posts power creep happens in every game. Theres no point in keeping older weapons collecting dust when new ones can take there place.
-
3 AntwortenPeople like you say its bad because it kills your desire to play. What about MY desire to play? My desire to obtain STRONGER weapons. When I play an endgame challenge, I play it to obtain stronger weapons that those I cultivated from my last endgame challenge. That doesn't happen in this game. And this game is supposedly built on Power Fantasy. I have the best weapons in the game and that kills MY desire to play. I've had them since the middle of last year. The kicker here, is that I have yet to set foot in the true endgame. Why? Because those weapons aren't obtained there. No raiding and less than 24 hours collectively in Comp was spent to obtain them. New weapons are released on a regular basis but they fail to compare in scope to the likes of Mountaintop, Recluse, Loaded Question, and Wendigo. The balance won't allow it simply due to the fact that ALL weapons must remain viable. So I'm forced to pidegon hole myself to those weapons to fulfill my Power Fantasy while over dramatic teenagers and adults pidgeon hole themselves to the same shitty range masterworked outlaw/rampage roll they spent days grinding for when they really didn't need to try that hard. Because if they keep releasing better pinnacle like perks, you same fools get on these forums to complain that your favorite weapons are too weak compared to the best weapons. Retiring weapons allows many different and unique perks to come and go. Its your pessimism that Bungie won't capitalize on the opportunity blinding you to the possibility. Maybe they will, maybe the won't. And that's on them. I'm more than glad to take the chance. Simply because its a god damn video game.

13 AntwortenThis move is phenomenal because... a) change is good b) people hate any change and will stubbornly stick to their old ways when new ones are better so forcing them playerbase into a change is good for everybody. Despite what we think, players don’t actually know what’s good for them. C) this allows Bungie to do exactly what we’ve been asking for forever (putting new fantastic guns with more power into the game) without worrying about power creep d) THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT DEVELOPERS WITH ANY BRAINS HAVE ALWAYS DONE WITH LIVE GAMES WITH ANY LIFESPAN. This is how you do a live game. The fact Bungie has not done this until this point in D2 is an indictment of how little attention they’ve paid to long-term viability of their product. This is the single most responsible sandbox change they’ve made.
-
1 Antworten"We feel weapons that live forever are not ideal and should be restricted to let others shine" Ah so explain to me why the Dtifter still uses weapons froms the dark age? Why Rasputin still uses the sane format for his seraph weapons? Why Lord Shaxx uses his centuries old Raze Lighther (He even gave us a copy)? You even hate your own lore Bungie, what in the actual flockery?

4 AntwortenIt was hard to make content when Bungie: - was supported by the biggest wallet in the industry, - was supported by HM and VV who were creating all the good content, - still had star employees delivering quality, - didn’t have to focus on sales, - wasn’t managed by an ex kotaku journalist with zero credentials instead an epitome of nepotism and lack of qualifications. - had 30mln player base instead of less than 1mln So what did you expect, I mean we’ve been millions warning. You chose to be fool or fooled and to support this Luke Smith’s New Vision of Destiny, which went against everything this company had promised during all these years. Stop taking cow-like actions if you don’t want to be milked. So stop pre ordering stuff you know nothing about when you gain absolutely nothing for pre ordering but some ridiculous shaders or the like BS no one ever cared about but fools who lie to themselves. Stop living on FOMO, no one cares. Bungie will change everything in less than a few weeks if their cash cow doesn’t work anymore, they simply can’t afford it as destiny is their source of funds for everything else they’re deeply invested and for which they must deliver or lose business.

2 Antworten[I personally like it, as will encourage getting more powerful gear to use in pinnacle activities so that you don’t see things like the sparebenders meta in trials or IB, and cheese weapons can’t be exploited for grandmaster nightfalls and whatever other pinnacle pve activities come out. 99% of the game isn’t reliant on power anymore anyways so I personally don’t see an issue with them power capping old weapons like other games like this do in the shadows.]

It's disheartening to know that my bygones will be bye gones.. That the feeding frenzy/killclip blast furnace I haven't aquired (because rng) still today will not be viable in the content that matters to me.. I am an endgame player, I just play the latest content that matters and has the best rewards (pinacle activities). Wish we got an AOT update of some sort where 90% of the game that almost nobody plays anymore is actually rewarding enough to jump back in..

4 AntwortenWhen they took away Bladedancer I was hesitant, but cautiously optimistic. Now that they're putting a timer on my loot I genuinely think Bungie is getting desperate. And for that reason, I'm out until they respond.
-
There is no way to replace the Subtle Calamity on my Warlock. Yes, even I have exact duplicates of it, but that particular bow has been with me for a long time. You don't get that many kills on a single weapon by not using it often. If I'm forced to shelve it, I would probably leave this game behind and find something else to play. Bungie shouldn't be deciding which weapons I can and can't use and infuse. I use newer weapons when I like them, but that one weapon is special to me.
-
I’d be ok with it if RNG were less random and less brutal. It just takes so long to get rolls I like that I feel like those rolls should have longer-lasting value. Like, maybe if you unlock a certain roll in a pulse, you can apply that to future drops of that class of pulse? Make the cost high, that’s cool, just somehow recognize that not everyone can no-life this game...
-
2 AntwortenAt the end of the day games don’t last forever, progression requires change and without change the game is doomed to crash and burn (more). So considering how long you’ve had to use these favourite weapons it’s about time we all just except that it’s a necessary move.
-
2 AntwortenDont mind it, yall already know bungie is just gonna reskin our old weapons for new content. So those weapons technically will never die out.
