Instead of arguing to no end, why not let everyone filter matchmaking to choose the people you fight based on how well they meet your interests?
Why split the player base between 2 main playlists when everyone could be in one that operates to their taste?
No point in arguing if it gets no one anywhere and makes people hate each other. So just compromise, give both what they want, since it's been done already.
Bungie did this before with Halo, this image is from Reach

Bearbeitet von AppleSoda: 1/12/2020 5:54:19 PMWhy they changed whatever they had in the end of D1 is beyond me. Seemingly it was some mix of both. Not every game was perfectly even, but unlike this game, not every other game was a mercy. Mercies felt somewhat rare. It frankly doesn’t matter which extreme you pick; both SBMM and CBMM are absolutely horrendous when that’s the only priority in MM. What matters is how you balance prioritizing both because both of them are integral to a good gaming experience. People love to pick one side and say that they are perfect and flawless, but there’s a reason why every few months a new discussion about this pops up after they change it; neither is satisfactory, and their solution of having separate playlists isn’t satisfactory either.

2 AntwortenDon't worry. SBMM doesn't work. 6 loose in line against people who never missed. Bunguie did smthing wrong

83 AntwortenSo you do realize we already have a choice between SBMM and CBMM right? It is called CLASSIC MIX. Classic mix is a option in the PvP menu that is basically QP before SK but it is CBMM instead of SBMM. I just do not get it Destiny 2 already has a option for CBMM but you lot are not choosing it for reasons. Literally the only difference between classic mix and the rest of the pvp menu is classic mode doesn't have a weekly game mode.
-
6 AntwortenOnly try hards would select CBMM and literally everyone else would still pick SBMM, so nothing changed. Why do you think Classic Mix only has try hards and those unfortunate souls who decided to try it out?
-
13 AntwortenTJM99, we went back and forth on this. I would love to understand how this idea is any different then CBMM playlists, and SBMM playlists. But, I don't. Again, I can not see how putting everybody into one pool of players, and having them choose their preferences, is really any different. People right now, are choosing either classic mix, (CBMM), or everything else,(SBMM). In what you want, people would either choose to matchmake by connection, (CBMM), or matchmake by skill, (SBMM). If the system gave each player exactly what they ask for, the players would still be separated, just by the choice they make. I really do not see how there is any substantial difference between the two. I honestly wish you could explain this in a way I could understand how or why it is any different.

It's one of those thing that suck unless you implement it properly... All or nothing.
-
12 AntwortenThat’s what Bungie is doing now, and people are choosing SBMM. You will never give the Sweaties what they want unles you force. people into the CBMM list and they get their weaker players to stomp.
-
12 AntwortenNot enough players, hence it will not work for this game.
-
7 AntwortenLike how quickplay and competitive were before? Except competitive used glory for matchmaking
-
What they need to do is implement a "handicap system". Initial thoughts would be something like the existing Light Level Advantages curve but tied to your skill instead. The lower your skill, compared to everyone in the match, the more handicap advantage you have. That way if you happen to match up with similarly skilled players you may not have any handicap advantage. However, if you are low skilled and match up against high skilled players you get a little help so you don't have a completely miserable experience. SBMM would still need to be considered however it could be drastically loosened up. You still wouldn't want to be a sub-1 KDA player going up against a 4+ KDA player. This would allow all playlists to use CBMM and then optionally have the handicap enabled or not. The intent of this would be to try to get the advantages of both MM types. I'm not saying all playlists need to enable the handicap, however the casual playlists should. The handicap advantages could then be fine tuned as needed. The only reason I can think of to be against something like this is because you are a tryhard who doesn't want to actually compete and just wants to destroy lower skilled players. Comp should use CBMM in combination with your glory rank.

1 AntwortenReminds me of halo... You know bungies best work
-
1 AntwortenI see that there is a comment below that would say nothing would change by doing this. I still believe an idea like this where there is a meeting in the middle, is best. Bungie has too much history in going to extreme sides on issues like this. Let's find a middle ground.
-
2 AntwortenBetter team balancing is key.
-
8 AntwortenI'm apparently a trashcan yet I still think SBMM is the most jerryrigged fake fakeness I've ever seen. No one that has over 10K PvP matches respects it. It just needs to go. If we have to have the P2P then it there should be zero SBMM. Team balancing fine. SBMM no. Its just not worth the effort if you have to figure out how your guns are going to work match to match or playlist to playlist.
-
2 AntwortenBecause the results would be predictable. The jerks who only play to pub stomp noobs would pick the one that gave them the best chance to do that.
-
25 AntwortenStop posting this everywhere, it's a terrible idea. Matchmaking times are already poor through low player numbers and you're proposing further division of the player base?
-
1 AntwortenThey cant because nobody plays. Imagine how much lower that number would be if it were split in 2. Plus the incessant whining you'd hear from the streamers and tryhards about how nobody is in CBMM would be epic.
-
9 AntwortenHow is that any different than what we have now? You want CBMM go play Classic. The problem is no one is playing classic. That's the problem and it should absolutely tell you something.
-
Good luck dude! It seems to be quite a touchy subject for some....
mostly the ones who aren't as good as they thought ;)
Bearbeitet von an Ape with a d2 addiction: 1/10/2020 10:54:41 AMAlways found it bit comical seeing your posts floating among the flamewar threads. The small isle of reason. But seriously this has always been a good proposal. I don't understand why bungo keeps pinballing between the 2 extremes (SBMM or CBMM) that neither work because of their networking model or terrible team balancing. Just a small tweak. Make a properly implemented SCBMM hybrid (loosen SB a little + tighten CB a little) or let players tweak their SB/CB MM boundaries within a single MM pool like proposed here.
-
Oh yeah, Reach has a Social settings tab too, you could try filtering the personalities of the players in your matches. Wow, so much more in-depth than nowadays.
-
1 AntwortenI'm all for ending that dumb debate for sure and I like all ideas which can bring us closer to this but this should be done in very transparent way so EVERY player know what mode he plays and options for that are not Buried somewhere deep in options (I never played halo so I don't know how that has been done there) ,I don't want less skilled players be farmed and quit the game like this happened when D2 was free on B.net and made QP sweat fest for months.
-
Look TJ, a post about compromise and everything I predicted in my first response came true didn’t it? Considering that you and I are in the middle, which of the two sides do you feel is displaying more hostility? CBMM or SBMM? Or you can distance yourself from me, I’m a pariah... I’ll understand.
-
7 AntwortenI think SBMM should only be in modes like Comp, Iron Banner, Rumble, stuff like that. Clash, Control and other modes are for casual play and should focus on CBMM to provide the best experience.
-
1 AntwortenIt's as simple as loosening the sbmm criteria I don't mind playing against people my skill but I refuse to believe at 7pm the only people it can find are in Brazil, Korea or China. Widen the search a little bit and problem solved because right now it dials in way to far on whatever bungies bs elo system is not even kd/a I play with people as high as over 2 and as low as a 1.0
-
1 AntwortenSorry i am not a big fan, matching based on language is ridiculous
