Every game of IB is full of shotguns, the majority of the time what do you see in the kill feed? Shotguns.
So do shotguns need to be balanced? Obviously not. Everyone says the meta is the best it's ever been because they all love the repetitive motion of sliding and shotgunning, running away and then shotgunning someone else, etc.
And if it's not shotguns, it's cross map fusion rifles instead. Both weapons are a bit inconsistent at least on console due to the spread being a bit RNG but how bout we fix that and reduce the range on shotguns and improve primaries like SMG's so they stand a chance against shotguns.
The shotgun in particular that I find to be a bit ridiculous more than the others is mindbenders ambition and it's archetype.
Why can a shotgun with only a little extra impact more than say dust rock blues get the same range if not more range than a God roll dust rock blues when it's range stat is less than half of said dust rock. That shows that the damage falloff on shotguns is not high enough.
The impact isn't much higher so that shouldn't be contributing much and again, the range is less than half... Does the range stat even mean anything on shotguns or do they just shoot further the higher impact they are? There's nothing balanced about shotguns. That's not even talking about the ability to blow both your shotgun rounds on someone then pick up 3 rounds from their corpse... cause that's how you get people doing nothing but shotgunning.

I think the whole idea of super soldiers suffering from recoil is absurd to begin with
