Cheating on PC (especially in comp) is horrendous right now and its getting worse day by day.
Every 2nd match has at least one cheater if you are playing above 4k. I hit legend myself every season within a few hours and I helped over 100 Guardians to reach legend as well.
There are literally people out there cheating in destiny 2 on steam since Shadowkeep released and they still havent received a single ban. And what happens when they get banned? They create a new one and cheat again. Even a hardware ID ban doesnt help since there are simple ways around that.
When cheating gets adressed we always hear things like "The team is working on reviewing reports and banning people" and I believe that they are working hard but I dont think and dont feel they are doing it good. Theres should be no way that people cheat for 4 months on the SAME ACCOUNT without people reviewing it. And if they review it and for some reason decide not to ban him I wonder what they are thinking if they see him hitting 50 headshots with their sniper in a row.
A good player usually can tell in the first engagement whenever someone is cheating and if they dont they certainly know that somethings off. Cheating is such a big problem currently that whenever someone hits a few very weird snipes in quickplay I just cant trust him about being a clean player since everyone can toggle a aimbot on and off with a single hotkey or during a gunfight.
I feel like the game should be able to detect players teleporting from one side of the map to the other and respawning an infinite number of times. And even if people respawning an infinite amount of times get instantly detected and banned there are still so many more people trying to hide their aimbotting by not doing it too aggressively.
We desperately need a fix for this. Cheater Numbers are increasing instead of decreasing.
So there are 2 solutions to this:
1. Disable Competitive PvP (and trials in the future) for new light accounts. (Trials will probably be tied to the current season anyway)
People would still cheat in quickplay but I dont think bungie will ever disable pvp in general for new light players since they want them to get a feeling of destinys pvp. But I like the next idea more:
2. Creating a new way of reporting and banning people
Since Destiny is becoming more of an mmo why dont we just apply the "gamemaster system". Known and respected players and people in the community get "extra rights" and are able to ban people if they are undoubtfully cheating. If gamemasters abuse their power they lose their gamemaster rights and get banned themselves. People would be able to write tickets with evidence footage and gamemasters would be able to review them. And if you get banned or a gamemasters cant help you you can write a ticket to "super gamemasters" which would be bungies actual support team. This way bungies support team doesnt have to review every single report by themselves and I'm pretty sure there are many people who would happily help to remove cheaters from this game.

I had a few Chinese pricks a few days ago that started the match by teleporting to use and immediately popping their supers. Followed by connectivity issues that disallowed reporting them.

PC master race amirite???

I've encountered a ridiculous amount of damage and rate of fire hackers lately. Body shot you once with beloved, it ticks once for the normal damage and then you just die a millisecond after as if it was a headshot, even though the feed shows a body shot. Or revokers shooting twice before a pulse can even fire the second bullet of a burst... The best though, was a Rose that was one shotting people. I hit legend last season, got NF and the mida catalyst, and now I have no reason to ever try that hard in comp again. I only saw like 3 blatant cheaters last season... This season I see one every other match, sometimes every match. Free to play ruined PvP more than it already was.

Creating a new way of reporting cheaters sounds like a great idea except for the fact that if you’ve played up to this point Bungie already got what they want out of you so what the -blam!- do they care lol
-
Don't worry, their 'renewed focus on PvP' should kick in any day now...
-
This is why I sold PC and got a console. Every shooter game there is aimbots and wall hacks and all sorts of crap out there to buy for next to nothing.
-
Come over to console where there’s 98% less cheating, shooting straight requires finesse and you won’t feel like you need a shower and a penicillin shot after playing. I love PC FOV and frame rate but 30 frames and the FOV are things your brain can adjust to and consoles aren’t filthy repositories of disrespectful cheaters ruining the game we love. Just do PVP on an X1X or PS Pro and do your PVE on PC.
-
At least it’s not fallout 76? 🤣 could get your whole inventory swiped...
-
Pc = Master Cheats 😅😅
-
How many people do you want to be banned? If they ban lot of people, who will buy silver. Live with the cheaters? I can’t see any solution for this Bungie without Activision.
-
New light players shouldnt be allowed to play pvp, gambit or any activity with matchmaking. They should only get acess to the story and the patrol zones. If they buy forsaken or SK, then they would unlock the matchmade activities.
-
It's why I don't play on pc. I knew they wouldn't be able to stop the hackers.
-
Well that's PC for ya 🤷♂️ While Destiny on pc looks hella smooth and fast compared to consoles I would still play on a console anyday!
-
That's why I womt play on PC. Its too easy to hack the game and cheat
-
PC always has hackers as its an open platform. That what you get for playing there i suppose
-
You probably got outplayed.
-
I cannot tell you how many people in the last two days (that's probably about 8 hours combined of PVP) I have reported for wall hacks and other various cheats in Crucible.
-
I have reported a couple of accounts for cheating but not through the bungie system in D2. If you report them through steam by clicking on view profile, the chance that they get banned increases. That being said something should still be done about it. Linked is a beautiful example of a cheater with 20 kills and 0.17 efficiency
-
Never really saw cheaters on PC till free to play. Free to Play shouldn't be able to PvP.
-
This is why real men play on PS4. No chicken cheats there, just real men 👍
-
This is why we can't have nice things. If Trials is coming back were only going to see cheating double or triple.
-
And yet people are still crying about wanting trials back
-
Gamemasters... lmao
-
until we get them dedicated servers IF we ever do cheating will still continue
-
Destiny pvp is honestly the worst pvp is experience I’ve ever had. It’s constantly laggy, the cheating is awful, and the team balance is non existent just like ten care bungie has for d2 pvp.
-
Wish it didnt take a known name to make people aware, Ive been trying to call out the cheating issue for months and no one cares. But Im glad awareness is being raised no matter what, Bungie has to stop ignoring it at some point.
