I don't understand why even though this feature is in the game it's deliberately disabled for a great deal of activities.
Withholding it is a completely pointless impediment for people looking to experience content. I never understood why so many features which should be in game have been pushed to third party apps and websites, but as inconvenient as it was they at least worked.
However with moving to Steam that doesn't seem to be the band aid it once was, not only is the "Find Fireteam" list inundated with people on multiple platforms you couldn't join even if you wanted to, but even when you find people on your platform people don't seem to use it.
Invites go unseen, attempts to join fireteams are rebuffed with messages about the fireteam leader only allowing friends and clan members to join them and it really highlights two things.
The first is that this "system" is not fit for purpose.
The second is that it's completely unnecessary. The find a fireteam thing is basically doing what matchmaking does anyway, it just vastly inferior in pretty much every way.
Which begs the question why isn't automatic matchmaking just generally available? It makes no sense.
I've been sitting here racking my brain trying to work out why this is the way it is whilst looking for a fireteam for the new dungeon (having all the problems described above), and the only thing that I can think of is that something to the effect of...
"We can't have matchmaking for dungeons/nightfalls/whatever because then there would be little to differentiate them from strikes."
Which is not only a horrible reason to inconvenience the player forcing them out of the game to stare at websites that shouldn't exist, but it's also horribly pretentious.
There are lots of things in this game that puzzle me, having collections full of items you can't get back forcing you to horde gear you never use in a bank with very limited space. Being unable to arrange or search your bank without going to a third party website. Being unable to create and save loadouts to easily spec different weapons and armour to switch between depending on what you want to do in a game that effectively functions like a digital pinata.
Lots of really basic things that should be in this game, yet aren't, but then you have features which are in the game which could save everyone a lot of dicking around, and could most likely be implemented in the time it takes to change a "0" to a "1" in a config file... yet you don't do that.
It doesn't make any sense.

I want MM for when i start up the game. Lets boot up...together. <3

1 AntwortenWould be great. The match made nightfalls are getting easier and easier with players knowing what to do. Nearly hit 100K in the matchmade nightfall. As long as you kill all the champions, what’s the problem?
-
Seriously though, it's time to do this.
-
Agreed, everything 950 and under at least.
-
Would love matchmaking for lvl 950 Ordeals. 920 is too easy, and I'd like better gear without needing to join a clan.
-
I've always supported optional MM for every activity. In not saying I would use it for Raids, but at least I have the freedom to do it, if I choose. I know a lot of you guys would be willing to roll the dice and give it a shot. Also, on the flip side, I can turn MM off when doing regular Vangaurd strikes if just me and a friend feel like clearing a whole area, instead of rushing through. Has advantages from both points of view. I also believe more people would try raids if there was MM. Maybe start a normal with MM and then maybe for heroic, you have to have a fireteam. MM for everything has been a long battle with Bungie. They finally caved with the NF, maybe a little more prodding, we can get it for everything else.

I agree with everything you said.. no matchmaking is keeping me away from a lot of content, because I have no interest in dealing with third party apps and websites.. did it through destiny 1 and I’m over it.. matchmaking would work fine.. and there is no logical reason why it’s not in game yet.

45 AntwortenIts funny how all the kids who play the game with their little friends are against matchmaking, yet they dont realise that the majority of the population are solo players. Without solo players, this game would truly be dead. They bring up the same dead argument about "it wouldn't work, no communication". But It doesn't affect you because you won't be using matchmaking, will you? If it really doesnt work, why not just let people find that out through matchmaking? There is no endgame content for most people, the only thing that comes close for me is soloing nightfalls... shattered throne was great, and maybe the new dungeon, but thats about it.

Can we have matchmaking for matchmaking please too?
-
2 AntwortenI'm not being nasty, but have you done any raids? Matchmaking into a raid sounds like a complete nightmare. I used to think... hrmm, why can't i matchmake into this? Well whatever, I'll use discord. Now I'm like... oh yeah, that would have been a depressing shit show.
-
Matchmaking into raids is an awful idea. I have no idea how a raid would even function with a party full of people with no mics. You can't just solo that stuff. Sorry, but no. Matchmaking in everything is a bad idea. Maybe more things? Sure but what's left that isn't matchmade already?

NOMEGALUL

1 AntwortenYea ummm no. Can’t even run the matchmaking nightfalls sometimes cause of under leveled people with horrible load outs and no clue to what’s going on.
-
Absolutely not. This one player going AFK for half. 920 ordeal proved why you can’t have matchmaking in high level activities. Imagine matchmaking in the 980 ordeal and some dude is going AFK. Think that’s cool? I don’t.
-
It really doesn't make any sense whatsoever, the only arguments against matchmaking in every single activity are instantly invalidated when you make it OPTIONAL. Even the haunted forest has the option to matchmake or solo, just put this in everything.

1 AntwortenOptional - yes.

4 AntwortenThis should be a priority for Bungie, it directly affects the in-game experience. I remember the first years of D1, when the first raid started, I had to go to a strange page, see the ads, write down the name and send a message within ps3 and wait if I accepted or not. And that was the "multiplayer" experience of those times. I played for 6 months on D1 and then quit because it was boring. I went back to D2 recently and I see that the system has not changed, only now they make it more "elegant". Seriously, how can you think that to find a group you have to leave the game and go to a website? They have two options, or they turn everything into automatic search (matchmaking) or they add within the game system to find groups (LFG, as in the wow, for example) The other time I read some kind of interview to I don't know who, I think it was called victory or something, and it was incredible the things I said in response to "priorities." These guys really don't know anything. I still remember the interview that they had done at the beginning of D1 after their departure, they had said something like "we didn't know well what we were doing", "but now they understand and they are going to improve", that day I left D1 completely, really I realized that they had no idea what they wanted to do. It is incredible that having been so long next to a giant like Blizzard and his World Of Warcraft have not learned something from them.

No so many people are terrible in activities that only require common sense.
-
thank you for this post, i don't have friend so im very dependent on matchmaking it seem most of stuff and content on D2 is for filthy casual but then again there's raid and some other that require sweaty players(like me) but like i said i don't have friend so i didnt do those
-
The Activities with out are meant to be challenging, your meant to gather a fire team to do it. It's in nearly every game. The harder it is, means need to find people. Yes it's hard to find people, but that's why you search to find others to play with. If everything had matchmaking people would start getting pissed that they keep getting paired with moron's.( Not calling you one) get friends to play with you or find people to play with, clan,PSN Destiny Community, there's alot, but find one that's a good fit. Let's say you did the Leviathan raid 5 times( you learned all the encounters) then you go in with matchmaking and got 4 out of 6 that had no idea what to do. Do you feel like teaching if you wanted to just speed run it? You see my point, no matchmaking is there for a reason. Again look at every MMO RPG/ ARPG, they all have matchmaking and non matchmaking, depending on the mods.

l would hate to start a 950 with 2 randoms who don't have any anti or overloaded weapons..you see plenty of them in the 920 nf's and with everything locked at 950 l could see it being horrible if people weren't prepared. So yeh an option would be the only good thing here
-
Yes it's a really annoying experience to have to go on the app or third party lfg to find people to play with and sit there for hours just to have no one play with you there is really no reason to not have matchmaking on everything like seriously give me one good reason why some things don't matchmake....don't worry I'll wait

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Phoenix: 10/30/2019 7:15:45 PMWe should and it should be "optional". Sometimes forced matchmaking becomes a problem like those Adept and Heroic Nightmare hunts/Ordeal Nightfalls.
-
5 AntwortenWhy not just do what Haunted forest does "matchmaking" and "firewalled" just add power level requirements.
-
4 AntwortenDude, it took Bungie 5 freaking years just to give nightfall matchmaking and you are asking for everything to have it?😂 You would have better luck winning the lottery.
-
Not having matchmaking at 950 level is just asinine.
