I always see hate on Fortnite since it got popular or because people think art style=child. However I must say since I’ve played just about every online shooter since Halo 2 really launched console online gaming... Fortnite takes more skill than all of them. It’s so mechanically challenging even with so much practice. There are so many different strategies the community has developed with building: double ramping, quad ramping, tunneling, 90s, editing and trap editing. It would take me months of non stop play to get even close to higher skill level. You combine all that with normal third person gunplay and a bunch of items to get used to and it’s so damn challenging. Not to mention the sheer verticality of fights. We can be fighting at sky level, having to launch ourselves on other bases or edit our way down or stay beneath all the other builds. Not to mention how crucial map position becomes towards the end and how many crazy scenarios it can cause. Good luck building to scale a mountain in the top 20 with teams above and below and the storm coming in on you.
Or get ready to experience everyone in the last circle sliding across ice, or building up from rising lava in the lava game mode. I’ve seen more crazy shit happen in the end games of this game than I can count. More clip worthy things than most of the other top games of the last ten years combined.
It’s fun too tbh. It’s legit just a grand scale online sandbox. It’s what we wanted during the Halo 2 custom games era. A bigger map than we could imagine with all sorts of crazy stuff to mess around with. If you’re a regular old hater I challenge you even watch the end game of a pro match and not be amazed by what you’re seeing. It’s a level of scale you don’t see in any other games. Plays are made that you simply couldn’t make in any game.
I seriously think everyone’s just a hater at this point. I’m 26 and have been playing shooters my whole life and my friends and I still enjoy it from time to time. We get destroyed usually these days but it can still be fun.

2 AntwortenCounter point: it’s not that the game requires more skill, it’s that it requires a very different skill set than most shooters Example, in most shooters if you get caught out in the open or push at a bad time, or just in general move when you shouldn’t, you’re gonna get punished for it, however in fortnite on more than one occasion I’ve ambushed people who aren’t paying attention to their surroundings only for a five star hotel with wifi to appear instantly nullifying any advantage I had from having a high angle and taking the opening shot However, the ability to get structures built quickly as well as use building to push is a skill in itself, ive sat back and watched people who are good at building fight, the structure that is left over is absolutely terrifying What I’m trying to say is that while the building is a skill on its own, it dulls the need for the situational awareness or use of cover you’d rely on in other shooters

It would be a great game if bloom wasn't such AIDs

The Building is complex and gives the game play a dimension that is unique. But as a pure shooter? The game is as simple as it gets.

4 AntwortenI don’t really care about Fortnite because it’s battle royale. The game mode just doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest. I was much more interested in the PVE side of things, but that’s never going to get finished.

18 AntwortenHalo requires more skill that any other fps. Been that way for a looooong time. I dont know how to word it right, but it also has the most skill gaps. Its proven so dont even try to argue this. You can take someone who's mildly good at halo and they will excell in any other shooter out there. It's a fact.

Personally I couldn’t stand fortnite when I used to play it. Biggest problems that I had were the random weapon bloom and for example how if I fired an AR and I had the crosshairs right on someone the bullet could still miss due to random bloom. And also I could never get the hang of building, so I just stick to PUBG instead. Not that fortnite is necessarily a bad game...but just not my cup of tea.

I totally agree! I love Fortnite (the game) but hate Fortnite (the players) and metas have pretty much sucked for a while but there’s still hope for change

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Neko Neko Nya: 10/28/2019 5:18:17 PMWhat irritates the -blam!-ing hell out of me is the fact the game doesn’t punish recklessness. You could be running out in a field by yourself and I could be with my squad stacked behind cover and you’d still win because of the bullshit building spam ability. Games like Halo punish you dearly for running out of cover like that.

4 AntwortenFortnite is pretty hard cause you have to learn how to build, and sniping is pretty hard too But in my opinion, PUBG is harder, cause with fortnite it's just "ooh I found a legendary therefore it's the best gun" meanwhile with PUBG, the best weapons come down to your personal choice Do you like something with high damage low fire rate? Or vice versa? And unlike fortnite, when you get shot at, you can't build a recreation of the empire state building for defense In PUBG, you could be running in the middle of the fields with no cover for miles and you could get shot at and unless you find the guy who's shooting you, you're pretty screwed

2 AntwortenIf it didn’t have the building garbage and it had a pvp mode that I can respawn in I would actually enjoy it. The gunplay, while simplistic, was enjoyable imo

3 AntwortenI think it’s kinda overrated, the building. All you need is a few walls to protect yourself.
-
3 AntwortenRainbow six siege. Most of what I see from the building in Fortnite is muscle memory. You remember the buttons to press so when getting into situations you just naturally build sky towers. I’d say R6S is more tactical and requires more skill working with and around teammates, as well as being aware of surroundings rather than building a walk between you and the opponent.

My goodness, I think you just found a game with a worse reception ‘round these parts than Density

Building adds a lot to that game, but I think the class system of Apex Legends adds more layers to the genre.

I agree. It is a difficult and can be fun sometimes. I think part of the reason Fortnite has so much bad rep is because of the community. That’s what makes people dislike the game. Also, the frustration of starting over again every time you die.
