Title. There’s so many impressive and diverse themes in the Destiny universe, and so many places to pull themes from, yet we end up with bland and boring gear. Why? Why is it the only really unique and thematic pieces are Exotics and SOMETIMES raid gear? Everyone always refers to Age of Triumph gear from D1 but that’s really an impressive feat on Bungie’s end. Why isn’t there more of that? Consider Last Wish. I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the Last Wish raid sets. The weapons weren’t TERRIBLE, but can you imagine if they looked more chaotic? They’ve got these nice little constellation patterns, but what if we had ornaments that replaced those nice constellations with the swirling Taken abyss? And the armor, COME ON. The Great Hunt set just looks like world drop legendaries. There’s even less Taken/Ahamkhara theme there. I was so disappointed to see the gear, but held out hope that the Prestige Last Wish would bring cooler gear or cool ornaments... but wait, no Prestige Last Wish. Scourge had a decent theme that followed the whole of Black Armory, but now with Crown of Sorrows we have this weird mashup of rusted, tarnished weapons and bright, flashy Calus armor. As it stands in Destiny there’s no Cabal themed armor despite an entire campaign focused around them, the Tangled Web set is the only Fallen themed armor (reskinned from the Taken King set without the Taken) (Scatterhorn doesn’t count. Look at the Hunter set and tell me that’s Fallen themed) there’s no Scorn Armor besides the random Scorned Baron chestpieces that don’t have random rolls, no Hive themed, no Vex themes except MAYBE the year 2 Omega Mechanos Set from EVERVERSE??? There’s so much room for really impressive armor sets but we end up with things like the Scatterhorn sets and it’s just really dissappointing.
Tldr: Bungie, re-hire whoever you fired. There’s opportunity for some of the most impressive armor design in RPG history if you just take the initiative and work with what exists in the universe you’ve built. There’s fanart that really exemplifies this, with Cabal Gladiator Titan, Psionic Warlocks, War Beast Hunters sets, really really cool stuff.

Bearbeitet von Atreuss: 8/15/2019 9:00:37 AMAgreed most armor sets look like junkpile trash not counting raids, solstice and eververse stuff. I do think the forge and reckoning is not that bad though. Even weapon ornaments look pretty bad on eververse imo. I am glad that are putting the armor ornaments in to use so will most likely use those from my eververse collection. If we are only getting one new set of armor and it's the one from the shadowkeep vid, that definitely will need ornaments. Hopefully there are other sources not counting raid.

1 AntwortenWarlock chest armor in D2 is awful except for the Forge chest piece. It looks like something a sith lord would wear..I haven't taken mine off since I got it.

You mentioned Taken king so you might be refering to the reprised sets from the 2016 april update. Had to do it, it was bugging me.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Corrick II: 8/11/2019 2:13:35 PMThe artists weren’t fired, they just moved on which is natural in the industry. I really miss a few of the old artists, they hit my personal style right on the nose. The new artists are talented, but either their styles don’t vibe with mine or the art director is just trying out anything they can think of which leads to too much of a mix-and-match look. The armor styles are very confused right now. I’d love it if they took a cue from the old Titan Spektar chroma set. Hands down my favorite armor set from D1. The Forge sets from D2 were also some of the better futuristic looks. I’m cautiously optimistic and I know they’re capable of making cool designs, but seeing the teaser armor from Shadowkeep reminds me they still haven’t gotten past the scavenged “trash” aesthetic just yet.

Bearbeitet von xTh3XPr0g1dyx: 8/11/2019 4:50:25 PMI would argue that theyre too unique to the point where its difficult to mix n match. Also the theme has shofted from space soldier to more of a fantasy type deal.

10 AntwortenAgreed. D1 armour was better, although towards the end they did start to reuse armour assets and slap a new paint job on. With D2 they've been extremely lazy, weapon and armour design is awful and Hunters got the shaft big time with their homeless hobo look. The only decent armour sets are from Escalation Protocol, the rest are garbage.

1 AntwortenD1 = Bungie D2 = Blandgie 😉

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von GifuBound: 8/10/2019 10:19:52 AMHopefully shadowkeep has armor just as good or better than age of triumph stuff. Saw some blurry images of some possibly new sets during the vidoc, could be raid gear but it looked like it could be really cool. Definitely had a vex, black garden vibe.
