I have been playing Destiny for many years , I love the game.. I am a older player still playing since video games began. Last May 2018 I had a stroke lost the use of my left side arm hand and leg. I never thought i would ever be able to play my xbox again, But I was wrong . During rehab for my hand another gamer encouraged me to try it, said it might help So i did , To my amazement after a few month my hand started getting a little better. I have movement bagk in my hand. I'm not the awesome player I once was lol, but i can play again. Not all games just Destiny works for my hand. so i just wanted to shout out to xbox and Bungie for having a awesome system and game. gave me a bit of fun back in my life back.

Have you considered that gaming for your entire life may have contributed to you having a stroke?

well done guardian. the road to recovery is long and challenging. my thoughts are with you on this. the progress as you know can be at times quick and obvious and sometimes slow and subtle. my wife two years ago suffered a stroke at age 49. she too lost the use and control of her left side... during her acute rehab they did have a xbox with custom controllersj available. and though it was frustrating she worked hard to play battle toads.... not well ( which pissed her off ) but it was a challenge that she was able to meassure her progress, work to re establish the connects between imput and output... though at the time the drs. saw it as a recreational activity my wife and i believed it was more than that. hopefully more of this will be adapted for therapy. we donated a bunch of ps3 and games to them when we moved on. At home we of course continued , and though at times the shear bombardment of visual stimuli would get very tiring and skills where slow to return/rebuild and frustrating it was something she worked on, because she is a gamer. my wife is rockin and rolling again. its amazing. theres still challanges and such ahead however she has regained so much. video games played a part in many ways. so i appluad you guardian on your journey. live long and prosper.

Wholesome post :) Glad this game gives you joy and helped recovery!

Broke both hands in a motorcycle accident... Xbox pro controller really helped me out

2 Antwortenya... but i have hearing problems and i cant use a mic so no one will raid with me or go into comp with me because the game is so mechanic heavy or team stack dependent. So... for me it's not a great tool for the handicapped, it reminds of my limitations instead of letting me forget i have them.

The title made me think this was going to be a super toxic post, but I was surprised. Keep going! I hope it gets even better for it to be how it once was.

I had a similar issue in 2006 with a car accident. My right brachial plexus got crushed, so I totally understand what you mean. Good to hear you are recovering well buddy. Good luck to you.

Keep at it. Wishing you a Speedy recovery. - It will take some time but just keep pushing yourself. The mind is a powerful thing, it can aid the body in recovery. Anything that has to do with losing control of your hands are shit - especially hand injuries. I shattered every metacarpal in my left hand about 8 years ago. Total I had 3 surgeries over the course of a Year to fix the thing. Had a bunch of springs, plates, screws and pins put in. Fell on my arm and one pin pushed out and severed the tendon in my thumb and damaged muscles in my Hand. They had to replace that tendon with one they cut from my index finger. took me the better part of 2 and a half years through physio etc to get to the point where I could close my fist without any pain and gaming helped with that. keep at it.

This made me happy. Glad you could keep playing 💙

um.... "xbox bad, playstation good?" sorry, i'm just trying to think of something negative to say. -- glad you're back in the fight. i'm getting up there in age. i can tell my vision is going and can feel a change in my hands. not being able to game would be life altering. Godspeed, Guardian!

So sorry about your stroke but I’m glad your feeling better and are back at it guardian!

Nice! On Xbox you have more accessibility options with the multiple usage and customizable Xbox Adaptive Controller.

I’ve heard games can be really good for many types of injuries where muscle function/joint mobility is lost. Had a few friends break parts of their hands and recover really fast because the game forces them to keep using them.

Glad to have you back in the fight guardian! Best wishes and Godspeed on your road to recovery!

Congrats on your progress to recovery. A number of games and systems are used to rehab stroke victims. They're a great tool for that. Science is an amazing thing; if only we could keep politicians and religious anomalies out of it.
