Just did a LW run, three first timers and three with experience within two hours. That’s not that long, Especially when you consider we did Riven without the cheese.
These guys were my 52nd people to have sherpa’d into LW and made my 39th clear without 1k voices. I had a lotta fun, and this was a really quick run for a riven legit clear.
Edited out a bit that I didn’t mean to sound as hostile as it did. Definitely didn’t write that one as I meant it.

2 AntwortenTook 4 newbies through last wish. Took 7 hours. If the people you’re teaching are good it’s not hard at all. But if they barely play endgame/challenging content get ready to smash your head against the brick wall.
-
Respect to anyone who teaches and guides the inexperienced raiders through their first time. The raiding community slowly grows and improves with each newcomer we teach properly.
-
As someone who used to not have a fireteam that I did raids with I thank anyone who is willing to teach people how to do the raid. Abandoning them because they don’t immediately know how to do it isn’t going to help them at all and let someone miss out on content. Besides experience is the best teacher in case anyone comes in saying (just watch a YouTube video)

1 Antworten"Teaching new raiders doesent take that long" "Finished it under 2 hours" lmao Yeah I'll stick to experienced groups no thanks
-
Good on you for being patient and walking first time raiders through the raids. Not a lot of people out there who would do that. Respect.
-
I’d love to learn some raids, generally the teaching runs in my clan are at awkward times for me.

Because that's what heroes do. Nice to see a fellow LW sherpa out here.

Bearbeitet von Raevenent: 7/6/2019 11:31:55 PMTeaching a decent player doesn't take long, they'll usually get what's going on on the first or second attempt through. I've done a lot of sherpas, and they are time consuming, sometimes mentally exhausting, it really depends on the student. Being honest though, some people are just unteachable, I know it's a harsh thing to say but I've seen and taught quite a fair bit of those types of people. Kudos for trying(To learn it) though. For example with SotP, the one thing I always say when teaching new people, THE ONE THING I simply can not stress enough, pay attention what buff you are, go to where you have to be, then damage, if you're not where you're supposed to be, you'll tether who ever has a mismatched phase and you will kill them and yourself. If you -blam!- up that's fine, we're all human, but you need to learn from your mistake that caused a wipe, etc. EDIT: And yes I do show them where CAP is, why woudn't you?
-
Teaching decent players isn’t hard and doesn’t take long. Just the fact that teaching adds time makes people stay away from it, but it is rewarding. Most people are decent players, so the raids go pretty smoothly, but every once in a while, you find someone who really leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

1 AntwortenBravo sir. I haven’t had the time to commit to a raid in D2 yet (loved ‘em in D1) but if and when I do, it will be thanks to the graciousness of guardians like yourself.
-
Created a discord for this exact purpose, theres too much "kwtd" on the lfg here. It certainly depends on the personality on who you are sherpa-ing, but of people understand that everyones there for the fun and laughs, then everyone will have a good time.
-
It depends on there attitude and if they want to learn or not. Positive vibes helps a lot. If they just straight ignore the information and do there own thing it's pointless and a complete waste of time for everyone involved. Just ask the question 'are you having fun yet?'
-
True, it doesn't. The only issue I've had when teaching people is whether people are willing to listen or not. By that I mean people that haven't experienced raids will still think they know it all cause they've seen a vid or 2, and think that's the only way to do something.
-
Sherpa who started the fad word ?
-
Unfortunately most of the community is split into two groups. The “KWTD” and those wanting to Learn. So kudos on being a Sherpa. Bridging the equality gap.

4 AntwortenTeach me any of the raids, I would be happy to lead/ teach others in trade!
-
Always good to be non toxic, I appreciate your willingness to Sherpa, because with more people in the population that know how to do a raid the easier it will be for everyone
-
I need to get back out there and learn. Had a bad experience my first time raiding in D2. I had a bad one as well on D1 my first raid but after that had great people teach me and had a blast. I guess I need to be more social.
-
Yikes. I got 1k on my 15th run.

1 AntwortenIt can if the person refuses to listen or keeps playing recklessly. It really all depends on the raid tbh. Last wish/ scourge are probably the easiest ones tot hwere you can afford some one being in experienced and still be able to cover for them easily to help them. CoS meanwhile is a bit more tricky to constantly cover for some one screwing up mechanics, it can be done, but it can also snowball into a trainwreck if you do it too often in that raid for the boss encounters.
-
7 AntwortenSounds like you got a good group. Its nice when that happens!

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von King Neptune: 7/6/2019 1:46:47 PMI only did the LW raid once, but was always on add control (Also Riven cheese). I used to raid all the time before forsaken (Kings Fall is my fav), but honestly not learning the encounters ruined the raid experience. Just being told where I need to stand to kill adds is terrible. Keep in mind I'm used to being on the otherside if the spectrum, cant remember how many times I taught D1 raids and Leviathan. I still havent done SotP or CoS, and probably never will. I have friends who still hasnt done leviathan because no one wants to take the time to work with them. It's depressing at this point.

I agree that (most of the time) teaching people a raid isn't as bad as it is made out to be. While I will admit that I am not really good enough to "carry" a team, I am willing to help teach people the mechanics of a raid. Now, that doesn't mean that I always have the time, but when I do have the extra time, I don't mind. However, I do think that everyone, even first-timers should come in somewhat prepared. First, just watch a guide on youtube - most are around 30 minutes and they give you a base level of knowledge going into each encounter. The video won't make you an expert, and you will likely still need to go through a few wipes to work out the kinks, but the guides are helpful in preparing for the first time through a raid. Second, if the raid is more than a month old, get your light level up to the recommended light level, or at least close enough that you aren't getting crushed every 5 seconds. Personally, I grind pretty hard to get raid-ready as soon as possible, and if you are smart about leveling, it doesn't take that long, especially with Black Armory forges and Menagerie that allow you to go after specific slots that are falling behind. For me, preparation is about respecting other players. As an lfg raider, I don't want to disrespect the time of my fellow raiders, so I level up and prepare with a guide to save time for everyone. I don't think it is too much to ask to go in to a first time raid experience with a little preparation.
