How does one improve in PvP...?
Where is the playlist where I can verse people of similar (and SLIGHTLY) better skill-levels?
I keep getting -blam!-ed in Quickplay, like absolutely DESTROYED. I hear Quickplay is "working as intended" because sweatlords need a place to "kick back and not try so hard" (which aparently means dropping 50+ bombs at my and my kinds (blueberries) expense. Really relaxing for all uf us I tell ya. Having a GREAT TIME being your -blam!-ing punching bag.
So then I hear the Competative playlist offers SKILLBASED matchmaking, so I go try that, obviously thinking I'll have games that are even. WRONG. DEAD WRONG.
I get to 608 Glory Rank (Whooo, yeah I'm THAT BAD, sue me)... and what do I meet? Not Forgotten, a pinacle weapon awarded for reaching Legend. THE TOP TEIR OF COMPETATIVE!!!
What's the "competative" part of having one of the worst D2 players facing off against a team of NF weilding Sweatlords....? Who's entertained by that?
How am I supposed to improve my gameplay against that, it's impossible to keep up.
If I'm trying to excell at math while still on the level of 1+1 being clunky and unintuitive, it's not gonna be fun for anyone if my peers are at the level of solving heat equations with neumann boundary conditions (google it if cunfused) AND WE ARE IN THE SAME -blam!-ING CLASSROOM!!
GIVE ME A PLAYLIST WHERE MATCHMAKING PRIORITIZES SKILLBASE PRIMARILY, CONNECTION SECONDARILY!
What is your experience with matchmaking? Do you think its Great or terrible?
-
Wait until the end of the season... if you go in early, some good players may be getting into the grind at the same time that you are
-
Yep there is too many people that have all the pinacle weapons ..op weapons...etc that still play comp for no reason but to make it harder for any one trying to level up....thats why i think they should bring back trials for all the sweaties...dbags....streamers....and award them with silly belts and achievements..

Agreed. Bungie really needs to do some work on crucible.

1 AntwortenSniping is tough. Going for revoker. I think I get more pts for kills in comp than QuickPay so when that's done, back to grinding wins.

1 AntwortenI actually enjoy the crucible right now. However, I do agree that getting paired against a sweat 4 stack in comp with way higher glory than you is annoying. Bungie should implement their own algorithm for ELO (encrypt it so no one can figure out how to manipulate it) and match players off of that. It could look at a ton of stuff such as KD, character age, time spent in QP, time spent in comp, win/loss ratio, crucible specific triumphs, number of fireteam members etc
-
"Sorry guardian, but I need that sweet, sweet revenue. Stomping on blueberries with 5 of my friends helps pay the bills yO! Dropping those 50 kill games, only in quickplay of course. Completive is too, well, competitive. I've got my sweatlord image to protect. See you in the crucible! I'll be the guy using only meta loadouts. Subscribe and smash that like button! And stay tuned for my video on the latest op gun that needs to be nerfed!"

7 AntwortenWall of text incoming, no tl;dr available, sorry. Almost wanted to quote Hawthorne's "took words out of my mouth":). Because game ploughed me sideways with Prime loot, after skipping May I decided to dedicate this season to Crucible. As I'm abysmal PvP player (k/d 0.3, lol, doubt anyone is worse, I may well be worst active player (400+ matches, lol:))), I can't climb in Glory (in fact I fall back from 400-ish back to beginning *giggles*), thus all pinnacle weapons requiring particular level are unattainable for me. Nevertheless, I'm still playing - this way I simply know I won't get anything, so why worry about loot? My overall experience with PvP in this game was very frustrating. My previous fast-paced shooter was Quake. Not Quake 4 - just Quake. I don't even remember a year it was released, 1996? Yeah, haven't played anything fast since then. So imagine me, guy in his foteys, after military-induced concussion, with some visual/movement problems, on top of that game had technical issues on my PC (thanks to AMD they fixed it), resulting in very bad and uneven FPS (choppy sub 30). Plus I had no idea game can't work properly with high poll rate on my mouse, so my journey to get 25 headshots for Ace of Spades took me almost 40 matches. Crimson helped, but not so much - I'm just that bad:). Anyway, some time later (in fact this April) I get through Last Word quest (and I'm loving that gun, I may suck, but it is so. much. fun - ignore those who say this gun is "PvP only", I'm having a blast with it everywhere I go), and farmed kills for Thorn. Sadly due to my burn out in Gambit Prime (I didn't get Spare Rations for 200 Matches, 50+ Reckoning 3+2 runs, and Collector's triumph) I haven't completed that mission and honestly don't feel like it. Currently I'm working on Revoker (got more kills with snipers at point blank than at range, lol:D) and Redrix - the only 2 Crucible weapons I can get. I mean I also grab all other quests, but as they have Glory level requirement I'll never get there, nevertheless, I'm somehow got to solar kills stage on Luna quest. :D Okay, vent is over, now back to topic. I think bungee fvcked up on multiple levels. While Competitive generally more forgiving and fair than QP, during my Redrix's quest I had to play Competitive matches. And more than once I also was stacked against teams comprised of a) people with Glory of 1000 (I was at 0, as it was my first match this season), b) people with previous seasons pinnacle weapons - Mountaintops, Not Forgottens, Recluses, in various combinations, c) people who stomped us over like it's QP and we're playing against 6-men fireteam of farmers. Only it is Competitive and they aren't fireteam. This clearly indicates that Competitive is anything but skill-based. It is Glory-based. And your rank has nothing to do with your skill. Your skill involves your ability to move and shoot. If bungee is collecting all that telemetry, they should have this data and it can't be that difficult to implement it. My biggest gripes in Crucible in general include: Spawns. I'm not saying Spectral Blades shouldn't be nerfed, but with current maps you can be spawned on opposite side of the map and be killed by same guy in same super. And it's not kill-refilling one. Or you can be spawned literally same place you was just killed, only to be killed by same player who isn't even in his super. Yesterday was spawned at "A" on Legion Gulch almost the same spot where my guardian was killed moment ago. Few days ago similar thing happened on Dead Cliffs in Lockers, only this happened thrice. Match "making". I don't know who designed that, but they is so grossly incompetent should they work at fertilizer plant they'd be making shit. Seriously, "match" between 6-men fireteam armed with pinnacle weapons or currently dorkly weapon (I guess now most complain over lawd of woofs) and 6 or less randoms, some of whom are just fresh of the Farm (wearing white and green) shouldn't even happen. While I was working on Redrix's, I had two matches on Dead Cliffs where we lost like 98/25, 94/18. They end up faster, than we were loading into them. Math. Related to previous point. bungee apparently can't into. They may brag about telemetry as much as they want, but when they put 6 vs 4 (and we had 10 players to begin with, it wasn't 2 accidental leavers or sudden disconnects) - this clearly suggests they don't know how to split evenly. Moreover, when we have only random players, putting highly skilled ones into one team (that has more players) is very strange decision. True, this is rare, in my 400+ matches I've seen that maybe 5 times, generally they do "spread evenly" so each team has godly player, good player, three ok players, and yours truly. :) "We breaking those teams up to find a better match" Couple of times I ended up in winning team when Mercy rule was applied - to each his own, but I don't like that as well as the opposite. I came to play, I'm not interested in match that ends up under a minute. One thing I disagree with Shaxx - best result IS a tie. This means you definitely evenly matched. Next best result is difference in 1 point. Yes, I mostly lost in those, but it never felt bad. Just because we were close. When there is a gap in like 50% of points - that suggests whomever responsible for "match" "making" has failed. Miserably. Minor pet peeve on exotic vs ability. People complain over titan's One Eyed Mask. Hunters have mass wall-hack, moreover, unlike OEM's tracking "cross" hunters' wall-hack allows them to see actual size of opponents' guardians, this allowing them to appraise the distance. OEM does not. All I see is that enemy in that direction. How far away? Hell if I know - he could be behind the wall. Or across the map. Yet when I play as hunter (I'm even worse in that, but at times it happens) I can see the distance by mere size of enemy. And I'm not sure opponents actually have debuff warning, like we have with OEM. Yes, playing against middle tree nightstalker always suggests he will be doing that, and in Rumble there may be a sound cue, but even in Competitive it's hard to hear it due to cacophony of a firefight, let alone on QP, where we have even more players. Following issues may be related to a connection problems, not listed ones. Weapon discrepancy. More than once I witnessed my guardian (titan with resilience of 8+) was one-shotted with a weapon that not supposed to do that. Because opponent was close, there were no instant weapon swap - they used the weapon they were holding in their hands. Ace of Spades is a good gun, but 1 bodyshot at full health? Similarly, I was never able to kill anyone at full health with Fighting Lion. It simply doesn't deal enough damage to anyone. Yet more than once opponents did that with single shot on my guardian. And I was outside of their line of sight/they were alone, so it wasn't combined fire. Titan supers. They suck. Not only Thundercrash requires you to physically fly towards target - unlike Blade Barrage or Nova Bomb, hit registration in Sentinel tree is abysmal. I had people cornered and survived three shield blows. Three! They are guardians, not Gambit's Primeval, not in super, just running away/standing still/punching/shooting, and my hits simply don't register. I tried to play on "America" region, switching it on my Battle.net app, because I couldn't find anyone to play with (relevant error pop-up) in my "Europe" region. Honestly, I noticed no severe (or, actually, any) lag there, I mean my hits connected just fine, their hits connected just fine, nothing unusual, they all went as smooth as possible, not short of "perfect". Thus I sincerely have no idea whether I played against cheaters or just people having connection issues or game just doesn't work (because in PvE sentinel hits also do not connect properly). This concludes my Crucible experience so far, which I find to be extremely fun and enjoyable when most things work.

Bearbeitet von Asylum: 7/2/2019 12:55:17 AMThe problem with crucible is balancing, and bungie has absolutely no idea how to do that. Since PVP and PVE arent seperated in this game they will never be able to balance and make a good MM system. Because... If a perk is god tier in one area and just good in another and they nerf it, then it becomes good in the first area and absolute garbage in the other area. Take the rampage perk (just picking one at random). If it could 1 tap in crucible when proc'ed itd be OP and be nerfed. Well, since PVP and PVE arent seperated in anyway it would also recieve a nerf in PVE making it completely useless becuase the perk runs as a whole in both areas, it doesnt have a distinction between PVP and PVE. This is what forces metas and keeps PVP so impossible to balance. Only way bungie even has a shot in hell at balancing this game, especially PVP, is to make weapons and armor have 2 different set of perks. 1 that proc's in PVE 1 that proc's in PVP That way, when they buff/nerf a PVE perk it stays in PVE and doesnt affect gameplay in PVP and vise verse But with bungies devs a simple change like that is asking A LOT. They can barely keep what they have from bugging out the game entirely. They try to seperate PVP and PVE now it would probably shut the servers down for weeks. But i know the feeling, crucible is horrible in both balancing and MM and makes it imo unplayable. Its highly unrewarding unless youre going for a pinnacle and 99% of them have way to heavy of a grind for what they are. Only one ive seen worth grinding for is the recluse becuase its useful in PVP and PVE (for now until its nerfed) the rest are all PVP oriented and not worth the grind. Imo if i cant use it reliably ANYWHERE in the game its not worth it to me. Ill also have note that i still dont have the recluse because of many of the things you mentioned and at this point consider it a waste of my time because even if it doesnt get nerfed itll become irrelevant come semptember when shadowkeep drops and renders all current weapons and armor useless again

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von TJ_Dot: 7/1/2019 11:21:55 PMThe way I handle it, just do my best. Can't cure idiots, can't cure 4 stacks and 0 chances. Sure I can get mad, but if I get what I want in the end, then I'm fine with it. Never there for Stats Still beats the endless limbo of getting literally nowhere with hardcore SBMM Gotta be able to fight for yourself. Every death is supposed to be a lesson for a Guardian.

I think comp is fine, but it is for teams. I would really like to see a ranked playlist where you only match people of your own level. But destiny loves for streamers to smash noobs. My advice is to not worry about your score or winning/losing. Find some videos that you like to show tactics for how you want to play, and work on little things. Like running away, or using vertical space. Personally I like truevangaurd’s older videos for showing the little things that make you better. It’s possible to get better, but you need to start small. Survive first fight later.

5 AntwortenI've been grinding competitive trying to get some pinnacle weapons and the matchmaking is absolutely terrible. I saw the same group of people 3 matches in a row with maybe 1 or 2 new players getting mixed in every match. I can't believe there are that few people playing comp where I'm stuck with the same 4-5 people for several matches in a row. I wish it was either totally connection based or totally skill based. Right now I find one player each match who is lagging incredibly bad to where they can run up and melee me after i shoot them, and then they die. But i'm also matched against other players equal to my skill or better while having total noobs on my team... Really don't understand how they come up with these groups of players. if it's going to be skill based that's fine, make it all skill based... If it's not going to be skill based make it just connection based... but having it float around in the middle makes for some extreme gaps in skill level. If it wasn't for that comp would be fun to grind.. But you lose an incredible amount for a loss, and when it's so challenging to find a decent team when your in match making it is super frustrating.

11 AntwortenCrucible will never be balanced or otherwise until they make 2 major changes. Skill based Match Making Returns KD only returns Unless those 2 return, the lack of skill you see in PvP will continue and the millenials, whose mothers should have swallowed, will continue to ruin the game and experience for those who are trying to just play the game. There is not a sinlge person who can defend the state of the game, because they all team shot and have their dick in each others ass. How is that competitive? How is that skill?
-
-blam!-ing agreed. It's a pain in the ass stuck against sweaty assholes when you just can't stand against them. Anyone who gets their jollies off to stomping berries like that is not only pathetic, but disgusting.
-
Yeah, it blows chunks right now. But the Streamers and YouTubers love it....#eyeroll I swear, will Bungie EVER figure this sh!t out?! Ever?!

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Erio: 7/1/2019 9:48:45 PMPeople improve if they think/analyze their gameplay or the enemy's. This only works if you're against better Player. It's easy on PS4, for example. Just safe replays of games you did good and utterly bad. Analyze and improve.

I started around 1100 or 1200 glory today. I solo que and I must say today I had the worst luck with my teams and I'm not the best or the worst but at the end of the day today I'm currently sitting in the 300 glory range. This is why I suggest glory rank should have floors. Once you hit 500 or 1000 you can't go below that bit I know it will never happen. But after today I literally don't feel like playing crucible at all. Its so discouraging to the point it almost makes me hate a game I have loved and devoted 5 years to. But at the end of the day I'm going to jump back in Comp. Tomorrow and eventually get the revoker I'm currently sitting less 1000 Glory points away.

2 AntwortenI'm honestly kind of enjoying crucible right now

I improved my game a lot from watching streamers. I'm not as good as them but still I have significantly improved from watching them. Winning your 1v1s is crucial to improvement. Map awareness is another thing also. If you challenge weak your probably gonna die so only engage with full health. Know the part of the maps that 2-3 ppl go to. Stay close to cover.
-
Personally I say throw it out and start over from scratch, pull the whole weed out of the toxic muck and throw it away.

Bearbeitet von k2romeo5-2: 7/1/2019 11:12:48 PMI feel you bro. It's a love hate relationship with bungie. You wonder why they took away the crucible in the forums? Because they don't care. Want pinnacle weapons? Pay for it like the rest of these cheaters. You will not find a fair game playing destiny. Come to terms with that. Now some guy here said use paddles. For your controller. I myself definitely gotta try it. I play on ps4 and i -blam!-ing suck. But i keep playing because deep down i want to be skilled. I want to earn this weapon. I never will but i still try. Why? Because my failure is painfully amusing to myself. I laugh. That right there is my reward. Shoot me. I'll take it. Man i hope you find someone willing to help ya. I doubt it tho. This community has gone to shitt every since the end of D1. Most want to cash in for their help or just be scum whose only existence is destiny and thinking their pros. Sorry you gotta go thru this. Best of luck to ya guardian.

unless you're in a stack you stick to you're team like glue or get team shot that's it, in a nutshell.
