How does one improve in PvP...?
Where is the playlist where I can verse people of similar (and SLIGHTLY) better skill-levels?
I keep getting -blam!-ed in Quickplay, like absolutely DESTROYED. I hear Quickplay is "working as intended" because sweatlords need a place to "kick back and not try so hard" (which aparently means dropping 50+ bombs at my and my kinds (blueberries) expense. Really relaxing for all uf us I tell ya. Having a GREAT TIME being your -blam!-ing punching bag.
So then I hear the Competative playlist offers SKILLBASED matchmaking, so I go try that, obviously thinking I'll have games that are even. WRONG. DEAD WRONG.
I get to 608 Glory Rank (Whooo, yeah I'm THAT BAD, sue me)... and what do I meet? Not Forgotten, a pinacle weapon awarded for reaching Legend. THE TOP TEIR OF COMPETATIVE!!!
What's the "competative" part of having one of the worst D2 players facing off against a team of NF weilding Sweatlords....? Who's entertained by that?
How am I supposed to improve my gameplay against that, it's impossible to keep up.
If I'm trying to excell at math while still on the level of 1+1 being clunky and unintuitive, it's not gonna be fun for anyone if my peers are at the level of solving heat equations with neumann boundary conditions (google it if cunfused) AND WE ARE IN THE SAME -blam!-ING CLASSROOM!!
GIVE ME A PLAYLIST WHERE MATCHMAKING PRIORITIZES SKILLBASE PRIMARILY, CONNECTION SECONDARILY!
What is your experience with matchmaking? Do you think its Great or terrible?

1 AntwortenBest place to improve is, and always will be rumble.
-
Is it just me, or does it seem like QP matchmaking is 3 above average players teamed up with 3 below average players? (Assuming it's 6 solo queue)
-
No you just suck at it.

1 AntwortenHow long has this been an issue?! Do they even read the forums or do they even care at all! This should have been fixed long time ago!!!! it is a travesty

I've actually been enjoying Crucible lately. Starting to get a feel for when to engage and when to run.
-
5 AntwortenI actually like comp but for losses it should be no Glory gained rather than a deduction.

2 AntwortenDespite being a 3800-hour player, I suck in Crucible. I have the fine motor skills of a stoned pregnant hippopotamus, and the reaction time of a dead slug. For the first year or so of D2, even though the dual primary system made the game less than ideal, it was still sort of fun because I was up against players of more or less my own skill level. With the "accidental" removal of SBMM along with "Forsaken", I suddenly found myself getting steamrolled. Generally these days, I'll endure one Crucible match with each of my characters, get the reward. If I'm in a lobby where I can compete, I might play more. Otherwise, I get out of it and wait for Iron Banner, which still has effective matchmaking. Along with Crimson Days, but that's just once a year.

Honestly, bungie needs to add a sbmm quickplay again and comp players can keep their connection based quickplay. I mean IB is sbmm so bungie CAN do it. Bringing back trials would make everyone happy as well because the better skilled players would be playing that mode more often. I don't know why bungie doesn't do this. Would be a lot less hate, anger and toxicity fueling over pvp.

This connection based Mm is atrocious so might as well use skill based and everyone can sweat their balls off in e dry match.

1 AntwortenJoin us on the PVE side of things, where sweat is non-existent and very relaxing :)

21 AntwortenBearbeitet von RussellMania: 7/2/2019 10:28:03 AMOk first off... Dude you have a 1.19 kd overall lol... That's top 19%... You're a decent player. You are not nearly bad enough to be complaining about connection-based matchamking screwing you over because the only people that are negatively affected by it are those in the lowest skill brackets because literally everyone is better than them. Even textbook average players with a 1.0 kd still benefit more from connection-based than skill-based because half the player base is worse than them. Quickplay actually has a lot more skill-based matchmaking than Bungie lets on... That's why when my PVE friends play QP with me they say the lobbies are much sweatier. There's someone with NF in almost every one of my lobbies even though only 7% of the population has NF. I played on a friend's account once who had a 0.4 kd and played absolute bots in QP. There's also lobby balancing... Meaning if four good players are in the same lobby, they are split 2v2. This happens to me all the time as well. This is all pretty frustrating for above-average players like me because, like you said, it's supposed to the playlist where we can just unwind and play some easier to semi-competitive games. Sure it's fine that you may have a sweaty match every now and then, but we are above average, therefore we are better than most people so it just doesn't make any sense statistically that every game should be this sweaty. It sounds to me like you're confusing the hidden skill-based matchmaking and lobby balancing, which is making your lobbies extremely difficult, with connection-based matchmaking. Some of the other playlists are even worse because they use PRIMARILY skill-based matchmaking. Hell, Rumble matches you with tougher opponents each time you win a match, like a tournament system. It's ridiculous. Iron Banner is literally unplayable for me now because of how sweaty it is. I gave up on it this season because I was having such a bad experience struggling to even go positive due to the matchmaking. As for comp, it is not technically "skill-based matchmaking", it is just based off of your Glory. So normally low-rank comp (I'd say under 1500 points) is much easier for good players than any other pvp mode because you are playing anyone in the entire community that also has a low rank with no element of skill being considered. Basically, low comp is what QP is supposed to be for good players. Some games do happen where you're matched against people at Legend rank when you're WAY lower than Legend, which is BS, but it's still not that common. So yeah... Considering you have above-average stats and you're struggling in comp, I feel like your issue is that you are solo queing, or maybe you're trying to use off-meta loadouts in comp which is a huge no-no because even bad players will use the most OP weapons and cheesy strats in comp. TLDR: You are ranked in the top quarter of players. Connection-based matchmaking is NOT to blame for your struggles. Skill-based matchmaking is. Blaming connection-based matchmaking doesn't make sense because there are way more players that are worse than you vs players that are better than you. If QP had purely connection-based mm like Bungie claims, your lobbies would be easy.
What's the "competative" part of having one of the worst D2 players facing off against a team of NF weilding Sweatlords....?
Again... 1.19 kd... top 19% lol... Also, it's spelled *competitive

3 AntwortenQP should be just that. Quick to find matches. With SBMM EVERY game would be a sweat fest. Every lobby would have players from Australia to Guadalajara. Rubber banding all over the place. That’s not fun for everyone all the time. Plus you couldn’t really have an opportunity to try out new loadouts in a real environment. Yes there’s PM but you have to find the players that want to join you. Iron Banner has SBMM enabled and someone is Lagging in every single match. There’s always at least one or two. It’s ok because it’s only one week out the month. Not every freaking day. I agree that Comp should be SBMM>CBMM but just by a hair. It’s a competitive playlist. You expect the games to be harder. But you don’t want to go too far the other way or the same will happen in Comp. laggies everywhere. The point is SBMM and P2P connections really don’t mix. It does not and should not be in every playlist in the game. Besides you’re not going to get better playing the same skilled players as you and truthfully you’re not going pub stomped every game either. If you find a lobby where it seems like you’re getting D’ckd on just requeue and find different players. It’s not rocket science.

Everyone knows matchmaking is completely botched. The REAL enemy this season are the servers. I'm being completed worked over by blatant server advantages to teams, and players halfway across the world. I'm talking shooting the same guns at the same time and theirs registers and mine doesn't. Guns register on the players side, which is a straight up mentally handicapped design. You can win a gunfight purely by having a better connection because your hits will go through, and the other persons won't.
-
1 AntwortenFrom what I’ve seen comp playlist matches you with people of your skill until you hit heroic rank and then you get slammed by people that are way higher in rank than you.
-
18 AntwortenI think ppl who have reached top pvp rank in competitive should only face others who have reached top rank, even at the start of a new season.
-
2 AntwortenCrucible is bad we all know but it has its ups sometimes. Me personally it's the pinnacle rewards that come into play, being locked behind a certain rank and when you try to get it you get teamed up against a full team using that weapon. Not only that but the matchmaking is awful, if you are a solo player you get basically an entire army against you, and what do you get a punch of spoiled blueberries who do nothing. And one last thing the ranks. This comes back to the rewards, comp has 3 fabled rewards. This may sound good but sometimes when you finally reach fabled you only get like 1 and then you have to play like 2 extra matches only for the other 2 to register.
-
4 AntwortenI hate crucible, especially it's toxic player base. I'm currently trying to get mountaintop just because it is very good in crown of sorrow, so I'm running triple grenade launcher. What really annoys me is some kid will kill me with not forgotten or recluse and then bag me like he is the best player of all time.
-
Yeah, I think they expanded the pool they draw from a while back and it’s been that way ever since. Way more sweaty because with twelve people you’re likely to get couple of semi-pros running everyone off the board. Too sweaty for casual gaming anymore for me. I get the milestone and get out.

Git gud?

At first it was a few shaking of heads, but it slowly got worse the more I kept reading. I tried explaining I had Tourette’s, but the staff weren’t buying it.

1 AntwortenThe only way to get better is to play people that are better than you. I do think the skill variance is a bit wider than other games, but I also think there are reasons behind it. The glory system is harsh. I wish they would bring back trials for the super sweaties and make competitive a little more casual in terms of ranking up.

15 AntwortenBearbeitet von BCNU: 7/1/2019 5:53:20 PMSometimes you just have to come to terms with the fact that you suck. I have. I think its somewhat age related in my case. I'm almost 60 and just don't have the eyes, hand speed and coordination I once had. I can't blame Bungie when there are obviously really great players who worked their butts off to dominate in Crucible. I need 25 hand cannon precision kills for the Ace of Spades quest. I played 6 matches this morning with 8 total kills but not a single precision kill. I feel bad for my team mates who are carrying the load while I perpetually re-spawn.

The only thing terrible about the crucible is the choices sometimes made. That’s a broad spectrum that may mean something different to everyone. Lol

1 AntwortenCrucible LFG are worse I really hard to find group try to get fabled rank

#cruciblesucksrant. Lol
