With another big DLC coming up, would it be possible to not leave behind all of the gear that we have acquired this time around.
Now I know that any piece can be brought up to the current light level, but they have still been left behind in other ways, such as being essentially removed from all new loot pools, and not being given things like a secondary perk or new mod slot.
I have never understood why it seems like we consistently leave gear behind and make it feel like once again the amount of items available in the game is incredibly limited. On top of that, this process also ends up leaving older activities behind as well, such as EPs, since they can only drop old loot, and said old loot is rarely updated. Maybe more people would have bothered to go and do EPs again if weapons like the ikolos shotgun was updated and could actually compete with the newer shotguns. It is a weapon that could easily still be in most people's prefered loudout, but since other shotguns have the same key perks, and then some, it has simply been replaced and left behind.
So please don't leave our gear behind once again, build upon what you have created rather than replacing and discarding it.

3 AntwortenSo they should overhaul every single item this game has. That doesn't seem very practical at all. I'd like it if they do. But Idk if it's worth the time and effort

3 AntwortenI’m sorry but have you played destiny? They will and always have made armor obsolete. Embrace it and it’s a much easier process and who knows maybe this expansion your armor will still be worth it. You never know, but if I was you I’d start saving enhancements cores

Seems like all Y1 gear was left behind when Y2 started. Looking at you Leviathan (and raid lairs) armor sets, Escalation Protocol armor, and Solstice of Heroes gear. Oh, not to forget about the disappointment from time wasted while grinding for the masterworks on the Solstice armor just to be left behind after Y2 random perks were a thing.

3 AntwortenPlease list some mmo type games that don't eventually negate old/original gear. It's kind of the whole recipe of game design for games that are constantly adding new content. You start out getting gear. You then level it up and tweak it to fit your playstyle. Then you play with it, until new gear comes out, and trumps/replaces your original gear. Then rinse and repeat. Original D1, did this completely until the community complained about their VoG weapons being left behind. It's the whole reason that they introduced the original infusion system, which has now evolved into present day infusion.

I'm okay with going for new gear for new and better stats. They kind of have to do that to keep people playing. What I hate is that all this work that's gone into these old armor sets is going to waste. I just want universal ornaments for all legendary gear, like they're doing with eververse.

They should update all the vendors tbh.

Would be neat to be able to keep older items in relevance throughout new content. Since, that would really enhance the variety of playstyles and options available. Especially given that the framework for at least for light level exists via transfusion. It's not necessarily at odds with new gear either, since you can simply make the process of updating an older item a little bit more intensive than simply using a newer item and bumping up its light level. Though, looking at the 2.0 Armour details, it looks like things should be going in a way that promotes item retention. With the mods being wholly customizable on every item. Meaning that the only things that could be an issue are loot tables and light level if they decide to change how it works. Will be interesting to see how it all works out. If it ends up becoming just about finding a set of cool looking Legendaries and modding them to how you want and getting a couple of Exotics with neat intrinsic traits for your playstyle then great. Especially since they look to be going a bit deeper with mods to add greater customization (With more stats to boot)

1 AntwortenI think they are planing to correct that with the new perk system coming. Not sure about the item level though.

4 AntwortenIt's expected knowing this has been a thing since D1. I have more of an issue with the design of gear then capping things. Although as you mentioned, certain activities would be nice to see moved forward like EP. and even the weapons were well designed. Too many things in this game that just doesn't have that incentive to want to acquire weapons/gear. It's like the team that created D1 was removed from creating D2. This game needs that incentive D1 had and it's not just with weapons/gear. It's also the cosmetic things in this game that have no sense of value anymore. Do you know even up until this day playing D1 gamers know you exist at the tower? You pop on D2 and no sees you...

They need to bring back Dire Promise and trials gear, maybe put it in comp rewards?
-
6 AntwortenWell I think that's what they kinda might be doing? Not entirely certain but I know that at least like the fan favourite gear will be coming back/ brought up and mods are gonna be reworked completely where armour doesn't come with any mods but instead you pick and choose what mods you wanna put in them. Might not be all armour but if it works well with the first batch then I can see it making a bigger impact on the rest of the gear. Like the way I see it could go, would be that all armour gets retroactively changed to the new system and then you can pick and choose what you want from the collection tab. (Also making the collections more useful) Cuz what they want is so that we don't have to choose between good perks and good style. Now we can have both.

2 AntwortenThey did it with D1 so how is D2 any different ..... bungie will always find a way to f*ck over gamers
-
Just make it like ESO keep the max level the same but keep releasing new content to grind for. Then the grind won’t feel so awful at every content release for those with jobs and family’s and such. Also the hardcore will have new stuff to grind for to so it’s a win win

16 AntwortenIt's the same argument as asking to have 1-2 year old Armour or weapon as relevant as the current, of course things evolve over time and should not be held back by people not willing to put effort in. Do not try to stop progress for the sake of laziness in acquiring the new loot.

4 AntwortenLol, you know not Bungie you do - Yoda

I have a chest piece/robe from D2 year 1 Dawning that I wish I could level up with all the perks. Its an elegant piece and with the shader I use, well, I just love it. I put it on for nostalgic sake and was literally destroyed in everything I played except basic farming. Your point is well taken and respected from this Warlock (who also wishes her melee was as it use to be in D1).

4 Antwortenand bring back no land beyond

I‘m already smelling my sword being useless in the next dlc (That’s if I decide to buy it!)
-
1 AntwortenHashtag space hobo 4 life
-
2 AntwortenBut if they don’t make it useless how can they bring it back and call it “new” next year???
-
All my factions 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Im hoping that bs was a stoopid Activision trick and Bungie wont keep doing it now that they ate gone. I completely agree, i have weapons i loved, now, mostly because of the second perk slot, I cant really usr most of them. Also, regardless of what the power bar says, i feel likr anything 'old' does not do as much damage compared to new items..
-
1 AntwortenPretty sure the weapon system won't be changing, just the armor.
-
1 AntwortenThen why make new stuff?
-
3 AntwortenThe only gear changes we're aware of so far is Armor 2.0, so it's possible that weapons will continue as they have been, though maybe more will have seasonal mod slots. Plus, with the additional of seasonal artifacts, it seems like Bungie isn't too concerned about things being "left behind."
-
2 AntwortenPrepare for some disappointment, because with the incoming Armor 2.0 changes, we'll have another case of gear being left behind. It's going to be same thing as having armor and a large set of weapons from Year 1 left in the dust when the new mod system that was added with Forsaken.
