Should games be relying less on microtransaction income, and more on providing quality content that people would be more willing to pay for? How nice would it be if those exotic ghosts shells and sparrows we get were tied to triumphs and feats in the game, and even armour pieces? The gambit weapon ornaments could be tied to gambit triumphs. Legendary ghost shells for gambit, dreaming city, raid etc. exist, but we miss out on the exotic perks that offer significant differences (especially guiding light), and those shells are eververse exclusive. Imagine if the outbreak prime skins were related to hidden secrets or challenging feats in zero-hour. Heck, even Cayde-6’s cloak was reduced to an eververse store item. On the topic of game companies “making enough money”: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/arstechnica.com/gaming/2008/10/fable-2-review/%3famp=1 When Fable 2 launched in 2008, it cost $60 us (at the time was $70 Canadian). I think it had 2 DLC’s that cost from $8-$12 (Canadian) apiece, bringing the total cost of the game up to ~$90 Canadian. Destiny 2 cost $85 Canadian for the game, plus 2 $20 dollar DLC’s, then $45 for Forsaken, then $35-40 for the annual pass (all prices after taxes). Total cost coming to ~$205-210. And that’s before paying for anything from eververse (which I haven’t done). Ps. Remember when the old president of Nintendo took a 50% cut to his annual pay check to keep his employees paid properly? Remember when Activision laid off 400+ people after the company made record breaking income for that year? Just sayin’
