I do at least 20%. good service can get about 40% depending on how it went

Is it really that hard to pay your employees fair wages so their not at the mercy of being tipped or not. Seriously as a kiwi I just don't understand the logic behind it.

My family always leaves a generous tip and stacks all the dishes together at restaurants. We have 10 people in the family (8 kids) and it really helps the waiter since we use so many dishes. But if they make us mad and screw up our orders, we leave it a HUGE mess

1 AntwortenAdult tip: keep your service people happy and your life goes much easier. I routinely tip 20% to drivers when ordering delivery...my stuff is always early, always fresh and in perfect condition. The UPS guy, USPS guy, recycle workers (I have curbside pickup), and garbage guy all get gift cards (sometimes cookies - no molasses, sorry X!) at Christmas. My trash can is always upright, my recycle bins flipped over so they don't fill with rainwater, mail is well-sorted, and I can stop my UPS guy in the neighborhood and he'll get stuff out of the truck for me if I'm out & about. They get paid to do a job, you can add a little incentive for them to provide you a real service.

2 AntwortenWhat’s considered an appropriate tip for things like pizza delivery and grub hub? 20%? More? Less? Its not anything i have to worry about because i live in the sticks, but im just curious. I usually tip 20% at restaurants, barber shop, asian massage parlor ect. for good service.

3 AntwortenI don't doubt you deal with pieces of shit, but don't get salty just because people don't want to tip. You're just coming off as entitled.

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von Kaishi Ritsu: 4/4/2019 2:04:57 PMI don’t dislike the concept of tipping someone for doing a decent job however if money is an issue you should seriously take it up with the employer. You knew what you were getting into working for these places. You knew your pay would be complete shit. It’s up to you to either ask for fair pay or to look for a better job. Never ever blame customers for the fact your paycheck is so small. Tipping is a choice. If you were my server and this is how you acted i wouldn’t tip you. In fact if I handed you more money than what was on the bill I’d ask for my change back. I strongly dislike servers who expect tips. If I tip you it’ll be because you did your job correctly. Most of the servers I met do a half effort job. Rarely do they ever check to make sure your order is correct and rarely do delivery drivers show up in a reasonable amount of time but I do understand most drivers have routes. They don’t just deliver one persons order and go back to the shop. The point is if I’m waiting over an hour for something basic don’t expect a tip because at that point I just wasted over an hour of my day so you could make an extra delivery/sale.

2 AntwortenI did that shit for a few years when I was college age and yeah, it sucks. Folks don't realize how expensive it is to do that job and it is not like you are in a company vehicle either. Your tips are what keep you going, though if you were super nice to me, I was cool if I only got a dollar. I had this one old, old lady that I would deliver to in the hood. She was about 6'4" tall and probably 350 lbs. She scared the hell out of me the first time I delivered there, because she had this double barrel shotgun that was damn near as long as she was tall. She saw me hesitate and she was quick to reassure me, "White boy, this here isn't for you, it is to keep all these boys around here away from my pizza man! You got nothing to worry about, you just up on this here porch and bring my pizza!" She was so awesome, I loved delivering to her! Anyways, she always tipped 25¢. It was a polished quarter and yes, I do mean polished! She would always tell me to take my girlfriend to the movies and buy her a soda, lol. I never had the heart to tell her I could not even get her a gumball for that shiny quarter. For good people, I always made allowances.

1 AntwortenInstead of being mad at the customers you should be mad at your employer. Seeing how they keep the tipping process in check for their own benefit. It’s a practice that most other countries do not use, and it extremely baffles them as to why we do. Tipping is just a bad idea. It doesn’t always just consider the service. Employees should be paid a set amount and that’s it.

7 AntwortenIf ur a pizza delivery person, you do not deserve a huge tip. You literally drive it from point a to point b. Its not hard.

This is why I like living in a country where employers actually pay their employees proper wages so their employees don't have to rely on tips. Tipping should be an optional bonus for good service. Making tipping mandatory defeats the point of tipping.
