Why do Hand Cannons out range my scout?

EDIT: See a lot of players voicing their opinion on this. Didn't think this would hit so many heartstrings.
Don't worry everyone, Bungie wont dare alter your precious 180s. They are honestly in a great spot, balancing consistency with low range and handling.
EDIT 2: Map design does aid the reliability of 180s because many encounters are at or close to their optimal range. If they are not, we have snipers and precision frame shotguns to compensate.
It has almost become second nature for me, a 200 rpm scout user with Recluse up my sleeve, to back off of areas that I know a 180 opponent will be camping. I also stay clear of zones where I'll get a precision frame shotgun through the top of my cranium.
EDIT 3: I am having fun no matter what and I know ill never give any shotgunner ammo from my corps again.

If you took a rifle and a hand gun and fired both at a target 100 yards away, your rifle would have a MUCH higher chance of hitting and damaging the target than a hand gun. Also, the damage from the rifle would be significantly greater. If Bungie made the guns behave similar to real weapons, the hand cannons and sidearms would not be effective much past shotgun range. Auto rifle, HMG, and SMG weapons would be similarly useless unless you were in close due to how difficult it is to keep a fully automatic weapon on target from the continuous recoil. Snipers and scout rifles would be the range kings with snipers doing significantly more damage. The bows would be nearly useless and not the near snipers that they are now. Do you see where I'm going with this? If the weapons behaved like these weapons do in real life, THEY WOULD BE NO FUN TO USE IN A GAME! That's why you think hand cannon can out range/damage a scout rifle. I do agree that scouts deserve more of a buff all around though.

A hand cannon has never out gunned me at range if I use a scout.

If you truly think Hand Cannons out range Scouts your dreaming... Hand Cannons are BETTER in PvP but they don’t put range them. Good luck killing with Hand Cannons at extended range on Equinox, Scouts will rip you to shreds

They don’t. Using a jade or mida in its optimal range will always be outside HC optimal range. Maps are just so small that ever being in optimal mida or jade range is rare at best so it never feels like it.

Meh it's a video game. Not only are the weapon mechanics complete nonsense, there's also no sense of real distance. Could you imagine them trying to build a map that let you run snipers out past 1300 meters? Or smart rockets that had "look down, shoot down" capability? Just roll with it.

I’ve often posted on this before, a Scout is basically a short range Sniper. Hand cannons, shotguns and SMGS should have minimal range especially Shotguns. I’m still befuddled why Dusk rock blues has more range than a scout rifle. ITS a DAMN SHOTGUN!!

Here’s a real world example 50 action express. muzzle velocity of 1400fps & at 50 yards 1209fps that’s with a 300g bullet 7.62x39mm russian. muzzle velocity of 2320fps & at 100 yards 1997fps that’s with a 123g bullet This information was from a magazine called guns & ammo annual 1998 addition and not much has changed since then

Not a single hand cannon outranges any scout. Sounds like you're within range for longer range cannons like ace of spades.

2 AntwortenIf this is a serious post it’s because you’re a [b]Bot[/b]. This is a [b]You[/b] problem. 1)Try not getting into HC range with a Scout for starters. 2)Try strafing. Standing still while you shoot will only result in your virtual death. 3)Stop being so dramatic. HC’s don’t have the range of Scouts.

Hand Cannons don't out range scouts...You're in the range of the hand cannon if you're getting shot at by one. Some have longer ranges than others like Ace of Spades, but Scouts have more range in general.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von AendettV: 4/4/2019 1:46:01 PMIt's the maps. Most of them aren't really good for scouts. That's why pulses and hcs are meta (kinda sorta on pulses now). Remember though at 1 time, the MIDA was the most requested PvP nerf in the game!

Dukes and Aces can shoot you with max damage at very far ranges due to their range stats being in the upper 80s. There aren't many maps where scouts are useful.
