Don't confuse this post with wanting choices to be irrelevant. Choices should mean everything. This post is just a request to make all choices potentially top tier, assuming the player is capable of synergizing the rest of their choices. There should be no such thing as "meta" in any game mode, with few intentional exceptions (like gambit prime armor having bonuses to gambit prime).
-All weapon types should be competitive in both PvP and PvE.
Examples: Swords in PvP are very weak in general, due to short range, long swing time (compared to firing a shotgun), and blocking being mostly useless. Most (with some obvious exceptions) sub-machine guns are underpowered in PvP and PvE. Sidearms are rarely used too. Make every weapon type, and subtype, be a serious choice.
-All exotics (both weapons and armor) should be worthy of slotting.
Examples: Ace of Spades, for example, is simply a top tier item for handcannons. I'm sure this is intentional, along with several others, but you've made most previous exotics useless (or they were already useless). Buff the weak exotics or convert them into legendary, or some "lesser exotic" category that allows for multiple to be equipped. Maybe make the current top tier exotics have some sort of drawback, to make it a conscious decision rather than an obvious best-in-slot. Do whatever is necessary so that all those hours designing/modeling/coding most exotics isn't just a useless waste.
-All supers, all grenades, all class skills should be style over meta.
Examples: Clearly spectral blades is still very strong in PvP, but others are stupidly weak - like the newly "balanced" warlock Nova Warp.
I'm sure you guys have all the stats you need to tweak the numbers in a way that allows for more player choice instead of this meta garbage.

1 AntwortenThere will always be a meta, friend. In any game... anytime. The top will exist and be found no matter what. This is known.
-
23 AntwortenThe problem is this this a loot shooter, there will always be the best guns. I suppose you could make all guns the same, but then what do you grind for?
-
I believe this is what they were going for when they launched D2....everybody cried on the forums about it and now we have D1 v.2.

1 AntwortenAll weapons should perform equally, so I can bring my traveler’s chosen into crucible and stomp on everyone. How dare Bungie reward progression by making certain weapons better than others!!
-
It sounds good but its just not feasable. Unless every weapon functions exactly the same, which ruins progression, grinding, and the point of the game. There will ALWAYS be a meta, thats just the reality of having a diverse pool of weapons and classes. To remove that would ruin Destiny.

Bearbeitet von GalaxySpider: 4/1/2019 4:18:53 PMD2 Vanilla was the most balanced PvP we ever had in Destiny. People didn't liked it and wanted to run around with shotguns again (or special weapons in general). Sooo, here we are...

This might be unrelated but I still cringe at the thought of a primary sniper.

2 AntwortenWell it was balanced at the beginning of the game you know vanilla orginal Destiny 2. Where the weapon system made sense in trying to keep shotguns, sniper rifles, and fusion rifles from being a promaninate factor in the PvP. Supers and abilities were trump cards for damage enhancement in PvP. Nightfalls were fun and the score card set up was fine. Xur sold up to dat and current exotics. The token system was grindy as hell because you had to waste hours collecting them. Gaining power wasn't a chore and easy to do. Collecting exotics were fun because you didn't know what you got once you picked then and could actually collect them. An raids played a part in being milestone reminders saying hey you have nothing left to do why don't you get a team together and work on trying to do the raid. Now it's the complete opposite.

It's impossible to much "stuff" in this game.
-
1 AntwortenSure, how stupid of bungie! They forgot to press the "balance everything" button!
-
My man a team with someone running a sword has a massive advantage in crucible due to the view while moving and being able to make call outs. Also who wants balance... we all want to have that set of bad ass weapons and a few that you pull out for a nightfall or other activity with a burn.

2 AntwortenSwords in PVP is good if you're use it as instrument, not only as weapon. 3rd person view. Swipe to change direction mid-air. Block, even if it's not absolute, sometimes may save your life. As warlock, I also use sword for 3rd person blink and (if I have ammo) for sword skating. Also Black Talon is S-tier heavy in general, cause it's almost only weapon which allows you engage immediately after heavy pickup at CQC to medium ranges. Pick, flick, take a kill. SMGs is not bad. They are not S-tier with some exceptions, it's true. Agreed on sidearms tho. Talking about exotics, Ace is good, but not crucial. Sometimes I use Ace, sometimes I use smth else. It's not like I can play only with Ace. I have to admit that some exotics may be balanced better, but it's question of archetype balance in general. Spectral blades is strong, but other supers are not weak. Some of them kill faster and have more range than blades. Spectral is just easy mode for people who don't want to care about deep game mechanics. I don't wanna say it's good idea, but we have what we have. I personally think spectral must be nerfed a little. But in general I can agree, we need some balance changes.
