Destiny is not for working dads
Your grinding model is just too much. I’ve been you with you guys since the beginning, but I think it’s time to start looking for new things this grinding crap is getting old. I no longer have the time and it seems like it takes even more time now than it ever has just to get things in this game. It’s not fun, it’s just frustrating as hell now I regret wasting all my time on your game. I guess destiny is only for people who can spend 2-3 hours or more a day just to get anywhere

One way I think that a way they could make the game more enjoyable for those with limited time would be to make high end rewards more accessible, such as a power gated raid matchmaker (people don't have to use remember), and reducing the loss impact in comp. This would make it easier to both find games on short notice and find teams to play with as you are more likely to find players willing to help you. I know myself I have left fire teams that aren't that good as only being an average player a short loss streak can waste a day's work playing at a 50% win ratio. I think a way to reward the high skill players could be cosmetic rewards (imagine your Luna's wreathed in flame when magnificent howl is active, or D1 raid ornaments). These cosmetics could be awarded automatically to those who already possess the rewards such as the mountaintop etc. As a recognition of their achievements.

Yeah I’m not gonna waste my time playing stuff I don’t want to do. My son still plus every now and then but they’ve taken all the fun out of the game.

Its tough im not a dad but i do work 40-50 hrs per week and i cant stand how ridiculous the leveling on this game is. The only possible way is to no life the game and pretty much kill yourself which i did for the 1st 3 weeks to reach 700 on all characters. After that i stop playing till now maybe sometime i do but just few hrs just got burned out of how tedious and repetitive this game is for the past 7 months and once you reach max light u wont feel powerful just to compensate what you’ve done just to reach certain level 🙄🤷♂️😒

I completely understand. Try doing what I do and just play on weekends at your own pace, and it should work out fine.

I’m with you. I have limited time to game. Problem with Destiny is if I’m gaming, I want my limited time to be fun. Destiny is a chore. This current add-on is awful. Worst add-on they’ve ever done, alongside Osiris. Haven’t touched this add-on, no desire to. I will play other games (currently digging Division 2) and I’ll be on the lookout for this game if/when it doesn’t suck anymore.

I feel you man. I’m Military married and have a 2 year old. It’s hard to find the time. Weekends I try to make the best of it I can once I put the kid down. Just need to find a group that will help you and buckle down to get things done. That and pray to the RNG gods of course offering them whatever enhancement cores you have.

6 AntwortenI feel you. Same here. I played multiple hours today and for what? Nothing but 4 cores. 2 that I bought 1 from dismantling a weapon 1 from a scrapper bounty. About the only reason I log in is to visit Spider and get bent over a f$&@$& hard. Cores are THE grind. And to get a just a couple a day is becoming not worth it.

2 hours a day isn't much if you want to keep up to date with a game...you also don't even have to put that much time in with the content being the way it is right now id say you could play 6 hours a week or slightly less to keep up with the game. yes, you won't be able to get everything which should be ok that's just how games and life work. ex. if I don't put the time in to study for a test I shouldn't expect an A.

I'm not a dad, but I'm in college and I can confirm that during school, I only have time to play on one character, Titan of course. I think the seasonal increases in power level are what really makes it seem like you're falling behind, I was at 650 on two characters but now I'm at about 680 after the increase (I'm on spring break right now so I was able to grind a bit more). I haven't been doing all the powerful gear milestones, usually just the daily ones and playing crucible. I could probably be at 700 if I cared that much, but I haven't felt like grinding out nightfalls and gambit prime.

5 AntwortenI agree. D1 wasn't this bad. Crucible was more fun because I could grab an auto and do OK and have fun. Quests didn't force you to play content you don't find fun. The rewards were better. And the grind was enough to keep you going, but didn't take over your life...

1 AntwortenDitto! Dad here too and I feel ya. Thing that really pisses me off is the lack of matchmaking and the story content behind raids. Would love to see D3 more of like a RPG with FPS mechanics... but whatever I guess. Still enjoy messing around with new weapons tho.

I know a few parents that work, do stuff with their young kids and don’t get a lot of time to play (I don’t have kids). They don’t have a lot of time because they’re spending time with their young kids and their partner doing family things. Good on them. If you have older kids I could understand why you’d have more time to play. There’s plenty of ways they could make this game more friendly to all sorts of players, but instead they just pound out the grind grind grind.

I jumped on Destiny 1 for a while last night and in my inventory I had strike keys , remember those ? , this is what we need brought back to D2 , it would really help those trying to get specific weapons for seals and would also just feel rewarding generally, it would give me a reason to play.

I only play a few hours each day on Saturday and Sunday, and I am almost max level with 2 of the pinnacle weapons. You have to play a ton if you want that in the first week or two.

I feel you mate i used to be able to grind three characters when i was levelling up before but i just cant do it no more, I have a hunter at 700 so the other characters are slowly getting there now. I am not salty about it though, It also depends what your goals are? my goal used to be levelling up all three characters as soon as possible but once i realised that it was not going to happen any more i had to accept it. I think the problem with the grind is not how long it takes to level up, If a 50 hour game takes 50 hours to complete than that's how long it takes and i am sorry but if the levelling takes 50 hours than thats how long you need to put into it. they never said it was going to be quick. The problem with the game is how you level up. having to do pretty much the same grind to level up all year is just so horrible and than you have to contend with drops that that dont help you at all which shows it is not respecting players time. If you have to do 50 hours to get to max level that is fine as long as if i jump on for 1-2 hours i feel rewarded.

I don't have kids but I can partially understand where he's coming from. Getting your light up is easy enough and can be done with very minimal time needed. If you want anything more than light though good luck. You want gambit prime weapons? Enjoy hours of grinding just to most likely end up with trash rolls or bad curated drops. Same applies to gambit prime armor sets. You can't even choose which slot, can't re-roll stats and you certainly can't choose perks. Nothing about this game respects your time n effort outside of pinnacle weapons. Everything else is a horrible slot machine that shits on you.

Grinding the same crap every week is what’s painful for me. That and the fact that I had less than 5 friends on all weekend; Saturday night I was literally the only one playing d2. You don’t need to run all three toons. I’ve been using my hunter primarily this season. When I’m done with him, I’ll move on to the other two just to have something to do.

The game can be played at any pace. I quit raiding because of the time involved to set up a decent team is longer than the actual raids. I've still managed to keep up on power level an most exotics.

Yeah. D1 TTK was a fairly entertaining grind. I would play a couple of hours every day(in place of watching tv) and felt rewarded by the occasional armor with high stats or gun with great perks, and I would consistently be around 295-300 light. The whole April update and SIVA dlc were nice because I could go after high level gear while doing fun things and could choose between weapons or armor. The whole D2 milestone thing is just tedious. You do all these stupid things to get one drop and if it isn't what you need, then tough shit. In D1(y3) if you needed a ghost you'd just play Archon's Forge until one dropped that would up you, then hit crucible to get weapons, then choose armor for your Vanguard/Faction packages, etc. Anyway, D2 is an inferior Destiny franchise game and always has been. The momentum they gained from Forsaken has been completely negated by the lack of anything worthwhile since then and the empty grind.

The ones with time asks for more things to do and can't see what you are on about and the other way around. Maybe try some other game out? Or don't focus so much on the "have to do" and just play at your own pace? If you play more than one characters maybe just focus on one favorite? If you're not getting what you feel is worth it and not having fun I'd say you're better off with trying some other game out, it's not worth it if you're not having fun. =) I personally aint in any rush regarding anything in this game (lost that "hunt" with the release of D2), but I understand the problem if you really want to be there early with powerleveling for a raid or doing a quest in pvp. I don't see a problem with people speaking their mind though so I cannot see a reason to such hostile replys.

I agree....and will add it’s just not mentally healthy for anyone to grind / spend so much time in the manner this video game encourages the player to do....even for those that like it or don’t realize it. Addiction is not good. There seems to be a lot of serious time spent during development to ensure the player will most likely have to monotonously grind at some point. D1 had grind, but D2 perfected it.....starting with how a player levels three different characters. I mean holy smokes man....one player just about has to play as if he’s three players....SMH....that’s Krazy (crazy) with a K! Straight up nuts! 🥜🐿 You feel sick about it because you should. Don’t sweat the haters....they just don’t get it yet. I hope Bungie moves forward on their own with focus on creativity and not creative grind. Thanks for your post 👍

Even when you have times when you can dedicate 8 hours a day to playing just cause you can, it's not any better or less stressful than now when my last login is March 15th (I think that's maybe the date?) I have more Enhancment Cores than ever before, but won't even use them cause "progress" means nothing in such a state of a game. I got my "solution" for running out of cores. More needless problems making the original problems less significant, but unresolved like always.

I agree a hundred percent. Theres allot out there that I won't get. But at the end of the day it's not that interesting to me anymore. I already did the grind for everything in d1. It isn't compelling to get it all again. Yeah theres "new" stuff to get but it's all the same after awhile.
