Hey all,
In today's TWAB, we brought some info from the team concerning Enhancement Cores, their role in Destiny 2, and what plans we're looking at for the future. If you haven't read through, I've quoted the information below. Please sound off with your thoughts and feedback!
Strengthen Your Core
As you make progress in Season of the Drifter, you’ll be making choices about which weapons and armor you want to power up first. We’ve been following the conversation around the use of Enhancement Cores for infusion. As a response, the Destiny Dev Team have some changes lined up that they want to share.
Destiny Dev Team: The goal of the infusion system is to create an impactful feeling of progression when you increase the Power of an item you enjoy using. An infusion system with no scarcity around the materials would diminish this impact. To that end, we tapped into a material with inherent scarceness, Enhancement Cores, to use as one of the keystone materials for this process.
That is the goal the infusion system, but if the overall system is causing a negative experience, we want to work to improve it. We’re constantly monitoring the infusion economy to see what kind of impact it has on gear usage. We keep a close eye on the amount of infusion materials being earned versus how many are being used and will continue to make adjustments as needed.
To that end, we’ll be making a change in Season of Opulence with the goal of providing more access to Enhancement Cores.
Scrapper Bounties previously dropped randomly when dismantling gear. There was no reliable way to earn Enhancement Cores using these bounties, and we didn’t feel they were providing enough materials. We will be deprecating these bounties at the start of Season 7. (Note that any unfinished Scrapper Bounties still in your inventory when the new season begins can still be completed before their natural expiration.) In their place, the Gunsmith will now offer a selection of daily and weekly bounties that can be purchased for Gunsmith Materials. As with the Scrapper Bounties, each of these will include, among other things, an Enhancement Core as a reward when completed.
Our hope is that this increased access and control over Enhancement Core acquisition will help improve the balance of materials being earned vs. materials being used. As always, we’ll be continuously monitoring this item economy, along with your feedback to assess its effectiveness.

What with Improved consistency of Handheld Supernova. What changes?

29 AntwortenSo, I tried a little experiment. I have infused most +3s that I received on all my characters from 650 to 700. For those of you who still don’t understand how gear leveling works, +3 is considered very wasteful. After doing so, I reached level 700 and it cost me ~150 cores. However, during that process, I received ~75 cores, which netted a loss of ~75 cores. In the 2-3 weeks since reaching 700, I have well surpassed my original amount of cores. What this tells me is, even if you are wasteful, you shouldn’t be core strapped. Also, I bottomed out on some of my materials, while infusing, which tells me that if cores were more easily obtained, people will definitely cry about materials AND glimmer next.

6 AntwortenHow about looking at a use for Baryon Boughs? Spider doesn’t want them? Must be the most worthless resource in the universe. On the same page as rocks or dirt.
-
15 AntwortenHow about adding Enhancement Core drops with successful completion of HEROIC public events?
-
Reduce the cost to only 1 for infusion and 10 for a fully upgraded masterwork.
-
So the discussion you guys had was... “how do we get these people to buy into this progression system?” Did it go any better this time than the last time?
-
2 AntwortenI think if the infusion system went back to d1 before taken king then enhancement cores would be true to their name. And only the highest gear dropped from nightfalls ironbanner raids and crucible and gambit level ups. But you would still have to level the weapon by playing with it so if the player wanted to increase the level with their cores, then it would actually be IMPACTFUL.

88 AntwortenIm a 46 year old dad of 3. I work a 12 hour swing shift. Im a casual player and ive reached 700 and masterworked most of my favorite gear.

18 AntwortenBearbeitet von Spyder_Z_Prime: 3/28/2019 8:28:22 PMNevermind. Keep cores in the game. Hell, up the price for one infusion on all fronts! 50 cores per infusion, $50K glimmer, 500 shards, you do you Bungie! Cause in a few months I’ll be over here doing me. 👻 https://youtu.be/x4o5g_PGkiA We had some fun times. Sincerely, thank you for those. But I’m always gonna miss what this game could’ve been. 🤘🙂

5 AntwortenThanks for removing those threads. The forums were becoming a big borefest with a bunch of jerks in a circle if you know what I mean
-
So, instead of creating more content (which I get is not an easy task) Bungie will be artificially extending gameplay with chores, thereby “impacting” your game time and ability to play endgame content with gear you like... Got it. Am I missing anything? 🤔 PS. Please just drop cores for infusion. I seriously HATE it. I got so much cool gear I want to take with me into Reckoning and such but I’ve already spent enough time grinding mats, glimmer, and shards. Cores are just a bitch on top of all that. 😑

15 AntwortenHahaha the players begging for removal on cores must be going into meltdown reading this. Good stuff bungo, you didn't give into their screams this time. 👍👍
-
3 AntwortenAdditional bump. With 3300+ comments all basically saying the same thing I'm hoping we get some kind of further response from bungie on this. They said what changes they want to make, we said no, now the ball is in their court.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Talia Sendua: 4/9/2019 6:36:57 AMWe need new ADDITIONAL sources for them. Right now my titan is 697 and I could be easily 700 but I have not enough cores. I have not enough materials. I have not enough shards... I can't grind for all three of those currencies at the same time. Either remove infusion cores or give us them as constant as legendary marks in D1

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Verke0: 4/9/2019 7:24:18 AMI just got my first character to power level 700 and earned in the proces over 40 cores! Plz dont listen to these populist crybabies. Find a middle road! Edit: the best fix imo would be to go forward with your plans, but dont remove the scrapper bounties. Instead make them vary in quality and difficulty. An exotic could drop a legendary or exotic scrapper bounty ir something like that.

Bungle is flexing again... Blocking all remove core threads and putting this one back up...

No words needed 👎🏾

Bearbeitet von IcyHorizons: 4/9/2019 5:45:59 AMI feel as though you guys don't listen to us players whatsoever, yes enchantment cores are supposed to be as you so call them "A decision making tool" for infusing items, however this is simply wrong because no one values enchantment cores over weapons or powerful gear, we want to be able to infuse our armor, but making it worth enchantment cores? We're not using them to masterwork our armor so what's the point in having them for armor infusion? Weapons follows the same basis but we're actually masterworking our weapons to gain the extra bonus they give, but with having to masterwork weapons, infusion for both weapons and armor, there's simply no way that it is even achievable because we run out of cores as we're playing the game getting better gear.
-
Nobody likes the core system. It's not a feature and it's not a reward. Some players tolerate it, because they used exploits to amass a ton of cores. They don't mind the system, because it doesn't hurt them, like it was designed to. Everyone else hates it. Using cores for masterworking is fine. Now, that's a reward. I don't mind grinding for cores to get a "pinnacle" type weapon. Grinding just to infuse.....the same loot multiple times? Uh, no. That's not a good thing and a waste of my time. The ways to acquire cores are terrible. Making me do a lost sector or a Wanted bounty is a HORRIBLE application of my time just to get a single core. I won't do it.
-
Just remove them. Keep for masterwork remove for infusion. Don't worry ppl will still have other reasons to grind. Unnecessary tactic to slow player progression.
-
Why'd Bungie remove this topic - realizes that this question is rhetorical and that answer is obvious, Bungie is scared of this topic, and the overall response to this thread didn't go quit the way they hoped it would.
-
Here are my thoughts on the issue. Basically, Cored do nothing impactful. The perks on weapons and armor are perceptively useless. They are so weak and their purpose so ambiguous they might as well not exist. Check out this Bungie.net forum topic https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/251666247/0/0

1 AntwortenJust a thought, but what if we got cross class infusion back, and THAT required cores. Infusing within the same class doesn't cost cores, but if you can't get a max level bond, but have extra max marks, chuck one over and spend 15 cores to infuse it. Yes? No? That'd be a nice little compromise, I think.
-
yes, this topic should stay on top.
-
Power to the people.
-
yeah..... yalll (bungie) can think this just might go away, but people have been increasingly clear about this. i mean aside from fixing matchmaking in crucible, and making pve worth doing again enhancment core are gonna remain a big issue
