Keep D2 PvP alive

Up vote if you value PvP in destiny 2 and would like to see bungie continue to put resources toward it. No specific feedback here. The point is just to hopefully show PvP is valued by a large part of the community. I play all the D2 content and have all 3 classes and enjoy it all, but PvP is what keeps D2 alive for me.

  • my PvP wish list from a professionally mediocre player. 1. give us more playlist options. (No-Perk game mode, No exotic limit, normalized, 2v2, big team 12v12, etc...) 2. make a "lone wolf" option for the solo-queue player in both comp and quickplay. 3. dedicated servers would be nice 4. offer better rewards. idk, maybe you could get those "improved" perks on armor drops in PvP? maybe? 5. better, more randomized spawns? 6. something similar to a public event, but in PvP. think of it as something similar to the meatball in Gambit, just rare enough that its not every game but often enough that people are interested and excited. Random thoughts of a former no lifer from D1.

    • Personally I think the biggest problem is that pvp is dictating a lot of the decisions around destiny atm. I do understand striking while the iron is hot cod did it with blackout, titanfall with apex legends etc, but unfortunately bungie have a bad habit of turning their back on one side for another. If the balance between both pvp and pve can be met then it would be ok but it seems like it will take a while to get that.

      • The next large dlc we get should come with lots of new things for Crucible. Such as a 3v3 playlist that Scales with Glory in addition to normal Competive. Just as Valor rank has one or two random Crucible modes you can play each week instead of Quickplay, Competive should have that too for people who don't want to worry about being forced into a game mode their not good at. If I could select Countdown instead of it being random, then I'd have Luna already.

        Destiny Tracker https://destinytracker.com/ currently shows 480.5K Crucible Players Yesterday 606.3K PvE Players Yesterday I am guessing that the vast bulk of PVP players also play PVE content, even at max LS, given that they still have to gather basic resources (shards, gun-smith parts, cores, materials, glimmer, etc.) and location-specific gear. This suggests that 79.2% of players do both PVP and PVE (~4 out of every 5), which is a sizable chunk over those that never touch the crucible. Many of those dual PVP+PVE players never post here, so they are the active but silent majority. As a result, Bungie knows that it risks losing about 80% of its player base by neglecting or deleting PVP, so it is doubtful that they will take a suicide pill to satisfy the vocal 20%. Downvote this if it makes you feel better, but the numbers speak for themselves.

        • I play pvp non stop I have only done 1 raid and few times for weapons but I have full flawless gear for 2 characters 600 hours + in just crucible we need a dlc that is surrounded around pvp

          • I agree. But when I say I want to see it get more love from the devs I say it in a it gets all the fixes it needs first. A good bit more balancing is needed and we need MORE MAPS. Especially bigger more open maps that are not CQC focused. We need more variety in map styles even more than we need shotgun or hand cannon nerfs. lol. Then I would love for Crucible to FINALLY have an end game experience of it's own. Iron Banner is a shell of it's Destiny 1 self and Trials of the Nine/Trials of Osiris is long forgotten. Except for the pinnacle weapons I have nothing to look forward to except the occasional jump into quickplay to have fun with my buddies. And Iron Banner to complete the bounties, get nothing new, and go back to quickplay because Iron Banner isn't really worth it after the bounties are done. I would love Iron Banner to mean something and maybe to have a version of Trials with matchmaking that's actually enjoyable. And why can't we have maps built to suit a new game mode like say... the classic Capture the Flag? But anyways yeah Crucible needs some attention. Especially for a player like me who basically never plays PvE unless I have too. And I've only tried a raid ONE TIME. lol. Please do something Bungie!

          • Personally i live for the pvp in destiny 2. and i mostly QP all day long, with different setups / builds every game. im not bothered by shotties, easy to counter, im not bothered by Lunas/NFs also easy to deal with, even tho i own lunas myself, i hardly every use it. i find that the people complaining about weapons are the same people that mindlessly run around, not controlling their environments. not "planning" their pushes and doesnt know the strengths and ranges of each weapon type... heck i see alot of people even not taking advantage of kill klip, memento mori etc etc and get shocked when they get 3 tapped by a luna/nf, even tho Ace and many other weps can do the same with the right rolls.. one of my favourites is a Duke / better devils with kill clip or rampage.. i do think the Recluse alongside the shotty changes will change things up abit for the poeple that cant manage to deal with it. this became a much bigger post that i was planning too! But i agree i hope they keep the pvp alive, so i can keep on slaying other guardians! Some new maps would be nice tho.. And really looking forward to the new season.

            • I bet they probably look at the numbers to determine whether or not to pour resources into it. And if you look at the numbers, they are very low. And I am not talking about the tracker numbers. Bungie knows who exactly is playing this game and that's who they will cater to. Give how PvP basically got nothing this next season, they don't see you guys as the future.

              • PvP is garbage. I want to use scout rifles, auto rifles, smg, nade launchers,etc. Nope hand cannon/ shotgun that's all we are going to do here at bungie. We prefer to weed out our player base. It's to difficult to manage millions of players so we want all but 200k to quit then we can handle the work load. At that point everyone left must like hand cannons so we can just keep re hashing out the old ones. Minimal effort maximum profit.

                • I'd actually love a crucible focused season or DLC. But Bungie would have to remove or rework pinnacle weapons, they're too OP and demoralising VS the average player. The best PvP weapons being limited to the best PvP players was a huge mistake, all the high end rewards should have been cosmetic only. PvP is only competitive and fair if you have an even playing field (or as even as you can reasonably make it). But that probably won't change, so even if they did release that kind of content it would be a disaster because the average player would hate it. Which is sad because the crucible has a lot of potential.

                • I watched CammyCakes vid and I don't PvP, but I enjoy his content, so I will upvote. Despite the impact of PvP on PvE I will admit that it is the PvP crowd that kept this game alive during the lull Give them some love Bungie

                • The whole D2 was built based on PVP balance. That's why D2 sucks. All exotics are watered down etc. People buy this game for PVE ...not PVP. PVP is cheaper to make and maintain than PVE. Just make the maps then let the player fight each other. But..It just a dessert not the main entree. PVP may make player keep playing during the PVE drought content. But Bungie only make money when they sell the content not when the customer play. Unless Destiny is a monthly pay game.

                      • PvP should be optional. In D1 it was semi optional. In D2 it's hardly optional unless you aren't already bored by the countless strike completions and raid completions. I mean, people seem to still care about the raids and the efficient ways to complete it and more power to them I suppose. It just feels like PVP has to exist so somebody has a reason to stay even if it is bad.

                            • How about we stop clan stomping the solo que'ers? Fixing the overuse of Titan-melee? Fixing oneshotkilling apes running at the speed of light with their ridiculous shotguns? Nerfing certain supers, while keeping really powerful ones untouched? Matchmaking is shit. Balancing is shit. Rewards are shit. No. This gamemode doesn't deserve to be alive, like it is right now. It should die and only come back when some people have finally looked into why this gamemode has become so cancerous and annoying to play.

                              • make luna and not forgotten earn able like the redrix like you earn the redrix then do the same again to earn the luna then do something to earn the not forgotten, ow and make all handcannons on console more consistent a.k.a -blam!- bloom off of all handcannons... right now pc is in a good place.

                                • 403 k PvP players according to destiny tracker for yesterday. PVE was at 603 k players. Let PVP die. The current meta of dust rock blues, Lunas or NF and ward cliff coil is annoying as -blam!-. Quickplay is a shit show at best. Casual players are leaving PVP because its just not fun. That and other games are coming out. PVP needs to be put back to the way it was. As it is now it can enjoy its diminishing player base.
