The Warmind Rasputin and his cyclic voice
Hey all,
I am very very late to the party. I recently just finished the Warmind campaign and I loved it. Especially when you finally meet Rasputin. What completely awestruck me was his resounding voice. As a sound designer, his voice completely impressed me. I was so moved to basically find the voice file on the internet that someone had extracted and I just had it for myself to play with in Ableton.
What I was trying to do per suggestion of some friends is that they wanted to hear Rasputin's reversed sound so they could translate it. So I opened the file up in Ableton to begin working on clearing up the sound and making the voice as clear as possible.
Here's the thing. I just took the file and reversed it just to hear it. I've been playing it all morning but 20 minutes later I noticed something while playing the original audio reversed. I noticed that Rasputin said "Ya Rasputin" again, [i]while the original audio was reversed.[/i]
If you listen to the Warmind end scene, he only says "Ya Rasputin" [i]once[/i]. And it's further set in concrete because the translation Ana provided in the last cutscene only mentions Rasputin saying "Ya Rasputin" only once:

But, when you reverse the original audio, he says "Ya Rasputin" twice. I've looked around and "Ya Rasputin" means "I am Rasputin" from the Russian translation.
While the audio is playing normally, there are two instances of where he says "Ya Rasputin".
One time he says it normally. The other time he says it reversed.
In the picture attached I have made this image in Ableton to try to explain what I have heard.

Now, I do not know Russian whatsoever. So I don't know what Rasputin is saying. BUT, I've learned and shown that he says "Ya Rasputin" twice in the same cutscene.
Now this is just wild speculation from me, but I believe that Rasputin is somehow talking in circles. He's talking in circles in such a way that he's doing while talking in a reversed voice and a "normal" voice.
These are questions I have for you: What other information has been obtained about Rasputin's voice line? What is he actually saying? What does it mean for Rasputin to mention that "he is Rasputin" twice? I know that Ana gave us a loose translation but that's not what Rasputin is actually saying. I am missing a lot of information. Why is he talking in reverse and the "reverse of the reverse"? Why is his voice pattern like this? How do you show that he is in fact talking in circles if he is?

I honestly feel like the two tracks were overlaped to provide emphasis on that one line. It was the most ominous, impactful, and easiest to understand, 'dialog' from Rasputen. After that it is just Ana running her mouth over him.

Awesome post! On a less serious note; maybe it wasn’t straight-forwards but actually backwards, and Rasputin is actually the Fonz.

With Rasputin speaking you just need to listen to some old "Ive got the Power" by SNAP.

Rasputin makes himself sound like a badass. I only wish he would appear as he was originally intended. As an exo hunter (which was replace by cayde).

However, lore-wise, Rasputin is saying the same "Ya Rasputin" twice (once reversed and once normal) in the same speech. He could be just talking in circles or like the article says, the fact that he's stating he's Rasputin twice could mean the computer is "glitching" out in his speech patterns like the "hanging" sound effects seem to try to convey. It's so weird because the destinylore.com page on Rasputin says some weird things that don't make sense to me. But I took away noise and increased frequencies that might help identify voice easier. Then I slowed time down to make it sound slower. If only I knew Russian. Do any of you have any Russian friends that can help translate this? I know there are versions out there that have everything reversed but they have not taken some of the effects out. This is the cleanest I could get it to be for now. Notice that he says "Ya Rasputin", I reversed both the audios so they're there in the clip maybe some Russians can give more insight into what he's saying because it's not cool for him to say he's Rasputin twice and then have the game basically tell us this speech via Ana. If you were to "restructure" while reordering the lines of the original speech "backwards", it still keeps the same meaning. Normal speech transcript: [i]"The Bray family shaped me to be an all-seeing savior…while your Vanguard sought to wield me as a primitive weapon. But today, that ends, and I define the reality of my own existence. My sight will stretch to the edge of this system and beyond. Never again will a threat go unseen. From this day forward, I will defend humanity on my own terms. I am Rasputin. Guardian of all I survey. I have no equal. "[/i] Me, reversing the words from end to beginning and restructuring the speech: [i]"I am Rasputin. Guardian of all I survey. I have no equal. From this day forward, I will defend humanity on my own terms. Never again will a threat go unseen. My sight will stretch to the edge of this system and beyond. While your Vanguard sought to wield me as a primitive weapon. The Bray family shaped me to be an all-seering savior… But today, that ends, and I define the reality of my own existence."[/i] I'm not sure if this is what's happening in the audio (and I don't think it's happening). Gosh if only I knew Russian. But logically, if I reverse the audio then I should be hearing the speech start from the end to go on to the beginning. Meaning that Rasputin begins with the lines "I am Rasputin. Guardian of all I survey...". It makes sense to me idk if this is something that anyone was noticed. His speech is mirrored to me.
