I hate the elitism with the Raids
Look, I get that you want to get things done, but is that really an excuse to exclude and be a d*ck to the less experienced people who are trying to do the raid also?
After going over a month of no online play because of a hurricane, I finally managed to get back and play again. I wanted to play Last Wish and finally get through the raid, but every time I explained my situation, I was immediately shut down. I attempted joining at least 20 groups, all essentially telling me the same thing: “We don’t want inexperienced players, go bother someone else.” The only somewhat nice response was “We’ll let you join, but we will have to kick you out once we find someone more experienced.” (I’m not joking, that was the exact response I got from someone).
And I know what you’re going to say, “Make your own group and stop complaining.” This is where I kindly tell you to shove it.
You don’t think I tried that? It’s the same thing no matter what. I try joining a group, they want experienced players. I try making a group, they still want experienced players.
TL;DR: It doesn’t hurt to help out some people and teach them how to do a raid. Guides on YouTube don’t cover everything, and some things are better learned with hands on experience. Plus you aren’t always going to find someone with 100+ completions. So quit being a d*ck and just help people.

Just clearing some things up.
1). I am not saying everyone who completed a raid is an elitist and a d*ck.
2). Look, maybe I did rub off the wrong way, but what I said is what I think. The elitism needs to stop. It really doesn’t hurt to take a couple minutes before each encounter starts to give a quick rundown of what is going to happen. Like I said, a video doesn’t explain an encounter as well as hands on experience.
3). To the people saying that they are constantly finding helpful groups and all that: What’s your secret? How are you this lucky? I just have really bad luck with this kind of thing then.

I know you sort of mentioned this but what I never understand about these posts is that you can easily make an LFG yourself, get a group and get it done. Something like: Last Wish, Fresh Run, All Experience Levels Welcome!! 590+ Surely there are a lot of people like you who still haven't done the raid who would flock to a post like this. The problem people face is they try and join a group of people who are experienced. At this point people don't want to have to explain everything before every encounter. I'm not saying people couldn't be nicer but if someone is looking for a quick run it's understandable that they might not want someone who has no experience in the raid.

1 AntwortenI don't get it. There are always so many whining posts like this. You would think all the whiners would group up and struggle through the raid while you learn (just like my group did week 1). Is it because you feel you have to be carried? Is it because you don't want to take the time to LEARN the mechanics with a group that hasn't done it before? Why not just do a search for all of the other whining posts like yours, contact those people, and set up a date where you can all struggle through the raid together (like us 'elitists' did week 1).

There are far worse things than elitism. I am in an awesome clan now and most of the D1 clans I raised with were super awesome. Some clans I joined were pure racist or had 100s of members and their not 6 buddies raided with eachother.... I am not a big fan of Bungo but this thing is down to the community. Good people move on to other games and everyone spends less time on this game so once they are done with bounties, triumphs they are done. Tell me, 6 people won't raid forever would they? It will be boring. Sherpas used to help in D1 but now once the triumphs are done the game has reached its logical conclusion. The end for everyone. Oh yeah, Destiny is now a lifestyle game which you play with your buddies and it's not going to be easy for people who don't have real friends to play it with.

I just grinded to 556 which is 6 levels above recommended and I found a team rather quickly. Basically you can’t be entitled to a raid clear. You need to learn the raid and not waste the time of those carrying you.

use the100.io and create a Sherpa requested game might take a try or 2 but usually one of the sherpas is up for helping. If you were on XB1 I would be down to assist.

Even though I love Sherpaing people through raids Destiny 2 has always been one of those games where if you weren't geared up with the best of the best then its incredibly difficult to survive or keep up with other raid members. Destiny 1 on the other hand was easier for players to ease into encounters and teaching them was much more fluid. This was primarily due to how "Power Weapons" were varied and a player could get some pretty great stuff from vendors. For example in WOTM a new player could easily be set up just from buying the 1000 Yard Stare from the Vanguard and A Palindrome from Shaxx being able to keep up with the team and contribute to DPS on Vosik and Aksis and you didnt even need those weapons in particular you could easily run any other Primary, Special or Heavy and do just fine. Last Wish in comparison is tough to teach as not every player can understand plates or symbols that and the DPS encounters rely on Specific loadouts. For example the general consensus is that players should either have an IKELOS Shotgun or Badlander with Full Auto and a Sleeper Simulant before even starting to raid (And Cluster Rocket too if you do one phase Riven although players can easily just run Thunderlord or Rat King for this encounter.) Personally my stance on it has always been to just use whatever feels "Powerful" but is not necessarily the best. Right now my raid Loadout is Perfect Paradox, Nation Of Beasts (Curated) and Either Tractor Cannon, Thunderlord or Sleeper in the heavy slot. I feel come Black Armory and Jokers Wild Last Wish will be easier to teach as new strategies and weapons will make the raid more easier on new players. It's the same as what happened with Leviathan and I still run people who hopped in during Forsaken through it so they can snag themselves some of the top tier weapons still being used in Destiny's PvE and PvP spaces today. Ultimately Sherpaing has taken a nosedive because of the differences in Combat D2 Brought to the table but in time like every other raid the Sherpa community will find ways to teach and learn new things themselves.

While yes, being proactive is the only reliable solution. Be the change you want to see and all that. It's really unfortunate that bungie refuses to make group making effortless in a game about being in groups all because of dumb clan crap.

I always thought it was annoying in D1, but in D2 it's literally like a plague. It's simply because the raids a shit. Overly complicated, and when you have a raid mechanic that requires each individual to do something different all at the same time - you get a lot of people that aren't that good causing wipes. I have played with a group that played together all the time, and we ran through without a wipe and everything went very fast. I've also been in a group where there is at least 1-2 people who can't figure out doors, who can't figure out which plate is theirs. With those teams you won't beat the 1st encounter so after 20 wipes people start to leave. In CE i could solo most of the raid, so pulling through new people or people who weren't that good was not that difficult. In this raid it's literally impossible, If you cannot pull your own weight you won't beat the raid. Destiny creating overly complex raids that have each individual player doing something different is what has caused this intense elitist attitude towards the raid. I hope this next raid goes back towards the style of D1 raids. Would also LOVEEEEE for prison of elders to return. That was honestly my favorite activity outside of the WOTM raid.

1 AntwortenAs someone who hasn't done Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, or Last wish I know I'm capable of finding a party with very little trouble because I know there are plenty of other partys willing to invite others with little exp, partys willing to reconsider if you list past raid experience, or I can just make my own. You're not trying hard enough, and if you are then you have no reason to complain.

*sigh* Ok, having read multiple posts about "Raid Elitism" (There's always one) Here's my thoughts: First off- nobody is obligated to hold your hand and help you. You may have found a few generous Guardians or Sherpas who were willing to run you through, maybe carry you... But the ones who repeat that experience more than a few times are a rarity. When you know what to do; and if you raid more and you will understand; Teaching someone with no experience is both difficult, and beyond frustrating. Explaining the door mechanic in the first encounter of Last Wish Alone, is almost pure AIDS, especially if the person cannot seem to get the "read the doors the way you read a book" strategy. I ran noobs through Leviathan maybe once- That was enough for me, and no one on that team was carried... If someone asked for an easy mechanic to be responsible for- SURPRISE YOU GET THE "HARDEST" MECHANIC! Pain... Advice: Find people who are motivated, inexperienced, want to complete the Raid, and go in blind ALL together [quote]You don’t think I tried that? It’s the same thing no matter what. This post does not raise your stock in the noob-raider department at all. I know its demoralizing to be rejected for a Raid team, but look at this way: once you do get that first completion... You will be experienced, so keep looking Guardian. And don't get discouraged to the point that you give "dick" Raiders forum ammunition.

Any one with half a brain cell can get a riven kill right now. If your looking for a full run doing everything legit I would recommend not using any lfg website since the majority of those people want to skip to riven and cluster cheese her. Join a clan and inquire about a legit last wish run.

I have 1 SOS clear and I did it with all new people, but you don't get credit for sherpa runs on your first clear. I have 6 EOW clears and have sherpa'd 6. I have 49 leviathan clears and have sherpa'd 24. I would appreciate not being lumped in and called a d*ck based on your anecdotal experience. I help when I have the time, and don't, when i don't. It's my decision, not yours. If you came across more humble and were on my platform, I might have offered, but unfortunately for you, I now think you a whiny, entitled little kid. So congratulations, your post did nothing but alienate you from a potential raid helper. Congratulations. My advice? Realize that nobody owes you anything, even if you were a victim of a hurricane. Sorry but that's the real world. You don't decide how people should value their time. Also, you aren't helping yourself by insulting the entire community. You can't assume your 20ish attempts s at lfg are representative of the entire community.

There's plenty of groups running the raids. I don't see how you haven't found one accepting one non-experienced player. Each of these types of topics pull out dozens of people having the same problem getting a group together, but they can't seem to organize themselves in a group.
