Look, I get that you want to get things done, but is that really an excuse to exclude and be a d*ck to the less experienced people who are trying to do the raid also?
After going over a month of no online play because of a hurricane, I finally managed to get back and play again. I wanted to play Last Wish and finally get through the raid, but every time I explained my situation, I was immediately shut down. I attempted joining at least 20 groups, all essentially telling me the same thing: “We don’t want inexperienced players, go bother someone else.” The only somewhat nice response was “We’ll let you join, but we will have to kick you out once we find someone more experienced.” (I’m not joking, that was the exact response I got from someone).
And I know what you’re going to say, “Make your own group and stop complaining.” This is where I kindly tell you to shove it.
You don’t think I tried that? It’s the same thing no matter what. I try joining a group, they want experienced players. I try making a group, they still want experienced players.
TL;DR: It doesn’t hurt to help out some people and teach them how to do a raid. Guides on YouTube don’t cover everything, and some things are better learned with hands on experience. Plus you aren’t always going to find someone with 100+ completions. So quit being a d*ck and just help people.
Edit:
Just clearing some things up.
1). I am not saying everyone who completed a raid is an elitist and a d*ck.
2). Look, maybe I did rub off the wrong way, but what I said is what I think. The elitism needs to stop. It really doesn’t hurt to take a couple minutes before each encounter starts to give a quick rundown of what is going to happen. Like I said, a video doesn’t explain an encounter as well as hands on experience.
3). To the people saying that they are constantly finding helpful groups and all that: What’s your secret? How are you this lucky? I just have really bad luck with this kind of thing then.

4 AntwortenMy friends and I once took our buddy through riven on his 440 Hunter. Didn't even cluster bomb. It's very easy to carry 1 or even 2 people through every encounter if they are moderately competent at clearing thrall and following directions. You've found the bad teams

Idk how people have this big of a problem. I've been in tons of random groups where a guy immediately admits they don't know and we explain it quick and get it done. Hell I've been in some where they were radio silence not knowing what to do and not telling us but we realized what was happening and we're like "hey just admit it and we will explain it".

What system?

It baffles me on the number if completions requirement. After maybe 2 or 3 completions it becomes 2nd nature. Only thing i can see is that people use different strats depending on teammates but thats about it. I'm going to have a fun time this weekend as i havent done raid completely through yet and I'm too stubborn to look up guides.

I've come to the conclusion that the Dungeons and possibly Lairs should include some of the actual raid mechanics as a way of teaching them to players and make them more approachable. Effectively making the dungeon a "lite raid" to get more people more comfortable with raiding. I feel that this would also keep Bungle from making raid mechanics annoying and overly complex as well. It they have to be simplified then they have to be based in simplicity. No more unfun games of hot potato.

3 AntwortenDid the raid yesterday with a friend and 4 other randos we found on LFG, wasn't too hard. It was my first time, so they all explained it in different manners so I could get it, we one phased everything except vault where there were some slight miscommunications, and we demolished Riven. Point is, there is always someone out there looking to help or willing to help

Just do what ~30% of LFGers do, watch a YT video and then join a group and say that you've done it 10 times on your account, but now you're doing it on you girlfriend's account and that's why you have no completions. If people point out that you stuffed up, just say something like "Oh you do that part differently? Show me how you do it" On my first completion of King's Fall, nobody asked me if I'd done it and Oryx only took us a handful of tries. After everyone had finished patting each other on the back, I said that was my first time in King's Fall and suddenly they all got pissed at me. I was like "So? We finished it in a reasonable time, and it was your mate there who kept -blam!-ing it up for us. What's your problem?" Now we're all best mates. Made a clan together. Fake it 'til you make it.

4 AntwortenIf only there was a way to create your own group with your own requirements 🤔

1 AntwortenWhen you post a group: Put “inexperienced” in the title. Players don’t want to help those that hide information from them.
-
A guy in my clan was like this when I first started last wish. Fortunately we have the internet. Yes, no one would pick the guy that never did it. Eventually I learned the various roles through lfg runs. It’s the only way to progress. Ultimately, it’s up to others to improve yourself. Of my 30 clears, 15 were sherpas
-
Use the raid finder in-game. It is a long wait but you get queued with people who will help you
-
You're in a clan with 90+ people, have none of them offered? If so you might want to find a new clan, or use one of the dozens of other resources there are to find a raid group.
-
Everytime I post looking for players to join me, I always include KWTD as I am trying to quickly do it for the 5000th time, and still 95% of the time a guy will join with little to no experience at all with it. It's a little annoying I guess, but I still always bring them with me as long as they are high enough power. It's pretty easy to bring 1-2 new people through as long as they listen. It just reeeaaally slows things down when you have to explain every encounter but need to do it on multiple characters. I do empathize though, which is why I still keep them instead of being an ass and kicking them. I've made a couple of good friends that way, too.

Just have to keep trying and ask around. I got in last week with a group that didn’t mind helping a first timer. Cleared on all three of my characters with no issues. We one phased every boss without issue.
-
1 AntwortenIts a very easy raid to hard carry 1-2 people. The noobie guy coming can sit in a corner and kill adds all day. Thats how easy the raid is. And even then, most LFG teams cheese Riven anyway. That is the thing though, only willing sherpas are noob friendly. LFG is all random players. They can pick up whomever they want. In a raid where the final boss can be cheesed, expect alot of pricks on lfg.

6 AntwortenThe raids are piss eady and are a joke anyways. Too much looking at icons and not enough shooting. Lame
-
16 AntwortenMake your own group and title it first time raiders. Get 5 other people that are in your shoes and learn it together. Unless you dont wanna raid with inexperienced people either?
-
I use to have the same problem with year 1 raids I just faked it to I made it
-
Too bad your on PS or I’d have my clan help you through
-
2 AntwortenI learn by doing. I could watch a raid video 100 times and still have to walk through each phase. It's how I learn. Unfortunately, there is no room in Destiny for that type of behavior, so I have only done the leviathan raid once or twice. I would like to do them more, but I also only have the weekend to game, as well.
-
11 AntwortenFind a sherpa or clan team willing to teach, way better experience than LFG. I can see you’re in a clan, does no one in there offer to help others with the raids?
-
It’s not just with the raids but you won’t find much sympathy here on the forums, maybe a few git guds
-
2 AntwortenYo, my fellow Floridian. What platform?
-
There's an elitism for Destiny? You sure?
-
1 AntwortenI can’t raid because the few remnants of my “clan” aren’t enough to fill a raid team. There is no way we are picking up some kid on LFG to do it. After doing comp LFG dozens of time and making no headway I realized rather quickly that all the LFG people on this ap are looking to be carried. I stopped LFG and was able to get Luna Solo. Besides maybe 1KV there really isn’t a reason to do the raid anyway.
