Could You Just STOP... Just... DON'T

Stop hollering, bitching, and crying for nerfs. A year ago, our abilities and weapons felt too underwhelming. Bungie makes us powerful, and now you want it dialed back down. No nerfing the Sleeper. No nerfing the Shoulder Charge. No nerfing the Primeval's strength and difficulty. No nerfing the shotgun. Many of us have been wrecked by the same shit that wrecked you. And do you know what we did? We ADAPTED. We figured out how to counter that shit and got gud. None of us want a shit game again. Shut up. No goddamn nerfs.

        • I like how he claims he got killed by the same things and simply found ways to counter these weapons. Well, what was the counter to the original vex mythoclast, suros regime, felwinters lie, thorn, final round snipers and so on? Sometimes, individual weapons need a slight nerf. I’m not a fan of nerfs myself but it’s a necessity when one particular weapon dominates and gets abused. The problem is Bungie decides to nerf the entire class of weapons instead of just nerfing that one particular weapon in most cases, which is how we end up with shotgun meta, sniper meta, side arm meta (lol)

        • I think you should to step back and realize the forums aren't a democracy. Bungie has a lot of data available from the production environment. Complaints are backed up by facts and data and disproven by so as well. For instance, they may find that 90% of the player base won't return to gambit after they receive their powerful engram. That teams who have players with an open bounty for the large blocker may have a higher % of losses - that their average mote count on hand is between 11 - 15 and have more of an unsuccessful deposit rate. For shotguns, their stats may prove that shotguns are responsible for the majority of kills in a playlist. That the the rate of shotgun kills is correlated to the pickups of special ammo or the 2 kills to 1 death average of a shotgun rusher. Or the data may not. Much of the waiting game for balance patches is to make sure a trend isn't a fad. They can flip a nerf switch on a weapon instantly. They've done this with the rat king temporarily. When you step back, look at the themes behind the complaints. They usually center on cheap kills. Getting crammed into a close corridor map, and getting flanked before your radar can populate an approacher can feel cheap to some. Also witnessing that rusher during your death cooldown get bopped by another shotgunner who gets bopped by another shotgunner makes the game feel like one hit kill boxing with boom sticks rather than a shooter. Powering through your motes and dropping a dozen small blockers in a match, just to get invaded over and over because you popped your primeval first feels cheap. Having that team devolve the game into a one hit kill competition feels cheap to some. Especially when fun mote farming options like Riskrunner, telesto, sunshot are off of the table because of needing to equip a sleeper defensively. Bungie gave titans some really good options this season. My thoughts are that it was in response to the amount of hunters in the crucible. I'm OK with them having a one hit kill melee. Its not that bad. Every once and a while you'll get one guy that just abuses it. Some people are just here to vent. Bungie's data will show that its not as crazy as the forums say. You also have to realize the shotgun vs the world war will never end. We're more likely to see peace between the darkness and the traveler before that happens. There's a fundamental flaw with this game that is very difficult to balance right. Shotguns and the game's aerial and land maneuverability will always cause a slippery slope to that weapon being the most efficient option. The time to turn a corner and bop someone is faster than the TTK on most weapons. So chill, no one who throws their controller and goes to this forum is going to pause and think "you know what, EVIE has a good point - I'll switch to my titan, put on my skullfort, grab a bandlander and a sleeper and adapt"

          • Nerfs aren’t inherently bad, they allow for other weapons to compete, obviously you can go the other route and just buff everything to be broken af but that brings up the problem of people running through challenging activities like it was nothing (fatebringer, hammer, gally) the problem is bungie tends to go overboard on nerfs (thorn) if they could just nerf OP things to the point where they can compete instead of dominate then we might have a community that doesn’t cry nerf all the time.

          • I still feel underpowered compared to my Destiny 1 loadouts. Nothing in Destiny 2 comes close to the destruction you could unleash with the Fatebringer, Black Hammer, Gjallarhorn combo. When will they bring back elemental primary weapons. (And before anyone says it: Just because I can equip an elemental hand cannon in my secondary slot doesn't make it an elemental primary). Destiny 1 raid weapons are infinitely better than anything Destiny 2 had yet to offer. The only weapon I was somewhat excited about was the whisper... But they ruined it by making it a heavy weapon reliant on almost non-existent heavy ammo drops. My suggestions to Bungie: make raids worth doing outside of the lore and powerful engram rewards. I've yet to see a weapon that makes me want to do the raids. Sure the new raid hand cannon looks okay, but I'll just use my Luna's Howl instead.

            • I believe it's OK to nerf something if it breaks the game. I don't personally like shotguns or shoulder charge, but there's way to counter them, but something like Sleeper is Gambit is a bit too much that it becomes a meme. Doesn't mean it needs a nerf, but there are ways to make it that it ruins the experiences. We can adapt, but we can't adapt to something breaking the game. If we all think that every class but our own is OP, then they did a good job. Nobody can get exotics? Bungie adjusts. Sleeper ever where in Gambit? Bungie looks at ways to not let get out of hand without a nerf to the weapon itself. Just FYI, the reason we have Forsaken be the way it is is because they listened to us and applied what they believe is the right solution. They'll do the same again with this feedback. They not trying to make things worse :/ The positive feedback on Forsaken tells them they are heading in right direction, let's encourage them to keep that path. Let's complain, and they make decision based on feedback and data.

            • In D1, the Vex Mythoclast [b]had[/b] to be nerfed. The problem was it was nerfed to the ground to the point that it was weaker than a lot of legendary scouts. If Bungie knew how to make subtle adjustments this wouldn't be such a big issue. Scout rifles for example. I haven't used one since the nerf. Sad too, I've managed to get some with very good perks yet they're still a less viable choice.

              See, I always hate posts like these. You can't just leave things overpowered. Not much may be OP in destiny right now, true, but if and when the next Graviton Lance comes, it must be nerfed. When a gun takes up nearly 20% of all crucible weapon usage, something must change. When a gun like sleeper can dominate gambit, it is not the fault of the victim that they were bodied instantly from across he map by an unseen enemy who could see the location of said victim, but the fault of poor balancing. Nerfs are not inherently bad. They are often necessary. The question is when does a nerf stop balancing and start breaking? Because that is a fine line my friend. Edit: Also, "just counter it" is not an excuse. This is destiny, not chess or rainbow. There is no countering.

              • I feel either just play gambit how it is or take.it away so nobody has to complain. Some people use elite comtrollers or hsbe better reaction times with base comtrollers that cant be changed by nerfing guns. I dont mind getting killed with sleeper i just do the same then the opponents we all have the same heavy ammo on both sides just play better with what we have there is never a balance becaude eveyone has different remotes and play styles and skill sets you cant make everyone happy or satisfied

              • You’re mostly right but for the sleeper issue, it’s literally just sleeper. You can precharge any linear fusion rifle just like a normal fusion rifle and it has the ability to body shot where as other linear fusions require a headshot. It’s harder to precharge those around the corners and vaporize someone. Sleeper is misbalanced. There’s no counter. The counter is to sit in your spawn and do nothing for the full 30 seconds. You can’t anticipate them and their precharge. Only they know when they are going to peek out with their already charged shot. You either get lucky and see them spawn in or you are in a position that’s defended enough to hide the whole time. Those are your only real options.

              • There's a difference between nerfing and "balancing". Balancing has to happen. Players player, things that the team didn't anticipate would be too overpowered or under-powered are found out and things are further balanced. It's a long process that requires feedback from the community to happen and make the game more enjoyable. You're whining because you don't like change, plain and simple.

              • Lol I bet you didn't. Because people like you don't [i]adapt[/i], you circumvent. You try to find cheese methods, or look for the OP meta weapons so that you don't [i]have[/i] to adapt to challenge and instead break the game to bypass and/or remove said challenge.
