I’m not sure if this has been said but what if the traveller had visited the other races(vex and fallen etc) and then left them and that’s why they chase after it and why the ghosts are compatible with all of their tech and can break through the locks because the traveller watched and helped them create it and there were hive,fallen, cabal and vex guardians.

I find the Traveler to be pretty questionable sometimes tbh. I mean, yeah, it saved us in D2, but it wasn’t really there to help us in D1. It was just..there. (I always thought it looked more like a snow ball) There is lore to suggest (Correct me if I’m wrong please.) that the Traveler tried to leave during the collapse and Rasputin shot it or something. It only created a ghost as a means of self preservation. And [spoiler][/spoiler] it only became active again when Ghaul slapped humanity around for a bit and its “guardians” were defenseless against a light bearing ghaul. The Traveler only acts on self preservation to me. Personally, I think it just goes from species to species, giving them stuff so they can protect it from whatever the darkness is. Why the Traveler hasn’t left yet? I don’t know. Maybe I’m wrong but I find it weird.

I believe that the light and the darkness used to be one energy. And that 2 ancient civilizations went to war and discovered this energy. Each faction used it to fight, they would give their soliders special abilities like a flaming sword or a staff. The abilites were similar but as time went on they would use their different doctrines to dictate how this power was used. Thus we have light and dark.The ways of the pure energy was lost and only a powerful weilder of light or dark can learn how to use the old energy. The Light civilization never liked to fight and would rather help other species. This would cost the light civilization the war, as a result they were being killed off, so they created a giant machine that could hold the light energy, and when the light civilization died, they put all thier souls in the great machine. The leaders of the dark civilization were scared, because it was the only thing that posed a threat to the dark, and if a socity learned enough about it, they could oppress the universe. So they built great ships to pursue the Travller. When they found the traveler with a species, they would try to wiped out the species so they couldn't remember what happened. When the traveler came to humanity, it saw something in them, that they were the chosen peoples. The Darkness saw this to when the traveller decides to fight rather then run. In the fight the leader of the darkness was killed and his son would take over. The darkness had to retreat and lick their wounds. But they also retreated to study the traveler and humanity. But most importantly they studied the Guardians. Those who weild similar abillities that the troops of the darkness used to destroy the light civilization. And these Gaurdians are good at achieving the near impossibly, especially one Gaurdian from old russia. This Gaurdian is interesting to the new leader of the darkness. The new leader thinks himself the chosen one , the one that will reunite the light and the darkness and rule the universe and make things in order. But he wonders if the Gaurdian is the chosen one. When the traveler awakened, this was a single to the new leader that humanity is important, and if the traveler grants them power, the darkness fears they would rule the universe and make things horrible. The Darkness sees humanity as a war mongers and oppressors when given power. So the darkness must wipe out the Gaurdians and either rule over or wipe out humanity. Then the leader will learn the ways of old and as he sees it, save the universe.

<I fully believe the Traveler itself is a being of pure Light. After realizing it is vulnerable in this state (thanks Darkness), she made a 14km sphere of neutronium and electroweak matter (confirmed materials btw). In this time, she hooked herself up to the orb via machinery (which could've been used to drain the Light by the Red Legion). Her goals are good, to uplift societies. However, she has an off way of doing this. Using Fundament as an example, the Traveler benefit the Ammonites, but the Krill and many other species were left to suffer. The Gardener seems to have no problem with whoever races the Guardians kill. Of course, the opposite would be the entity of pure Darkness, simply known as the Darkness.>

Traveler is an Ahamkara space ship, filled with space magic. With that said, Rasputin crippled it because it was going to abandon us just like it abandoned the Fallen.

On another note...the Hive believe the light must be consumed to allow the Darkness to regain it's dominance in the universe...so the Traveler (light) being a vehicle for the Hive wouldn't make sense. If it did then there'd have to be something showing that the Hive have the same power as the Darkness (ability to resurrect) rather than being servants.

Just a thought, but the hive need to kill to feed their worms, so the worms can survive. We pretty much do the same for the traveller. Just keep killing just like the hive. Coincidence? I think not
