When I got here the door was wide open so I looked in and saw them." "I'm Nate Briggs." Nate, Celle, Mini, Moose, Mjol, Captain Reedy, the three officers, and Miss Snow stood in the middle of Nate's room. Two bodies lay on the floor. One in the doorway and another lying face down by the sofa. On the corridor wall opposite Nate's door was a message scratched into the wood by a bloody knife. It read: [i] One, two, and then it's you[/i] "We'll need to inspect the bodies" said Moose. "Does anyone recognize these men?" "I've never seen them before" said Captain Reedy. Mjol babbled something in French to Captain Ready "Mjol says these men were staying in the rooms next to his. That makes me think this was a warning. The chances are too low." " Lets take a look at the bodies before we make any assumptions" said Nate. "I'm a nurse" said Miss Snow. "Or....at least I was...." "Well go ahead then." Said Moose Miss Snow took a quick look at the knife wounds on both victims. Then she looked inside their mouths and their eyes. "There are three stab wounds on both victims. That man", she said, pointing to the man by the sofa "died several hours ago." "We left only about a half an hour ago." Nate said. "The bodies were placed here then." "What about him?" Celle said, pointing to the man in the doorway "He's only died a few minutes ago" she said without any trace of terror in her voice. "It looks like the murderer didn't stick around to finish the job. Look at the carpet. The blood is smeared. Like he was crawling away. And see how he's positioned in the doorway? He was trying to escape. If the murderer was still there, he would have made sure he was dead. That makes me believe the killer was alerted by something, and had to leave quickly." "So the first body was killed a while ago, and brought here. And the second body was dragged here and then murdered." Said Celle. "And they're Mjol's two neighbors. That means they're threatening Nate and Mjol. But why?" Captain Reedy translated as best he could into French for Mjol. After a quick exchange of words the captain said to Nate: "Mjol here thinks that whoever killed the General last night saw you pull him down from the flagpole. And now you're caught up in the investigation so they're threatening you. Mjol is quite the famous detective in France and thinks that maybe the killer knows his name, and he's warning him to stay out of the way." "But I thought we established that the murderer is killing for sport. He's picking his victims at random. Why would he warn them when he could just kill them off?" Said Moose "I think this is all part of his little show." Said Nate "What do you mean?" Said Moose "Think about it. The first murder was announced as "special entertainment". Here in the second murder, he's given us a little rhyme to work out. This is a show to him, and we're part of it. I think he didn't anticipate Mjol being here, and after he saw me try to save the general, he wants me out of the investigation. If he wanted me out for good, he would kill me, but that would throw confusion into his act. Her wants to be found out. He wants someone to put up a fight and play his game. But he only wants someone who he know cannot defeat him in the end." "Sir if I may," said Mini "I wouldn't count out the fact that this clue of his is intended for one of us.
