So I’ve been homeschooled from 4th-7th and went online for 8th. Thought I would go online for K12 again, but due to various reasons, I am now going to a real high school.
Shiet.
It’s going to be a tough ride, especially given the hard-to-manage career I want to pursue. I’m trying not to idealize the shithole. I’m expecting what I got in elementary and worse: gangs literally stampeding me, throwing balls at my head, dragging me into the girl’s bathroom, and so forth. All so I can get some half-decent experience that will actually help with my career. Unlike K12 with their chat rooms and shitty club leaders, I’ll finally get to work with real humans and make robots, and discect dead chickens, and stuff. Yeet.
I’ll definitely be forced to study harder, which is good. A physical place to listen to teachers and understand the subject is better than staring at a computer from morning til midnight, getting screwed over and bad grades just because the WiFi is down (yes, I’ve actually been screwed academically by my WiFi). I already quit video games 3 weeks ago to add some time for more work.
And since I am a martial artist, I am very excited to try out for the wrestling team. I’ve always enjoyed wrestling type arts such as judo, and I showed lots of potential when I used to play-wrestle my dad. Hopefully it works out.
And then there’s the whole social thing. Even if I want to be a shelled introvert and hate everybody, I’ll still need to be social for my chosen career path, otherwise I’ll probably get fired or a bad reputation. Yippee.
Another bonus I guess is dual credit. K12 had it too, so it’s nothing special, but if I kick my ass hard enough I can be done with my GE by the time I graduate from high school, so money and time saved.
Their band actually interests me since they have a flute ensemble, which I’ve never seen any band have before. If I try hard enough I can get some flute skills and get into the band.
I plan on studying, working out, learning, and taking summer school the -blam!- out for these next 4 years.
sorry for a half baked post, I’m just hungry and need to vent stuff.
I remember high school. I moved to New Mexico from California right after my 8th grade year. Same thing as you though, I’d been homeschooled my whole life. So on top of being homeschooled, I was in an entirely new state with no friends for my first year of high school. Luckily there are other people who are much more social than I who reached out to me and we became friends. It was pretty tough for a semester or two though. Hopefully you’ll get a better experience. Maybe you’ll end up like I am in a few years, looking back on your high school experience with pride rather than sadness. Either way, it’s not the end of the world, high school comes and goes.

I did wrestling in high school and it was awesome even though I wasn't very good

Bearbeitet von Darth Turtle: 8/1/2018 11:55:04 AMHere the thing about freshman year. If any of the upperclassmen(Sophomores are normally fine) come up to you and try to be friends out of the blue I.E not in a club meeting or a natural environment like you’ve been forced to work on a project together they’re most likely not looking to be your friend so be careful. Second since you’ve been homeschooled for so long most people probably won’t remember you and the cliches will of been formed from middle school. Because of this trying to”Fit in” won’t work. You’ll look like a fake idiot. Be yourself and you’ll find a group naturally since it’s freshman year lots of friend groups break apart if shift from middle and elementary school. Third this the most Important year of high school. The grades you get this year with affect your GPA and your class choices for the rest of high school. Plus since GPA is cumulative an A or D now will effect it much more then it will in the future. Every point matters. If there’s extra credit take it any opportunity to get more points take it. Sorry for the wall of text but I kinda screwed my freshman year up in both the social and education side so I’d don’t want you to make the same mistake That being said high school is a lot of fun. I’d recommend joining a club for something your interested in. I do debate I’ve met a lot of good friends through that.

1 AntwortenGood luck. My freshman year wasn’t too bad, but it sounds like elementary school was worse for you so... hope things go well
