I've heard a couple people that I play with argue which is the better gun, Origin Story vs Braytech Winter Wolf. "Origin Story is better cause Rampage!" "Braytech is better cause it's solid!" But which is truly the better weapon? Well down below I got the stats for both weapons compared side by side... Origin Story - Winter Wolf Range: 61 - 72 Stability: 46 - 47 Mag: 32 - 34 (at the lowest possible for both) Reload: 47 - 48 Handling: 43 - 45 Inventory: 47 - 55 (What this means is how big the reserves are) Aim Assist: 35 - 47 Recoil Direction: 73 - 74 Stat wise, Winter Wolf beats Origin by a bit in most places- well all places really. The place it really beats it is Aim Assist and Range and the Inventory (reserve ammo). But a thing that is said is that Origin Story has Rampage... so that makes it automatically better- right? Well given the damage output... I would agree- but that requires getting a kill, and turning with limited time towards your next target if it's not trash mobs. If everything is all lined up... yeah works great. But if you're dealing with trash mobs and then turn to use what time you have left in Rampage and what little ammo you have to shoot the boss, to me that's wasting your time. Now if it was Kill Clip... that would be a different story. Over all Origin Story is more suited for taking out mobs, rather than focusing ones attention on a big target or a boss. Winter Wolf is one of the few lucky weapons to have two choices for perks, High Impact reserves, or Zen Moment. Both help this weapon a lot against Origin Story. While High Impact doesn't do what we used to think... at most it's a 6% buff to your damage, that is still damage that you control when it happens, no needing to kill something to make it happen. It allows you to focus on a target- yellow bar, boss... whatever it is, and keep pumping shots. It's also a help in PvP if you're pumping fire down a lane. And Zen Moment is Zen Moment... more stability is always nice- it's why some like Null Calamity. Honestly both weapons have a place, both are work horse guns, but stat wise Winter Wolf beats out Origin Story in a few places by a little, and the rest by a lot. The perks between the two are up to personal play style. Are you someone who clears mobs, or do you focus on a singular target? If I had to choose which I personally feel is the better choice, I'd go with Winter Wolf. It feels more solid over Origin to me as a weapon, and it doesn't rely on having to get a kill for some sort of damage buff. It's just a work horse. And yes Origin Story is too, but I was never a fan of Rampage/Crowd Control. While it's a great perk, don't get me wrong... you aren't always going to be able to take advantage of it. Me personally... I prefer something that I don't have a possible wasted perk sometimes, and have something that is always accessible. Which do you prefer though?
