Hey Guardians, it's time for Day 3 of my personal crusade to get a magazine buff for the Sunshot. Am I wasting my time? Maybe, but win or lose at least I can say I tried.
Let's talk about the 150rpm archetype for hand cannons. I'm going to cover the 2 best (imo) options for the energy slot and the only 2 options in the kinetic slot.
[u]Imset HC4 w/ High-Caliber Rounds and Dragonfly[/u]:
This is my hidden gem and go-to energy hand cannon.
This gun has 13 shots of high caliber rounds and dragonfly.
*Dragonfly only does ~60 damage to the sunsplosions 100 damage in PvP.
[u]Jack Queen King 3 w/ Ricochet Rounds and Pulse Monitor[/u]:
With 13 Ricochet rounds, this energy hand cannon has the best range for the 150 and 140 rpm archetypes.
If pulse monitor kicks in, you'll find yourself firing for a long time before reloading. It also has waaaay more aim assist (91) than the sunshot.
[u]Midnight Coup w/ Outlaw and Rampage[/u]: This is my go to PvE hand cannon. It only has 12 rounds, but reloads lightning fast with outlaw.
In the raid, the first cabal takes two headshots before dying; after stacking rampage 2/3 you start one tapping everything to the head. Truly a thing of beauty.
[u]Dire Promise[/u] w/ Appended Mag and Triple Tap: This is a hand cannon has great stats across the board that make up for the lackluster perk set.
If you land all critical hits for triple tap, this gun gets to fire 19 times per mag.
The Sunshot is an exotic and should be outperforming the other hand cannons in at least one aspect of the game, regardless of whether that is PvP or PvE. The other options in the 150rpm archetype all have perks helping them stay in the fight longer, or perks that help them deal more damage per shot. I'd argue that the Imset HC4 is better than the Sunshot, if not as fun to use. It's just so painfully obvious that 8 rounds in the mag just doesn't cut it.

*The DFA has the best range of the 140/150 rpm hand cannons. As it is the only hand cannon in the game I don't have, it slipped my mind. Keep in mind that Ricochet Rounds (JQK3) add a small range stat boost, but add an invisible range boost due to the increase in zoom. It will have a lower number value for it's range stat, but will experience damage fall off at a further range. Yeah, the masterworked Sunshot has a range stat of 74. However, as I said in my Day 2 post, only 20% of players even pledged FWC so only a small % of people have the SS catalyst.

It has 3 points higher than Sturm, the slowest firing archetype, which are known for heavy hits but slow reloads

You got my vote, this gun really needs a mag buff....8 solar shots is too small.....wish all hand cannons were 10 shots or higher. Wish u luck on the crusade on getting someone from bungie to see this post

5 AntwortenBump I’d like to add that the True Prophecy is an absolute beast in PvE it one shots every red bar in game. Service Revolver. Another beast but also great for PvP. So friggin stable, easy to land headshots. Buff Sunshot mag, love that gun but not enough ammo, spot on.

It could use a mag increase. Also, hand cannons in general need increase to ammo reserve as well

Agreed in full, precision hc's also need a serious reload speed buff. I like using the but that reload time is suicidal.

But yet it’s not always a 1HK but yet when the man summons the hammer of justice and feels like dropping the hammer all they have to do is point in a general direction and it’ll kill someone, if I’m in America and the Titan throws the hammer at Russia it’ll still kill me. The projectiles thrown by the dawnblade travel at such a slow rate, my lord if Gary the snail was in the crucible and you threw a dawnblade sword at him he’d be halfway across the world and sword would land at where he started. [i][i]The point:[/i][/i] Dawnblade needs a buff and not to speed they need the splash damage for daybreak to be better and shorter time to throw swords [spoiler]and hunter mains stfu I don’t see your teathers not working, Golden gun not killing, and as for arcstriders... well that’s a hard subclass to use so gl I’m kidding hunters I love you. :) But fr buff dawnblade pls [/spoiler]

2 AntwortenI 1000% agree. 10-11 shots would make a huge difference or precision kills reload part of the mag. It’s my favorite gun in D2 by a mile.

It needs more aim assist on console too. It just doesn't stick in PvP.

1 AntwortenI think the 8 round mag is fine, what Sunshot needs is more kick. It’s great for handling adds, they should emphasize that by increasing headshot damage and increasing the damage of Sunshot’s dragonfly by 3x and the cascade of subsequent explosions should cause increased damage (up to 5x) with each enemy caught in the explosion. If you have a boss that’s surrounded by a lot of adds the cascade explosions would cause a decent amount of damage. Make it that one handcannon that can clear a room with a single bullet. If you do that the 8 round mag will be more than enough and the gun will feel exotic.

I'd say either a buff to it's magazine or some method to refill reserves. I would also think that it should cause Bigger chained explosions with it's Catalyst unlocked or have the solar explosion linger and burn nearby enemies.

feels like the slowest reloading hand cannon in the entire game and with the 8 round clip, makes it a total waste of an exotic slot. total junk

Could have been really cool if when its sun blast perk kills additional ads, it reloads 1 ammo from reserved into your mag per kill.

Agreed - while Sshot's 'splosions are truly exotic-caliber, the gun needs two-four more rounds in the can to really make sense.

Maybe the next exotic weapon tuning it’ll get a few more bullets? I’ve never really had a problem with sunshot. To me it was designed for trash mobs like hordes of Thrall
