[b]WRONG[/b]. Ghosts are still relevant, guardians still need them to be revived from the dead. It’s not a situation like Thor’s hammer, we need a ghost to use the light as it is the source of our light, not a conduit for our power. So the fact that caydes ghost is dead (exploded in the trailer) means he ain’t coming back. No, he can’t become cayde-7 as exo reboots don’t work that way. Cayde is dead for good, unless bungie rewrites literally everything they’ve established about ghosts, the light, and exos over the past 5 years.

What I’m saying is that, from established lore, of a guardians ghost dies (even if the traveler is awake) the guardian has 1 life left. A better way of phrasing what I said is while the traveler is the source of all light, our ghost is what gives us that power. I wouldn’t compare it to Jesus because he didn’t grant people magic space powers or undo death for anyone but himself. A guardians ghost is the source of [b]our[/b] light, not [b]all[/b] light. For a guardian, a ghost is the reason they can’t permanently die of things like old age, fatal disease, or a bullet to the head. Ghosts are what make guardians, such as our character, unkillable soldiers of the light. Without a ghost, guardians have no light, and if a guardian has no light and get killed, they die for good. On the topic of exo reboots, I would watch some more recent mynameisbyf vids as they talk about the new information regarding that given by the warmind dlc. But, in lamest terms, exos are a human mind in a robot body. This is part of the cause of DER (dissociative exomind rejection), a disorder where the human mind rejects the exo body. Things such as having the mind “wake up” in the new body, humanisms (the urge/ability to do things like eat, drink, procreate, etc. and the inclusion of all five senses), and reboots help prevent the onset of this. Reboots cause things such as long term memory loss, personality change (extreme), and the changing of traits (a righty may become a lefty). The prediction of safe maximum reboots is 20, after which some symptoms get worse, hence why banshee-44 has short term memory loss and will forget how long a guardian has been standing in front of him or the fact that his name ends in 44 (from a scannable in the tower where ghost mentions banshee tried logging into a terminal as banshee-41 so many times it permanently locked him out). Exos can’t reboot under great trauma however, because it could cause extreme corruption of the brain (changes name for example). That’s as much as I know, but there could be inaccuracies in my knowledge. Please correct me if I’m wrong for any of this.
