If you don't need this guide, please bump so that those who do need it will see this.
I was able to get the graviton catalyst done in about 2 days. I do work during the day like most of you, so this should work for you If you are efficient.
Daily Milestones
The daily milestones to loot a lost sector give you about 40 tokens on one character each day. That's only if you do it on 5 renown. That's 120 tokens and will take about 45 minutes if you take your time. The account-wide milestone to loot one at 5 renown will give you an extra 10.
So there's 130 in one day in 45 minutes.
Edit: To clarify, These numbers include the tokens it takes to get to 5 renown or 3 renown.
Speed-Running Lost Sectors
Crimson is your best friend. Most of the lost sector enemies are really easy to kill, so getting headshots with Crimson is a piece of cake.
If you don't have Crimson, Wormhusk, Healing Rifts, or Sentinel Titan's Melee ability will regen your health.
Crucible
Winning a match gives you 5 tokens, in one hour you can finish 4-5 matches so that's 20-25 tokens.
Nightfall
This is a great one. One NF gives you 14-16 tokens, and it takes about 15 minutes to do one. So that's ~60 tokens an hour. And you can grind for that sniper as well.
Raid
Not worth it unless you can finish it in 20 minutes. I only got 3-5 tokens per encounter. Might be a glitch on my part, but I'm not sure.
EDIT A lot of people are also pointing out that you can farm public events if you want, and it'll go a lot faster, earning a minimum of 60 tokens an hour.
So I did the milestones, and then I did Lost Sectors, followed by nightfalls. You can grind this however you want, but this is how I got it done.
Graviton Lance Catalyst
You need 500 kills with the little tracking projectiles to complete the catalyst. You also need to just get kills, but you'll get that one while working on the projectiles.
To finish the graviton catalyst, go to Mars or some place with lots of thrall or psions.
On Mars, activate EP level one in futurescape on the plate to the right of where you spawn in, under the bridge. Shoot one thrall on the outside into the middle where it can explode and damage the rest of the thrall, which will damage the rest and get you about 10 cosmology kills. You will have about 15 seconds to do this before other Randoms come up and start taking all the kills. So once the shadow rift spawns, go into the lost sector.
Damage all the acolytes, and kill one to chain all of them at once. For the thrall in the last two rooms, let them group up, and simply kill one.
Rinse and repeat.
EDIT Someone Also pointed out that the Mars mission heptasus.... Heptaseaus, lol, it has huge wave of thrall at the end that you can wipe and redo over and over again.
If you don't have Warmind, find a lost sector on Io with lots of taken or regular psions, and get them to group up, then take them out.
Edit 2: A LOT of people are pointing out that grinding out public events, then doing a lost sector works. Or just grinding out constant PE. This should get you around 100 tokens an hour
Hope this helps! Sorry for the wall of text!

I did the daily for the token bundle then did public events and lost sector I work full time and I still hit rank 50

1 AntwortenSo, in other words... Quit your job, ignore any and all responsibility that you may have to your family, and play Destiny for about 12 hours... Got it... Hard pass.
-
11 Antwortenwhy would I ever spend so much time in a game for such a tiny reward? Why would I burn myself out for almost nothing? Why would I ignore a ton of other awesome games just to be bored for hours and hours in this one? This grind is poorly balanced.
-
1 AntwortenThe question isn't "how" but "why"! Why waste your life on a catalyst? This grind is as stupid and bad as the D1Y1 skinner box grind for materials and glimmer.
-
16 AntwortenWhy did Bungie think 500 Cosmology kills to get the second half finished was a good idea? Just getting to 300 is already enough of a grind. ;-;
-
I see you're now spreading the good word. 😉
-
2 AntwortenI got 1000 in 12 hours not very hard
-
1 Antworten600 tokens in 5 hours, just from lost sectors and public events
-
1 AntwortenIs this with or without a full set of faction gear?
-
8 AntwortenI don't know the exact amount you get but I run with a ghost shell that gives you a chance at additional faction consumables on "said" planet? I don't know if it made a huge difference but I would make sure to have one equipped just in case.

Nah. Go to Titan. Do Walker public event, haul ass to the lost sector with ogre. It's 1 room, and you can snipe him easily. You get 8 tokens for a renown of 3. Fast travel to the witch's ritual public event, which should be starting momentarily. Do the same thing. Grind this for an hour or 2, around 150 tokens. Fast. Never in danger. You may even be able to catch a supply reclamation in between.

Thanks for this! It’s cool to see people who go out of their way to be a good person and help out for nothing other then just being helpful. I will use some of the strategies!

2 AntwortenThe 2018 Graviton Lance PVP Tournament starts in full next week.
-
1 AntwortenThe best way is to pay someone to do it for you. I’m now 52 with New Monarchy. Last time I do it. Tedious as hell.
-
5 AntwortenThe difference isn’t noticeable with it master worked. With the added range, what is the difference in crits? Starting to think masterworks truly are just an artificial carrot to cover Bungie until September

4 AntwortenMy apologies, but this "guide" is borderline ridiculous. The account wide milestone of looting a 5x lost sector happens only once, not daily. The rest of the daily milestones reward anywhere from 10-15, depending on what it is (three strikes reward 15, while 3x renown lost sectors reward 10). I agree that raids are useless due to time/tokens ratio. Nightfalls don't take 15 minutes unless you have a dedicated crew. Using LFG you'll be lucky to complete two per hour. I applaud you for putting a guide out there to try and help people, especially with the overload of negativity this community has embraced, but it's filled with errors and false hope. Here's a real guide for people that work: Farm public events on Earth. You get five for every heroic quest you complete. If you see Guardians doing the mini event to capture points, you can either help, or just jump into a circle for a sec and go about your business. As long as you are in the area, you will get tokens. In terms of renown, that will determine how much time you have to dedicate. If you get a 5 stack, then loot a LS. You get 11 tokens. Having Crimson or something that heals you makes these easier. Recap: you can easily complete 5-7 heroic public events an hour for anywhere from 25-35 tokens. Add an additional 10 or so if you do the daily, and an additional 22 if you get two 5x stacks per hour and complete LS. In reality you can obtain 50-60 tokens per hour without much effort. You still need 15-20 hours of grinding. I'm not sure where OP got his numbers from, but they're not real.

Bearbeitet von TheShadow-cali: 6/10/2018 10:38:23 PMHow to get rewards as they were intended...
Have engrams drop from the events like D1. Problem solved.
Edit: Collecting that many tokens for any rewards is stupid. Especially knowing the amount of duplicats you get in this game that do absolutely nothing for this game.

9 AntwortenThe key is finding the fastest, easiest lost sector in the game. Titan, the Rig. Takes 30 seconds, even with 5 renoun. Just grind Titan public events and the Rig.
-
Bearbeitet von Risky: 6/11/2018 6:07:09 PMtitan is good as there are public events regularly. do PE run to LS complete and next PE is loading. plenty of high value targets and scavenger chests.. great if you have a full set. easyish 15 tokens per 10 minutes. Titan is also good for Dead Orbit ornaments warlock chest : kill a high value target quickly then run to other zone to get another. Hunter chest: Knight lost sector is good. average about 5% a run. can do 2 runs between public events. attack knight with sword then pop when thrall are on you. Titan Chest: Lots of PE is good for as titan(zone) has a high Heroic PE success rate. source: i am rank 102 in Dead orbit.
-
8 AntwortenDaily Milestones: 40 tokens on each character per day? They don't. 2 heroic PE give 2 x 5 tokens (to get to 5 renown) and you get 10 from a lost sector (with aforementioned 5 renown). That's 20 tokens, not 40. Half of what you claim. Back to the drawing board...

Couldn't make it, got to 32. Takes too much time.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von DeusFever: 6/11/2018 2:51:55 PMtl;dr
Speed-Running Lost Sectors Crimson is your best friend.
Some like the ogre lost sector on Titan but I favor the very first lost sector under the church in the EDZ. Don't waste time going for 5 renown. If you have a stack of 4 and no quick events are available, burn down that captain for 8 tokens. You'll hate patrol zones by the time you're done but this is the fastest method.

Didn’t have time to play last week did mine in 2 days this weekend. Now I don’t even wanna touch this game for a long time after the god awful grind. 😂 D2 problems 🤦🏻♂️
-
2 AntwortenAll I needed was some pop tarts, rockstars and a diaper and I’m all set 🤙
-
I’m liking the public event one and then lost sector. The nf I need to lfg, so unless you find people doing the same thing or farming the weapon then it won’t work cause you might spend time looking for groups.
-
I really only farmed PE (after milestone activity), I was getting just over 100 tokens in an hour (about 70 mins actually). Just went to Earth, PE after PE there - just fast travel to each one do the event and zip off the the next one. You can easily do 20 in an hour, though, it does depend on how many other players are also there to help. But Earth has been so very active since the start of the event I haven't had to go anywhere else.
