Fireteam Matchmaking Changes Re-enabled

Crucible Fireteam Matchmaking changes have been fully re-enabled. Solo players will still match against pre-made Fireteams but will find the playing field more even than it was pre-Warmind.

    Honestly the playing field doesnt seem fair at all and even in comp its like 99% of people are useing luna's which makes getting to fabled way too hard to do and people cant say "get good then" because I have been working for hours and hours to get luna's

        • Complete and utter drivel !! Fantasy, nonsense.... Fake... 🐄💩 Normally my win rate is on the 50% margin. I'm not MLG pro, but I'm better than average for an old guy.... Today, 4 hrs I played PvP... Win rate 24%. Some of the people I was paired with... Sheeessshh !!! But if the algorithm was working properly, that should NEVER happen.... Especially not over such a prolonged session. Matchmaking is an utter disaster to be quite frank.... Complete and utter disaster.

Oh, and make sure you put all the best gear and weapons behind that paywall that you guys said you wouldn't be doing. It's a great motivation to play this game that give a lot of incentive that will bring millions back.

          • This is total BS. I’ve been put in about 7 games in a row where the match was already in progress and the team I was thrown in was getting -blam!- and Shaxx “called it”. How is this fair matchmaking or even fun? You have completely ruined this game and it’s quite obvious you don’t give a damn about the game or it’s players. You have gone from being the best game devs in the business to the absolute worst. Hope you’re proud of yourselves Bungle.

          • Bungie, 6v6 iron banner is legit fun. Can we please have competitive ranking system of glory for control and clash game modes ? Forget survival and countdowns. That would be so epic, and many more people would play. It would also reduce the team stack problem people complain about. Do this and then make trials elimination 3v3 again, and bravo, you have restored destiny pvp Countdown and survival can be in a separate list “ objective “ and throw supremacy and rift in that playlist too. Also, we need a third ranking system for pvp progression. Something that is based around individual performance, like kills, assists, captures, medals earned, and so on.. Please do this bungie

          • I don't really care if the 6 man fireteam I play are good players or poor players, I just don't want to play vs a full pre made team. I've played 2 iron banner matches since the reset. First match was a total whitewash. 2nd match I checked the teams in orbit, saw a 6 man opponent and switched the game off and put fifa on. Just match team v team. There's plenty of teams I match them all the time.

          • Don't care. You can make all the changes that you want, arguably the best PvP weapon will still not be accessible to solo players. Make the glory rank accessible through rumble, then i will care what you do crucible wise. Award an escalable rank progression for the first 3 places and negative if you finish below that. You can also have a winning streak bonus only for those who finish 1st in succession. There, now solo players(the best solo players) have a fair chance of getting Redrix's Claymore without dealing with the obvious disadvantages that they have against stacked teams.

            • You 'fix' this asap to satisfy the YouTube and Twitch streamers, yet the rest of your gaming base takes it deep in the a$$ from the broken XP clan rewards, heroics that are harder than the NF (which I love harder heroics but....) and give shit rewards. Plus a host of other bugs and glitches that are basically just excuses to stretch out the grind until Sept?!

            • This comment does not even make any sense! Solo players will find the playing field more even. So either one of three things has been done. 1. Solo's are being added to matches that make up the numbers for 3 man stacks. 2. Solo's have had damage adjusted upwards to allow them quicker ttk against stacks. 3. Solo players have radar enabled. Literally nothing else can be done to even the playing field. Unless the level playing field is to insta-ban the lag switching so and so's in the stacks. It would be hilarious to see a stack suddenly become a 3 then a 2 and then, when the last guy does his teleport you just hear Shaxx yell "Outstanding work guardians. They knew they were running stacked and they still cheated themselves into a ban!"

            • I want, in this next issue at "This week at bungle", for you bungling idiots to address this one simple question. Just. One. Simple. Question. Why does it take you -blam!-ing scum 6 months to do things that literally any other developer in the industry can fix in six days, two weeks at the outset. This isn't okay. And I am not willing to take any bullshit excuses about why you need to wait till September. -blam!-ing do your gods damned jobs. Go into work, work until the job is done, do the same thing the next day, and the next. Get your -blam!-ing job done. This trash would be tolerated nowhere else in the work world. No one is going to wait until September for you to extort them into paying for an expansion for the game you should have released six months ago. Fix it now, or just call "Destiny" a failure and stop developing it once and for all.

              • i keep hearing you say it will be "more even" what does this mean? that the solo team gets a buff of some sort? (because thats unfair if so, solo or not, you shouldn't get a blatant advantage in a competitive scene) or is it just that when you do get matched with a fire-team its because they were the closest to your skill level? because if its this... they are still a fire-team... things will never be even when a fire-team and randoms are put together, as someone said below, just add a lone wolf queuing system, let the fire-teams fight it out, and the solos who dont want to bug their friends every time they want to do comp just play with other solos 100% of the time...

If you could define what changes you are talking about specifically, what your definition of "fully re-enabled" is, and a detailed explanation of "find the playing field more even" . . . such as how matchmaking works, what factors determine how you get matched and who you match with and against, by "more even" do you mean that all players will be closer to your Elo or is it that your Elo averaged with your team will be closer to the average of the other team, etc. I want facts, not vague statements that mean literally nothing. "With this latest change, you may find that you feel a slight difference in the way things have changed, so you will still get matched up like you did before, but within the playing field, you may find that things are more even. Yes. More even. It doesn't make sense to make something more even, something is even or it isn't. That's why we use statements like this. So that we can apply some false sense of incremental improvement when none is present. The end result will always be as close to a 50/50 win-loss ratio for as many players as possible, so just keep feeling as if something is changing, because as long as feelings are the focus and no actual, factual systems are presented, no hard data, no discussion about how exactly things will work so that players can understand their own involvement, you just have your feelings. So trust them, because manipulating feelings is way easier than appealing to intellect."

                • I can tell you this - it isn't working. Ive had about 10 days of great games, with very few Fireteams/organised clans, but *surprise* , I fire up Quickplay this morning and 75% of my games have been against a clan/fireteam. We lost every single one. Some were fairly close, but it was clear these guys had an advantage. Genuine question: Why are fire teams allowed in Quickplay? Are there not enough other modes for them to play to assert their 'dominance'? This is seriously disheartening for a casual gamer. Quickplay says 'Fun with friends, low intensity', so why can't it be enforced that only solo players can join? Games are supposed to be fun, we don't all have the time to 'get good', and sometimes just want a well balanced, fun match.

As solo players, we'll be matched against scrub teams! Let those lights out medals rain. On a more serious note: Basically, they built a knob to tweak the MMR of pre built teams to give them a skill handicap against solo players. Queueing as a team will mean you are at a disadvantage in 1v1 situations. This "knob" will require constant fiddling. It's not a final solution to the underlying problem and will lean towards one side or the other, most of the time.
