It's Thursday already?
More importantly, I'm concerned with these level/engram changes. I'm a die-hard player, I'm not worried about getting to the cap. I worry about how long it will take, what with the random nature of drops. I need to be ready to help others, and if I'm being gated, along with terrible rng methods for leveling, this seems like it's going to be a problem. If the people I help aren't able to level quickly as well, they are more likely to be left in the dust struggling by themselves. This is bad for both parties.
One of the best things about loot in D1 is that you could potentially raise your power, or find a better roll in a gun, doing anything. Up until a short period that was reserved for things like the raid and trials. I feel you guys are trying to find a happy medium between the last games power struggle, and this games power mediocrity. This is not looking like it will be a fun or interesting change, merely a roadblock thrown up in our way to keep us from leveling quickly/efficiently or having fun doing what we like to do and still making progress.
Most importantly, if we have to struggle to raise our power, we need to feel exponentially stronger once we've reached the cap. As a max level guardian, I want to decimate all who stand before me, not simply be on par with them. You guys haven't seemed to understand this disconnect. There's no activity that requires a substantial level aside from prestige Nightfall which is a joke, only meant to give you a score. I've seen no increase in RNG by running high point nightfalls, the sheer majority of drops come from simple, speedy, normal runs. Aside from showing off, there is no point in running prestige. We need activities that have high power requirements, but also reward us accordingly. Making a soft cap does not make your harder content feel rewarding. It makes getting there more frustrating, that's it.
Please, stop tinkering with things to make us feel weaker, or challenged. Make is feel stronger, and more capable. We will always find ways to challenge ourselves should the need arise. Implementing hard gates to progression and enjoyment is NOT the answer.
As always I will try before I cry, but this is my opinion today. We shall see how it changes in the coming months.

No the summit is thurs and friday

Dude the grind for max level needs to be way higher shut up
-
Step off, you don't even have one character at max.
-
Yes I do idiot I don’t have the gear equipped you stupid moron
-
Its basically gonna feel like D1 again

Your power will be at D1 and it will take longer to get it if you don’t do end game. I like it. For those that don’t do end game they will still go up really slow and won’t hit max in the season. But if they don’t do end game what does it matter to be at the cap, it’s not needed and you gain nothing in non end game activities. Few weeks for guys that do everything possible. Omnivore I think he said lol.

The rate at which we get power being adjusted is a good change. Removing any value from exotic engrams is a bad change. Especially if you look at the bigger picture. This is effectively removing any control you have as a player over your progression while at the same time removing one of the few incentives we have to play the game outside of weekly milestones. This actually affects the hardcore players more than the casuals. As they are the ones that play the game enough for it to matter.

No. This is better incentive to play milestones and raids. After milestones, you play for fun, just like back in D1. This is amazing

Destiny 1 had much more incentives to play period. Destiny 2 is lacking incentives to play. Fun is subjective and to many people there needs to be incentives to have fun. I mean it is the number 1 reason the game is bleeding players. I am all for the changes to progression and how it incentives raid and nightfall. I don't mind those changes. If anything I think they could have been harsher. What I don't like is how this is a counter-intuitive change that will make progression even less consistent, while removing player control and incentive. A much more efficient way of giving incentives for end game plays would be to lower the drop rate of exotics for easier activities and adding exotic drops to high end activities like the raid and nightfall.

Yea the changes to exotic engrams seems to me as a very misguided approach to the games issue with progression. Progression has been too easy in vanilla and especially in Curse of Osiris. But more so progression has been incredible inconsistent. What I find weird is that this is something Bungie should know as they had to deal with this problem repeatedly during Destiny 1's lifetime. Exotic engrams should have dropped 1 above base power, not at base power. There should have been an exotic class item for each class. These things would have given players more control over their progression and a better incentive to play the game. I do however agree that progression could be slowed down quite a lot. However removing any control players have over the process is the wrong move. The changes to powerful engrams is fine, and if Bungie wanted to slow it further they could have made even bigger changes there as well. The secondary issue that it seems they want to address is that grinding public events has become the most efficient way of progression. This however should have been balanced out in how activities give out rewards. Not neutering one of the few incentives we have.
