Personal Edit: So some people are starting to complain about random rolls. I personally don't agree with this sentiment. Random rolls CAN add diversity and a level of excitement to loot based games if it showers players with high level gear like D2 currently does.
Diablo
World of Warcraft
Borderlands (different weapon parts)
The reason these games have still remained relevant is that mid-max sentiment for those that wish to strive for. I full agree with the idea that mods 2.0 should increase and give players a level of control over their weapons. However, that doesn't mean random rolls can't coincide with mods. If anyone has played Diablo 3, you would know that it has a "mod-like system" with gems being allow to be placed inside weapons and armor to further augment them.
Destiny has always struggled with an issue and that is personal character evolution between expansions, the numbers may go up on our damage but we don't get any stronger with new abilities like most other games. Instead our progression is directly tied to gear. Thus it is important I believe that new perks every expansion is the key place where Bungie should focus on instead of only one expansion where we get a new subclass. Updating the game with a larger variety of worthwhile perks to allow players to truly hunt for a loadout that fits their playstyle should be the end game that makes us return to the world of Destiny.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von THUNDERCHILD: 3/27/2018 11:29:28 PMMore than any other single development error, fixed gear drops killed this franchise. After a short time youve seen everything there is to see, no reason to continue the grind. I cant wait to see what they're going to do. More reactionary half measures like mods and masterworks will only serve as more nails in the coffin.

15 AntwortenThere's a fundamental problem with the whole Random Rolls vs. Fixed Rolls debate, and that is the fact that they seek to achieve different goals. Random Rolls = Variety = Looter/MMO Fixed Rolls = Balance = Shooter You can't have one without compromising the other. Logically the solution is to separate PvP and PvE systems entirely including gear and skills, but I think there's a simpler solution Bungie is missing. Each weapon and piece of armor should drop with one static fixed set of perks on the top row. The remaining perks should roll completely randomly from a wider and more powerful set. Entering Trials or a competitive PvP playlist would default all your gear to the balanced static roll. Skill trees could be handled the same way requiring you to choose one of the two pre-balanced perk sets before entering a competitive PvP playlist. Outside of competitive PvP/Trials, anything goes. This would include Casual PvP, Iron Banner, and all PvE activities. There you go. Balance where you need it, and Variety where you don't.

With the way weapons are in D2? I wouldn't want random rolls until the entire weapon perk system was overhauled. One perk per weapon that was randomized to me wouldn't make it diverse.

Yeah, if they could actually respond on their own forum instead of reddit, Twitter, YouTube and every single platform except their own... that would be great.

6 AntwortenThe last person I had faith in was Barrett UNTILL the nightfall rewards pull up his quotes on that and look at what we got! What a disaster and an epic flop no theme took extra months to build 3 weapons and a couple reskin items. Now the only guy I have faith in is the janitor at bungie hopefully he can clean up this pile of shite.

Even if random rolls came back tomorrow, it’s too late for me. Bungie unhooked me with Destiny 2
-
He said nothing about random rolls. He said they (Bungie) will say something somewhere in the future. I also heard Luke Smith having the same line of communication in June 2017 saying they would address asap the 10th Better Devils value. Still waiting, almost ten months after that.

14 AntwortenBearbeitet von mrmorpheus87816: 3/27/2018 5:12:29 PMI’m going to be brutally honest so if you get offended by this, well you are offended and I can’t help you. A lot of people are complaining about RR and tbh you guys have no counter argument. RR gave the majority of the community a reason to play , something to chase , perfection to obtain. Before we all go, “well everyone used to same thing”, hold this L cause not everyone used the same thing , may have been the same gun but people had preferences. For example , an eyasluna with sure shot , range and hidden hand would have been perfect for most , key word most. People would say well I would prefer True sight and others would say I would prefer luck in the chamber. The only argument people have against RR is that people use the same thing and that’s not entirely true because people prefer little changes that make the gun unique. Sights was a big thing for players because people had preferences, and their preferences made the guns they grinded for unique. The people who complain about RR are the people who don’t have enough time to grind for a god roll and that’s why they think it’s unfair but you need to realize that RNG in a loot based game is never fair , but it’s the harsh unfairness that keeps people coming back to play. That chase for perfection , the perfect gun for my play style. If you don’t have the time to put into Destiny to obtain the roll you would like well , it may not be the game for you. Uniqueness is a big part of destiny and as of now there is a lack of it.

11 AntwortenNot a fan of random rolls. I think static rolls are the way it should stay. However, we should be able to customize any gun with mods. Not the bs mods currently in the game that are virtually useless. Mods that actually change or add to the list of perks on your weapon’s tree. This way you can customize your guns based on your own personal preference, and this also promotes weapon variety in both pve and pvp.

Static rolls could work.
If There Was A Shit -blam!- Ton of weapons
Random rolls need to come back. The old perks need to resurface as well. Tripod/LiTC/tracking/perfect/counterbalance/rangefinder/etc...

2 AntwortenOMG!!! Really!? Cause I been wanting to...
WHO THE HELL CARES OMG YOU PPL ARE THE STUPIDEST PPL IN A GAME COMMUNITY EVER, SOMEONE JUSY SHOOT ME. BUNGIE IS LAZY AND I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANY OF THIS.
He basically said what they've been saying "We're listening"

He just told us that he is aware. This is the go to line for everything, including "it's high on our priority list" I can't applaud that response at this point.

1 AntwortenThe thing I think we need to remember is that there are no inherently good changes. Random rolls will probably be better than static ones, but it would have to have GOOD abilities almost exclusively (every ability you can roll needs to be viable for something, and there should not be any just better versions of the same perk). Some will be more practical than others, but all of them need to have some advantages. I don't think Bungie can do that, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

I agree. To this day people, including myself still farm for those almighty elusive pearls in borderlands 1! Man that was the best idea to keep people coming back. But on top of that they are worth all that time. Being able to see an enemy holding one then drop it when he dies.... I think I'll load it up right now! Anyway diversity is what we need and maybe bungie will catch on.

Borderlands 2 hit the nail on the head with loot. Legendaries dropped by specific bosses, low percentage drop skins and shaders, a bada$$ system where you always felt like you were getting at least a little bit more powerful, + more. Destiny has it beat with actual FPS gameplay, but man, I miss B2's loot system.

Bearbeitet von Glowstick, Kell of Raves: 3/27/2018 9:18:10 PMWhen D2 first came out and static rolls were introduced, I thought maybe it was a good thing because they will replace the random rolls with something that works better. When you look at D1, the core mechanic of the game is that it's modeled after mmo's. The very structure of the game was replayability for good roll drops. If you take away the core mechanic of a game and don't replace it with something just as substantial, you end up with a game that has no purpose. There's no reason to play if there is nothing to earn. D1 leaned heavily on playing the same content over and over so that you could find that perfect gun roll etc. D2 didn't replace that, but it still leans heavily on the mmo format in general. If mmo's can find ways to balance the game enough to manage random drop rolls, I feel like bungie can also find that balance. I honestly have ended up landing on that I liked D1's balance issues with random rolls a lot more than D2's static rolls with a bit more balance. I don't think the answer is static rolls in pvp and random in pve either, as that removes lot of the incentive to grind for god rolls. What we really need is gear to grind for, balance separated completely between pvp and pve, and a little more dev control over what rolls can roll together. Bungie hasn't built a game that can support itself as just a shooter, so it really needs to embrace the mmo qualities and give us reasons to play again. Looking at some comments about mods replacing random rolls, but the way D2 is structured mods wouldn't be able to fill that gap. It wouldn't give us something to grind for, with the same satisfaction that random rolls give. Even adding them to activity loot pools just wouldn't give the same rewarding feeling as getting that perfect legendary drop. Right now getting a legendary just gives the feeling of oh look, something else I have to dismantle how exciting. Instead of ohh legendary, maybe I'll have a chance at a good roll on something so I can swap out.

2 AntwortenThe fight over random rolls is----like so many things in Destiny----the fight between people who play the game as a loot-based RPG.... ..and those who want to play the game as a competitive shooter. Randomly generated loot is the foundation of every loot-based game....and what happened to Destiny 2 is what happens when you lose sight of that fact. When they announced they were going to fixed rolls, I was willing to play things out. But I said then that if they weren't careful that the move would break the game. They weren't.....and it did.

RR should definitely come back. If the main argument against is crucible balance, I don't see how it would be too large an issue since most of the "meta" weapons already have "god rolls" to begin with. I'm primarily a crucible player and would love the variety. I loved grinding in PVE to get a sweet new gun to try out in trials of Osiris or iron banner in PVP. Made it a better experience during endgame imo. Same deal with the old firefly perk and stuff for pve.
-
1 AntwortenI'll say this, grinding hundreds of hours for a specific role on a gun isn't fun. Instead of random roles coming back, I think the number of guns should multiply.
-
1 AntwortenIt would be great if Random tills come back regardless what others say. RR gave me and other players a reason to grind. That moment you finally for that god roll weapon in D1 that you wanted was always a great feeling.
