D1:
1. Took for some up to 2 weeks to get to level 20. the main scenario only took you to level 15 i think?
2. No exotics were earned till you hit level 20. They were also rare
3. Legendaries did not drop till you were level 18 I believe
4. Max light was only achievable through heroic raid
5. Took months to achieve max light. For some until the eve of The Dark Below expansion
6. Loot cave - yes wasnt exactly good for the devs but will be a lasting moment in all D1 players lives
7. Choice from day 1 how to proceed
8. Sub class grind to open all nodes gave reasons to do bounties, strikes, patrols to unlock
9. Armour choice mattered even as early as level 5
10. Reputation for differing factions meant that you had to make sacrifices on who to level This in return increased replayability and the grind.
D2:
1. Main scenario took you to level 20. Took 6 hours and that was due to padding
2. Exotics given to you at level 5 making them generic and meaningless
3. Legendaries dropping from level 5. Same as point 2
4. Can achieve max light without ever entering the hardest content in the game, the raids
5. Max light achieved in a couple weeks almost
6. No memorable caves - unless you think the faction rally cave door was one? Maybe?
7. Zero choice from the offset
8. All class abilities unlocked (almost) as you play the game naturally through main campaign
9. Armour never mattered after finding your comfortable set
10. No such thing here. You earn everything simultaneously with no penalty. As such drastically reduces the grind
I could go on but ill stop there. I really think Bungie should have renamed this game something else. I honestly believe it would have done so much better. The number of changes in the vanilla alone and the experience alone is astronomical.
I dont want this to be a trash debate. But if you feel any of the points i mentioned are wrong please say so. Opinions are always varied. But please guys keep it clean. I know its a forum but we havent become reddit yet right?

3 AntwortenWell hey they listened to a crying community that wanted balance above all else. Everyone cried about ability spam, ok bye bye abilities. Everyone cried about special/heavy spam, ok bye bye specials and heavy. This community got what it deserved with its incessant bitching.

1 Antworten2 weeks to hit 20 in D1? Lololol
-
3 AntwortenYou could also max out with IB, Archon forge and the other arena on the Dreadnaught.
-
2 Antworten
I really think Bungie should have renamed this game something else. I honestly believe it would have done so much better.
Really? A different name = a different game? That's your solution?

I miss ye olde D1 grind. I remember in Taken King, Finally breaking 300 light was insane! Max level is one of the most simple, yet important grinds to have, and bungo got rid of it.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von AnCapaillMor: 3/21/2018 9:35:07 AMYeah D1 and D2 were polar opposites in a lot of ways, especially ranking up and loot. Remember when ascendant shards were the most wanted item in the game, then the queens bounty came out and you could get a few bits of armour a day, then people copped on you could dismantle them for shards and the shard dismantling was patched out after a day or 2. D1 was a grind and sometimes just unfair, D2 is the exact opposite, they need to find a middle ground. Alvin i think what chaos is saying is that if there was a loot cave in d2, no one would give a crap due to it being easy to get gear in d2 and the weapon\armour being samey.

5 AntwortenI refuse to take this seriously, how can I if your title has no consistency. I mean, the one V is in Upper case, and the one V in Lower Case.
its a visual betrayal, and therefore a Visceral betrayal! get rid of it.
XD

It takes only 2 days... 2. What does that matter? 3. Not true. 4. Not too sure on that, isn't that why ppl did raids inthe first place? 5. Max light could be achieved in mere days if you grinded. 6. Just the loot cave. 7. By that, you mean? 8. Right...because all ppl had their classes maxed before endgame... 9. Say that to the ppl that wanted maxed decipline or strength. 10. Not true at all.

No comparison can be made between the two. You can't even say one was a mess and the other wasn't.
-
Point 4 D1, you could reach max light by only completing the normal VoG. Exotic helmet had to be used. Point 7, on day one there was no choice you had to equip the sub class they gave you. At level 15 you could choose a new sub class.
-
I agree with you on all your points the crazy thing is people complained bitterly about both whether it's easy or hard. they'll complain
-
Bearbeitet von SolemnVoyage550: 3/22/2018 4:07:33 AMBlam everyone getting rewarded for nothing. At first in D1 I hadn't raided and seeing people at max light with all VOG raid gear and weapons made me want to earn the gear and weapons they did. Screw getting rewarded for not putting in work, but hey D2 is a game catered to 4 year old's, thanks Luke S.
-
This is what happens when you cater towards "generation now". I recall a very recent complaint about not getting a particular IB pulse rifle to drop after someone collected 8 IB engrams, when the loot pool was a possible 18 IB weapons/armour.
-
You could always buy exoticsfrom Xur lmao kid
-
11 AntwortenBrainless idiots (d2 fanboys) are saying that d1 vanilla was worse, but they cant say anything if you give them a comparison which proves that d1 is superior.
-
5 AntwortenI actually agree with being able to hit max light/power without the raids. In destiny I raided weekly, sometimes going through a raid several times a week, but in D2 I hate the raid. If I couldn't grind my power level without the raid I'd quit this game in a heartbeat. The point of any video game is to enjoy your time, so if I enjoy patrols and public events I should be able to max out doing what I enjoy.
-
2 AntwortenB-b-but now you can see public events on the map! You know the real endgame lol
-
Wasn't crucible non-existent at launch?
-
D1 vanilla was good. It rewarded dedication and skill
-
I would 100% rather play D1 vanilla agin
-
1 AntwortenD1vanilla: Exotics were fun and powerful/unique. D2vanilla: Exotics are used for infusion.
-
It's simply because of the casuals that moaned that vanilla destiny was too much of a grind and they didn't have time to farm all the materials, bounties etc to level everything up.
-
4 AntwortenYa it’s hard to make a sequel , get mostly everything right in your first game then come out with this ..... 😂
-
1 AntwortenDestiny 1 had max 20, then light levels to 30, just a correction
-
1 AntwortenJesus. Now your complaining about the lack of loot caves?! Everything you said regarding D2 is irrelevant as you need to reach certain power levels to access strikes, nightfall, raids etc. I really don't think anyone would suggest you need to wait 2-3 weeks of grinding public events before you could do a raid. Honestly some of these posts are the zenith of pathetic now.
