Why do people leave in EVERY crucible game?

I don't get it. Winning or losing means nothing, but people leave in EVERY SINGLE GAME. Why? Why not just not play PvP? Ohhh I died, I'll leave. Next game, oooh I died, I'll leave. Next game, I died oh no, turns off PS4, I'll try again tonight. Really? FO

  • They see 4 man clans against a team of solos.... yeah not fun for the solo solo layers so they leave. I don’t blame them.

  • Try this on: I've been playing competitive to try to unlock the ornament (I'm not great so I play only to unlock my milestone) I average 2 wins out of 5 matches per character Sunday I ran competitive to complete both my crucible and faction milestone - durying my first match we win the first round and 3 of our opponents quit - unfortunately it's 4 to 1, I feel bad but a wins a win right? Nope one of our teammate begins to jump off the map repeatedly- when I realize he's sabotaging us I message him to just back out- he declines and we proceed to lose the match Yup this happened

    • I've got to say I play pvp quite a lot and rarely see quitters. Strikes on the other hand, people quit them all the time.

        • If you back out of a game it doesn’t record against your KD. So some people who care about the number will leave if they are et going well to save their stats.

          If the game starts and its 4v3, people leave. If game starts and teammates are afk, people leave. If games starts and its a fireteam of 4 vs 4 solos and it gets ugly quick, people leave. The pvp just isnt fun enough to keep people engaged and feel its worth wasting their time getting destroyed because it takes a teammate 45 seconds to start playing. 4v4 made it even worse. Now if you are down one or have afk, it hurts the team even more. And a penalty would only chase more people away from the game.

          Because D2 crucible isn't fun if you suck. I am a well below average PvP player and I can go into D1 crucible, have a couple .2 - .5 games and still have had fun, simply because it's a dynamic and chaotic experience.

          • Maybe because not only is the team they are on losing, but they are in a game type they don't want to play? I'm still tired of supremacy and I ain't been on in 3 weeks

          • They leave because they arent having fun. Bungie made a game that is not fun to play. Be thankful that anyone bothers to queue up at all. Frankly i cannot understand why anyone logs in anymore.

          • It's not about winning or losing. It's about LAG and HORRIBLE matchmaking. If you are a solo player and win a few games you are then placed with the WORST teammates possible. Clearly if you look at my stats I don't care about ELO or Win %, however I'm not going to hang around when people are skipping across the screen or won't take damage. The global matchmaking is just crap, plain and simple. I have uploaded over 50 videos of people that won't take damage or are just plain cheating and Bungie does nothing. I only have so much time to play and I'm not going to waste it on horrible matchmaking or lag. It's easier to just leave and then try again.

              I always assume they're a little kid whose mom just kicked them off. That or they're acting like a little kid who wants momma to give them an easy win every time.

            • There is a quitters penalty coming in March (another thing that should've been in the game day 1) that should solve the problem.

              • Most people don't care about winning the match, especially solo players. They care about how they're personally doing, and I can't blame them. Those people on your team have no personal connection to you. They're different every match. So what becomes important, is personal performance. Even when you're the winning team, usually, at least one person is always plagued by the hit-detection "bug", for the whole match. I put quotes around bug, because I fully believe it's much less a bug, than it is by design. So, your team could be winning, but you're on the bottom of the team, getting slayed, because none of your shots will land... No matter how good your aim is, in any other game... your aim assist, and hit-detection has taken a hike. When that happens, you're just there as a moving target. You can't get any kills, and you just keep getting killed over and over, while your teammates are able to get kills, and they feel like everything is going fine. But for you, it's a -blam!-ing disaster. I don't blame anyone for leaving, when it's because of that. I don't want to run around a whole match, not being able to do much of anything, except die, because my shots won't land, or do damage, no matter what I try to do, because of the hit-detection "bug". When that starts happening... "Peace bros, I'm out!"

              • Wether it’s Lag or being D Dos before or during the match is frustrating and I’ll admit to quitting during a match. The main reason would be why play if the other team is either manipulating band width to get an unfair advantages or they have a crappy internet. When you report the problem to Bungie they won’t do anything about it.

              • Crucible isn't terrible, but the issue is the same things being spammed all the time. People leave because there is literally no balance, you get 4 hunters all clanned up and all using better devils, darkest before, a sword or acrius with a combination of ghost and void grenades...the chances of you beating that team just based on that alone, is pretty close to 0. I am commonly an auto rifle/scout rifle player with a sins of the past as a power weapon, arc grenades, and top tier striker. That is what I enjoy playing the most, but against that set up, it literally doesn't stand an inkling of a chance, my auto rifle gets beat out by the better devils, regardless of range, and cant be used against the darkest before at range. My scout rifle, even a mida multi tool, gets destroyed by either one of those same weapons. Most of the maps are small enough that as soon as a dude picks up either a sword or acrius, you let that person get too close and its over, no matter what you do you arent getting away from that. Where as a sins of the past you take a quick hop and can get clear of the radius, so there is a skill required to using it even if it is small. The fact that there is no balance to be able to effectively and consistantly counter this combination is why people rage. It is literally all anyone uses, there hasn't been a match I can recall where there wasn't at least three hand cannons and one darkest before. Basically crucible isn't skill based anymore, its all about having "meta" gear, and if you dont have it, you literally get thrashed 9 out of 10 games. Even when you yourself have a full team of 4 if even just 2 of your opponents have that combination its a done deal. You can take the most horrible first person shooter player, give them that gear, and boom pro. PS4 it isn't this terrible, but PC holy crap is it bad. I have no issue finding matches on the ps4 but there are some points on PC where I am waiting for a good couple of minutes for space to fill. I am fairly confident the saturation of that earlier mentioned combo, and the ridiculously overpowered feel of hand cannons in general, are why pvp is unenjoyable on the PC crucible. I did see they are bringing in 6v6 but I am worried this game might not make it to May when it releases because of how unimportant fans seem to be to bungie. They are being beaten out by warframe, a free to play, from what I have been told because of things like this. Trials of the Nine is a prime example of how far its fallen, D1 millions played trials, D2 I hear the stat was a little under 200k total players play regularly still (not sure how factual it is just what I have heard talking to D1 vets). Solution is really simple though and Bungie has the capacity to do it: *Create more incentive to play PVP with better loot *At least for the PC create a fix for the obvious overuse and overpowered handcannons, IE shouldn't be killing anyone half way across the map when its range stat is less than 50 versus a weapon with 70+ range, a 30 point difference should not result in a 3 shot kill for the better devils *I am not sure what the magazine size for the Acrius is given I have never sought it out, but I have seen it clear out a team...twice...why...why does the Acrius get 6-8 shots when the chance to kill is so much higher as opposed to a rocket, that very seldomly gets more than 1 kill...gets 2...a sword is similiar, I have watched a dude swipe and miss 6 different times and still be able to kill 4 to 5 people...why...thats ridiculous...but grenade launchers, get 4 shots...and requires SIGNIFICANTLY more skill to use and get kills with. Even snipers are overshadowed, you need to be pretty skilled to get one shot kills with those but only get 4? But all the easy stuff, shotguns and swords, get enough ammo to run a team off the scoreboard. *Time to Kill has been a prevelant issue overall and is a large reason why a lot of these weapons have the perception of being overpowered in the first place. I mean, why use a Uriel's Gift which really will only get a quick kill if you are shooting with a teammate or hit the head two or three times before the target has a chance to respond, when you can use better devils that'll kill in 3 hits because its impact is so high that it runs your health down and makes TTK pretty much irrelevant anyway. *map variety, why seperate Osiris from Base game? Especially for those of us with both, it isn't too much of a stretch to add an option to search for either or instead of making us choose between base maps, or the one or two osiris maps. *Ranked match making, you have a stat tracker that ranks players bronze, silver, gold, diamond, and platinum...provided I got the order right, unless I am teamed with a player that is overall ranked diamond vice my overall ranked silver...why am I consistantly being pitted against players ranked platinum or diamond? How hard is it to add a search parameter that uses the stat tracker on the website to match you with players at your skill level? I play regularly but typically an hour or two a day and that is IF I am not doing other things (Or saving money). A lot of these players still in PVP average 7 to 8 hours a day have thousands of wins, and tens of thousands of kills. But get matched with players like me that have only one character on PC and just barely got into the PC version a few weeks ago, if nothing else, if you changed this one bullet, you'd fix a lot of the complaints people have. We want to be competitive, not target practice. If I have to look at a playlist ranked Novice, so be it, at least I get myself into a game I can enjoy and compete in rather than be that same Novice that gets paired up with a team of sweaty basement dwellers that live to play this game and thats literally all they do (wish I had that kind of time...but I dont) Bungie, you made a fantastic game, I loved the story, the content is a little lacking but I can ignore that, the community as a whole is pretty good, and it is amazing PVE. In my opinion this is literally all you have to improve on, I am sure there are some other things people will hit on, but this right here...hit on that and you just might see some happy fans again.

              • I can’t bring myself to play D2 at all, much less play in the crucible. But Bungie denying players a choice of game mode would be the biggest reason I would leave. If I want to play control and it keeps throwing me into supremacy, I will leave every time. If Bungie wants to implement penalties for leaving games than I would stop playing - kind of where I’m at now, but for slightly different reasons.

                I may not have done it often, but I'm not exempt from this "leaving" crew. There are situations where I don't find playing to be anywhere near amusing: Going against a solid team of 4 clan mates? - If they go up on us 10-0 or 1, I'm backing out. - If I'm the only one on my team getting kills and we're getting annihilated, I'm backing out. - if everyone on my team leaves and I'm the last one, I'm certainly backing out. What exactly is the point of playing to just get slaughtered? I play pvp to have fun playing with my team... Not to get dominated because I'm playing against sweaties or because my team is terrible.
